Book La corrosion dans l industrie chimique

Download or read book La corrosion dans l industrie chimique written by Yves Cètre and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2021-06-17 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Corrosion of High Performance Ceramics

Download or read book Corrosion of High Performance Ceramics written by Yury G. Gogotsi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Corrosion of High-Performance Ceramics" is a comprehensive survey of the state of the art of this new field of research. It presents the first generalized description of the corrosion of engineering ceramics and its effect on their mechanical properties (based on Si3N4, SiC, AlN, B4C, BN, Al2O3, ZrO2). Researchers, engineers and graduate students are provided with a guide to the performance of non-oxide and oxide ceramicsin corrosive environments. Keywords: high-temperature oxidation; hot corrosion; corrosion in acids, alkalis and molten salts; effects of corrosion on the physico-mechanical properties of ceramics; stress corrosion; corrosion protection; development of oxidation-resistant ceramics; role of purity, donations and microstructure.

Book Electrochemical and Optical Techniques for the Study and Monitoring of Metallic Corrosion

Download or read book Electrochemical and Optical Techniques for the Study and Monitoring of Metallic Corrosion written by M.G.S Ferreira and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 714 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In spite of considerable efforts over the years to understand and combat materials degradation via corrosion processes, many challenges still remain both in the theoretical understanding of the phenomena and in seeking pratical solutions to the perennial problem. Progress has been slow due to the complexity of the processes and the systems involved. Fortunately, in recent years there has been a renaissance in the development of new electrochemical and optical techniques, as well as advances in instrumentation, which have greatly aided our quest to gain insight into the complex mechanisms involved in metallic corrosion and passivation. Numerous scientific meetings, symposia, and workshops have been held allover the world which attest to the frenzy of activities in corrosion science and technology. However, most of these conferences have dealt mainly with recent research results. There appeared to be a need to assess and disseminate our present state of knowledge in the field as regards measurement techniques, theory, and instrumentation. The present NATO Advanced Study Institute was therefore held in Viana do Castelo, Portugal from July 9 to 21, 1989. The Institute consisted of a series of tutorial lectures, poster sessions, and round-table discussions interspersed evenly over the two-week period. It was attended by 75 participants from several countries representing industry, government and university laboratories.

Book Rare Earth Based Corrosion Inhibitors

Download or read book Rare Earth Based Corrosion Inhibitors written by Maria Forsyth and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrosion inhibitors are an important method for minimizing corrosion; however traditional inhibitors such as chromates pose environmental problems. Rare earth metals provide an important, environmentally-friendly alternative. This book provides a comprehensive review of current research and examines how rare earth metals can be used to prevent corrosion and applied to protect metals in such industries as aerospace and construction. Chapter 1 begins by examining the important need to replace chromate, and then goes on to discuss the chemistry of the rare earth metals and their related compounds. Chapter 2 considers the techniques that can be used to identify corrosion inhibition mechanisms and to test the levels of protection offered to different metals by rare earth compounds. Subsequent chapters consider in more detail how rare earth elements can be used as corrosion inhibitors in different forms and for different metals. This includes discussion on the potential of rare earth elements for self-healing, tunable and multifunctional coatings. Finally, chapter 10 considers the cost and availability of the rare earths and the potential health and environmental risks associated with extracting them. - Provides a review of current research and examines how rare earth metals can be used to prevent corrosion and applied to protect metals in such industries as aerospace and construction - Includes discussion on the potential of rare earth elements for self-healing, tunable and multifunctional coatings - Considers the cost and availability of the rare earths and the potential health and environmental risks associated with extracting them
