Book Adolescent Socialization in Cross Cultural Perspective

Download or read book Adolescent Socialization in Cross Cultural Perspective written by Irving Tallman and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-05-10 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adolescent Socialization in Cross-Cultural Perspective: Planning for Social Change presents a theory of socialization and explains how the theory was formed, developed, and changed. This book describes a cross-sectional research project that uses innovative research methods for comparing people from vastly different cultures. Organized into seven chapters, this book begins with an overview of the premise that the better one learns how to solve problems in one's environment, the better one is able to cope with a rapidly changing society as one grows older. This text then proposes that the family provide an initial arena within which the needs of the individual and the rudiments of the social structure are confronted. Other chapters consider the approach to solving the methodological problems posed by attempting to test the theory by means of a cross-national study. The final chapter deals with the results of the cross-national study. This book is a valuable resource for sociologists.

Download or read book Historia m nima La cultura mexicana en el siglo XX written by Carlos Monsiváis and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2010-02-09 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book El Milagro Del Comienzo written by Gilberto Nieto Aguilar and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-11 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Bootlegging written by Lee Marshall and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2005-08-10 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By examining the centrality of Romantic authorship to both copyright and the music industry, the author highlights the mutual dependence of capitalism and Romanticism, which situates the individual as the key creative force while challenging the commodification of art and self. Marshall reveals how the desire for bootlegs is driven by the same ideals of authenticity employed by the legitimate industry in its copyright rhetoric and practice and demonstrates how bootlegs exist as an antagonistic but necessary component of an industry that does much to prevent them. This book will be of great interest to researchers and students in the sociology of culture, social theory, cultural studies and law.

Book Contemporary Art and Multicultural Education

Download or read book Contemporary Art and Multicultural Education written by Susan Cahan and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 1996 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contemporary art and multicultural education is the first book of its kind to address the role of art within today's multicultural education. Co-published with the New Museum of Contemporary Art, this beautifully illustrated book provides both theoretical foundations and practical resources for art educators and students, combining exquisite color reproductions, statements from contemporary artists and interviews with notable educators. Absent from multicultural art education is an approach which connects everyday experience, social critique and creative expression with classroom learning; for students from widely-varied backgrounds and differing levels of English comprehension, art becomes a vital means of reflecting upon the nature of society and social existence. To this end, this volume features both works of art and artists' personal statements in English and Spanish with lesson plans which explore topics that connect what students learn in school to what life experiences might reveal.
