Book excerpt: Introduction : Les tentatives de suicides sont fréquentes à l'adolescence et touchent l'ensemble de la famille, en particulier les parents qui sont par ailleurs des acteurs essentiels de l'accompagnement thérapeutique. Pourtant, peu d'études s'intéressent à leur expérience. Patient et méthode : Étude qualitative basée sur des entretiens semi structurés explorant l'expérience de 13 parents d'adolescents suivi en pédopsychiatrie pour un passage à l'acte suicidaire; analyse réalisée à l'aide de l'Interprétative Phenomenological Analysis. Résultats : Le bien-être et le fonctionnement des parents est directement affecté par l'état de santé mental de leur enfant. Lorsqu'ils sont informés du geste suicidaire, ils ressentent une tristesse majeure. La colère s'exprime contre l'adolescent mais aussi contre l'entourage ou les soignants. Dans l'incertitude, les parents remettent en question leur compétence éducative et empathique, et doutent aussi sur leur capacité́ à aider. Ils expriment le besoin d'aide et de soutien dans la compréhension du passage à l'acte, dans l'expérience émotionnelle complexe qu'ils traversent et dans la réaffirmation de leurs compétences d'aidant. Conclusion : les parents sont extrêmement affectés par le passage à l'acte suicidaire de l'adolescent. Un accompagnement personnalisé doit leur être proposé en plus de leur implication dans le soin de l'adolescent. Les groupes de parents ou les interventions psycho- éducatives peuvent être des outils intéressants pour redonner aux parents les moyens d'accompagner sereinement leur enfant.

Les garçons sont plus touchés que les filles, mais déclarent moins de tentatives de suicide et recourent moins aux soins. Il existe un fonctionnement cognitivo-émotionnel et des facteurs de risques de comportements suicidaires spécifiques selon le genre. Peu d’études se sont intéressées à l’expérience des idées et comportements suicidaires des jeunes garçons. Il s’agit d’explorer l’expérience subjective des comportements suicidaires d’adolescent.e.s, afin de déterminer les aspects communs et les spécificités rapportés par les jeunes garçons et les jeunes filles. Méthode : Etude qualitative auprès d’adolescent.e.s ayant des conduites suicidaires recrutés dans quatre centres de soins d’Ile de France. Les entretiens semi-structurés sont retranscrits puis analysés à l’aide de l’Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Résultats : 22 adolescent.e.s, 10 garçons et 12 filles, entre 13 et 19 ans, ont été inclus dans l’étude. 3 axes d’expérience émergent : l’expérience de la souffrance, le lien à l’autre, et le courage. Les dimensions individuelles et interpersonnelles mettent en avant des sentiments d’incompréhension, d’isolement et de perte de sens. Les jeunes garçons ressentent davantage les difficultés relationnelles sous l’angle du rejet, et les jeunes filles décrivent une crainte d’abandon dont elles se sentent responsables. Les garçons et les filles expriment également différemment leur réticence à aller aux soins, et le courage de prendre des risques semble parfois plus valorisé. Conclusions : Des programmes spécifiques de prévention doivent être axés sur la perception du soin et ses représentations. En positionnant l’expérience des adolescent.e.s comme une expertise, au même titre que celle des professionnels de santé, ces programmes répondraient ainsi mieux aux attentes et réticences de ce public. Les attitudes de genre néfastes au recours au soin peuvent y être abordées et travaillées. En détachant la réception d’un soin ou les souffrances psychiques d’une représentation dévalorisante, ceux-ci peuvent être reliés à une notion de vulnérabilité et de dépendance commune, et permettre un recours plus précoce aux dispositifs existant.

In his Cartesian Theodicy, Janowski demonstrates that Descartes' epistemological problems are merely rearticulations of theological questions. For example, Descartes' attempt to define the role of God in man's cognitive fallibility is a reiteration of an old argument that points out the incongruity between the existence of God and evil, and his pivotal question `whence error?' is shown here to be a rephrasing of the question `whence evil?' The answer Descartes gives in the Meditations is actually a reformulation of the answer found in St. Augustine's De Libero Arbitrio and the Confessions. The influence of St. Augustine on Descartes can also be detected in the doctrine of eternal truths which, within the context of the 17th-century debates over the question of the nature of divine freedom, caused Descartes to ally himself with the Augustinian Oratorians against the Jesuits. Both in his Cartesian Theodicy as well as his Index Augustino-Cartesian, Textes et Commentaire Janowski shows that the entire Cartesian metaphysics can - and should - be read within the context of Augustinian thought.
