Download or read book Entre Textes written by Oana Panaïté and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-28 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Entre-Textes introduces advanced students of French to the richness of the Francophone world through literature from the Middle Ages to the 21st century. The course anthology is divided into fourteen modules, each of which pairs a classical text with a modern one. Students are guided to read works from different periods of time and cultural origin and consider how these echo, complement or question each other. Through comparing and contrasting the texts, students will develop a new approach to reading literature while simultaneously reinforcing linguistic and cultural competencies. Suitable for advanced students of French and featuring texts from across the French-speaking world, Entre-Textes is an innovative course anthology with a flexible structure and versatile methodology.

Book Le r le du contexte dans la compr hension de textes

Download or read book Le r le du contexte dans la compr hension de textes written by Dominique Gelpe and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book International justice and interpretation

Download or read book International justice and interpretation written by Giuseppe Zaccaria and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2002 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 2001 issue of the Yearbook deals with the problem of international justice. What is the meaning of "justice" in the age of globalisation? In which sense can the "right" provide for criteria that make it possible to afford conflicts in international relations? Which new interpretative standards do turn out to be introduced within domestic law by international dimension? This issue of Ars interpretandi tries to answer these questions as well as other ones, according to an interdisciplinary view, which examine their implications in law, ethics, politics, economics and religion.

Book Texts Textual Acts and the History of Science

Download or read book Texts Textual Acts and the History of Science written by Karine Chemla and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-15 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the outcomes of an innovative research programme in the history of science and implements a Text Act Theory which extends Speech Act Theory, in order to illustrate a new approach to texts and textual communicative acts. It examines assertives (absolute or conditional statements, forecasts, insurance, etc.), directives, declarations and enumerations, as well as different types of textual units allowing authors to perform these acts: algorithms, recipes, prescriptions, lexical templates for terminological studies and enumerative structures. The book relies on the study of a broad range of documents of the past dealing with various domains: mathematics, zoology, medicine, lexicography. The documents examined come from scholarly sources from different parts of the world, such as China, Europe, India, Mesopotamia and are written in a variety of European languages as well as Chinese, Cuneiform and Sanskrit. This approach proves fruitful in both history of science and Text Act Theory.

Book Teaching and Learning Terminology

Download or read book Teaching and Learning Terminology written by Amparo Alcina and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 2011 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume, which was originally published in Terminology 15:1 (2009), presents and reflects on experiences dealing with terminology training, from a theoretical, practical and professional perspective. Terminology is part of the programmes of several (post)graduate courses, such as Translating and Interpreting, Applied Languages, Information Science and other disciplines. Especially terminology practice has changed drastically over the years and training in terminology must adapt to this new reality. Drawing on years of experience in teaching this subject at various academic levels and in diverse ways, we explore what to teach about terminology, how to teach it, how it is learned, what experiences are put into practice with what result, and how to connect the knowledge taught at universities and other institutions to the practical skills that are required from professionals in different areas, e.g. translators, information scientists, knowledge engineers, with respect to their knowledge of terminology.

Book Written Documents in the Workplace

Download or read book Written Documents in the Workplace written by Denis Alamargot and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2008-01-09 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Divided into three parts, the first of which provides a linguistic definition of professional documents, describing their different types and genres. This definition necessarily takes into account both the formal characteristics of these types of document (e.g. nature of linguistic units involved) and their functional goals (the way these linguistic units are used to fulfill the text’s communicative aim). The second part focuses on the mental mechanisms involved in written production in the workplace. One of the aims of a professional writer is to compose a text which can be understood. Text composition involves specific processes and strategies that can be enhanced. One way of doing this is to give the writer suitable instructions, while another is to provide him/her with a suitable writing environment. This last aspect leads us to devote the third and final section to the comprehension of written documents in the workplace. Awareness of the strategies implemented by different readers (with more or less domain expertise) in order to understand technical and professional documents can enhance the latter’s readability. *Contributions from linguists, psychologists and ergonomists from various countries ensure international scope and comprehensiveness *Bridges the gap between fundamental research into writing and reading and the issue of the efficiency of written communication in the workplace *Enables better content creation for professional writers

Book Canons and Canonic Techniques 14th 16th Centuries

Download or read book Canons and Canonic Techniques 14th 16th Centuries written by Katelijne Schiltz and published by Peeters Publishers. This book was released on 2007 with total page 546 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although canons pervade music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, they have not received proportionate attention in the musicological literature. The contributions in this book shed light on canons and canonic techniques from a wide range of perspectives, such as music theory and analysis, compositional and performance practice, palaeography and notation, as well as listening expectations and strategies. Especially in the case of riddle canons, insights from other disciplines such as literature, theology, iconography, emblematics, and philosophy have proved crucial for a better understanding and interpretation of how such pieces were created. The essays extend from the early period of canonic writing to the seventeenth century, ending with three contributions concerned with the reception history of medieval and Renaissance canons in music and writings on music from the Age of Enlightenment to the present. This book was awarded the Special Citation by the Society for Music Theory in November 2008.
