This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research studies included in this Special Issue highlight the fundamental contribution of the knowledge of environmental history to conscious and efficient environment conservation and management. The long-term perspective of the dynamics that govern the human–climate ecosystem is becoming one of the main focuses of interest in biological and earth system sciences. Multidisciplinary bio-geo-archaeo investigations into the underlying processes of human impact on the landscape are crucial to envisage possible future scenarios of biosphere responses to global warming and biodiversity losses. This Special Issue seeks to engage an interdisciplinary dialog on the dynamic interactions between nature and society, focusing on long-term environmental data as an essential tool for better-informed landscape management decisions to achieve an equilibrium between conservation and sustainable resource exploitation.

Book excerpt: This book appeared in Italy during the Nobel laureate's eighty-second year. The sardonic force of his shrewd observations of the contemporary scene remains unblunted even as the poet has become more involved with everyday, more private, more self-revealing. Here it gains even greater prominence as the poet attempts to find catchholds and constancies in an unstable world, finally to accede to 'precariousness the muse of our time.'

Book La Traviata

    Book Details:
  • Author : Giuseppe Verdi
  • Publisher : Lulu.com
  • Release : 2013-07-24
  • ISBN : 1291500553
  • Pages : 110 pages

Download or read book La Traviata written by Giuseppe Verdi and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-07-24 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Bioregional Planning and Design Volume I

Download or read book Bioregional Planning and Design Volume I written by David Fanfani and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-20 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a review of the bioregionalist theory in the field of spatial planning and design as a suitable approach to cope with the growing concerns about the negative effects of metropolization processes and the need for a sustainable transition. The book starts out with a section on rethinking places for community life, and discusses the reframing of regional governance and development as well as social justice in spatial planning. It introduces the concept of the urban bioregion, a pivotal concept that underpins balanced polycentric spatial patterns and supports self-reliant and fair local development. The second part of the book focuses on planning, and particularly on the issues that arise from the ‘circular’ recovery of the relation between city and agro-ecosystems for integrated planning and resilience of settlements and discusses topics such as foodshed planning, biophilic urbanism and the integration of rural development and spatial planning. This volume sets out the reference framework for Volume II which deals with more specific and operational issues related to spatial policies and settlement design.

Book The Renaissance Perfected

    Book Details:
  • Author : D. Medina Lasansky
  • Publisher : Penn State Press
  • Release : 2004
  • ISBN : 9780271023663
  • Pages : 432 pages

Download or read book The Renaissance Perfected written by D. Medina Lasansky and published by Penn State Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mussolini&’s bold claims upon the monuments and rhetoric of ancient Rome have been the subject of a number of recent books. D. Medina Lasansky shows us a much less familiar side of the cultural politics of Italian Fascism, tracing its wide-ranging efforts to adapt the nation&’s medieval and Renaissance heritage to satisfy the regime&’s programs of national regeneration. Anyone acquainted with the beauties of Tuscany will be surprised to learn that architects, planners, and administrators working within Fascist programs fabricated much of what today&’s tourists admire as authentic. Public squares, town halls, palaces, gardens, and civic rituals (including the famed Palio of Siena) were all &“restored&” to suit a vision of the past shaped by Fascist notions of virile power, social order, and national achievement in the arts. Ultimately, Lasansky forces readers to question long-standing assumptions about the Renaissance even as she expands the parameters of what constitutes Fascist culture. The arguments in The Renaissance Perfected are based in fresh archival evidence and a rich collection of illustrations, many reproduced for the first time, ranging from photographs and architectural drawings to tourist posters and film stills. Lasansky&’s groundbreaking book will be essential reading for students of medieval, Renaissance, and twentieth-century Italy as well as all those concerned with visual culture, architectural preservation, heritage studies, and tourism studies.

Book Dell informe 2 Assemblaggi

Download or read book Dell informe 2 Assemblaggi written by Marco Navarra and published by LetteraVentidue Edizioni. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
