Book La cartographie num rique et l information g ographique

Download or read book La cartographie num rique et l information g ographique written by Philippe Quodverte and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book La cartographie num rique written by Jean-Christophe Plantin and published by ISTE Group. This book was released on 2014-02-01 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Cartographic Communication

Download or read book Cartographic Communication written by Boris Mericskay and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-02-06 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the geological record and the evolution of ideas concerning the Variscan orogenic belt in France and neighboring regions. Volume 1 is based on a general introduction concerning the imprint of the Variscan period on the geology of France, as well as on the particularities of the study of this ancient orogen. A history of the concepts applied to the Variscan belt is proposed in order to consider this orogen in the history of Earth Sciences. A paleogeodynamic analysis of the Variscan cycle sets the general framework for the evolution of the orogen, which is then tackled through the prism of the magmatic, metamorphic and tectonic record of the early phases (from Cambrian to Lower Carboniferous). Volume 2 proposes an analysis of the late evolution of the Variscan orogenic belt, reflecting its dismantling in a high-temperature context during the Upper Carboniferous and Permian. The sedimentary archives are described, as well as the questions raised by the specificities of this ancient orogen.

Download or read book The Politics of Mapping written by Bernard Debarbieux and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2022-05-20 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Maps and mapping are fundamentally political. Whether they are authoritarian, hegemonic, participatory or critical, they are most often guided by the desire to have control over space, and always involve power relations. This book takes stock of the knowledge acquired and the debates conducted in the field of critical cartography over some thirty years. The Politics of Mapping includes analyses of recent semiological, social and technological innovations in the production and use of maps and, more generally, geographical information. The chapters are the work of specialists in the field, in the form of a thematic analysis, a theoretical essay, or a reflection on a professional, scientific or militant practice. From mapping issues for modern states to the digital and big data era, from maps produced by Indigenous peoples or migrant–advocacy organizations in Europe, the perspectives are both historical and contemporary.

This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 295 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Les avatars jouables des mondes num riques Th ories terrains et t moignages de pratiques interactives written by AMATO Etienne Armand and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2013-09-01 with total page 346 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Participatory Mapping written by Jean-Christophe Plantin and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2014-07-09 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for applications of online digital mapping, called mashups (or composite application), and to analyze the mapping practices in online socio-technical controversies. The hypothesis put forward is that the ability to create an online map accompanies the formation of online audience and provides support for a position in a debate on the Web. The first part provides a study of the map: - a combination of map and statistical reason - crosses between map theories and CIS theories - recent developments in scanning the map, from Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Web map. The second part is based on a corpus of twenty "mashup" maps, and offers a techno-semiotic analysis highlighting the "thickness of the mediation" they are in a process of communication on the Web. Map as a device to "make do" is thus replaced through these stages of creation, ranging from digital data in their viewing, before describing the construction of the map as a tool for visual evidence in public debates, and ending with an analysis of the delegation action against Internet users. The third section provides an analysis of these mapping practices in the case study of the controversy over nuclear radiation following the accident at the Fukushima plant on March 11, 2011. Techno-semiotic method applied to this corpus of radiation map is supplemented by an analysis of web graphs, derived from "digital methods" and graph theory, accompanying the analysis of the previous steps maps (creating Geiger data or retrieving files online), but also their movement, once maps are made.

Book Cartographie

  • Pages : 159 pages

Download or read book Cartographie written by Jean Steinberg and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Thematic Mapping from Satellite Imagery

Download or read book Thematic Mapping from Satellite Imagery written by J. Denègre and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report, produced between 1984 and 1987 in a bilingual edition (English and French), provides a wealth of information on a wide variety of cartographic applications which are being developed to make effective use of new data that is now being collected by Earth observation satellites. At a time when natural resource development and environmental problems have to be taken into account in their entirety, satellites provide an exceptional means of evaluating, synthesizing and creating geographic information. The production of new images, such as the Landsat Thematic Mapper, the SPOT High Resolution Visible Sensor and the adoption meteorological images such as AVHRR sensors on NOAA satellites, which have been extended to thematic domains such as agriculture and glaciology, have led to many new developments as well as problems for the cartographer. These problems are numerous and varied and recur frequently depending on the images and themes being processed e.g. how to select the graphic specification of maps and legends and account for classification accuracy; how to introduce the minimum of topographical data into an image in order to supply users with an adequate geographic reference; when using a physical terrain image, on which, by definition there are no `blanks' and where no details have been eliminated, how to overcome conceptual difficulties e.g. the side by side placing of different semiological information; the interpretation levels left to reader; achieving a balance between objectivity and readability. Obviously the cartographers role is of prime importance in solving these problems. In order to illustrate the way in which this information is presented, the report provides samples from 33 thematic applications taken from 13 different categories, including agriculture, town planning and water resources. Each application is provided with a descriptive note both in English and French indicating the objective, method and results obtained. This volume provides an important record of current developments in thematic mapping from satellite imagery and should be essential reference for all cartographers.
