Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The field of intelligence testing has been revolutionized by Alan S. Kaufman. He developed the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children–Revised (WISC-R) with David Wechsler, and his best-selling book, Intelligent Testing with the WISC-R, introduced the phrase 'intelligent testing'. Kaufman, with his wife, Nadeen, then created his own series of tests: the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC), the Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement (K-TEA), the Kaufman Brief Intelligence Test (K-BIT), and many others. The K-ABC, the first major intelligence test to challenge the Wechsler, helped raise the bar for future tests. This is a celebration of his life's work, with contributions by a 'who's who' in IQ testing, including Bruce Bracken, Dawn Flanagan, Elaine Fletcher-Janzen, Randy Kamphaus, Nancy Mather, Steve McCallum, Jack Naglieri, Tom Oakland, Cecil Reynolds, and Robert Sternberg, is edited by his son James, and features essays expanding on his work and ideas from former colleagues.

Book Imitation and the Social Mind

Download or read book Imitation and the Social Mind written by Sally J. Rogers and published by Guilford Press. This book was released on 2006-05-25 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From earliest infancy, a typically developing child imitates or mirrors the facial expressions, postures and gestures, and emotional behavior of others. Where does this capacity come from, and what function does it serve? What happens when imitation is impaired? Synthesizing cutting-edge research emerging from a range of disciplines, this important book examines the role of imitation in both autism and typical development. Topics include the neural and evolutionary bases of imitation, its pivotal connections to language development and relationships, and how early imitative deficits in autism might help explain the more overt social and communication problems of older children and adults.

Book The Imitation of Gestures

Download or read book The Imitation of Gestures written by Jean Bergès and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-08-10 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Imitation of Gestures describes the sets of tests of the imitation of gestures in children performed by the examiner. These tests provide valuable information about the development of motor skills, particularly the right-left orientation in children from 4 to 8 years of age. This book is composed of two main sections encompassing 9 chapters. Part I presents the methods for studying the imitation of simple and complex gestures of the hands and arms. This part also covers the application of these methods to children who would be likely to have disturbances in motor and verbal development. The second part describes the supplementary tests to the Imitation of gestures test used for the study of body image. This part also deals with the intercorrelations between the results obtained on the different tests, namely, the Imitation of gestures, Drawn-a-man test, Grace Arthur mannequin puzzle, and the verbal test of naming and pointing to the body parts. Pediatricians, neurologists, and clinical psychologists will find this book rewarding.

Detection of Response Bias in Forensic Neuropsychology includes comprehensive reviews of current procedures in wide usage to evaluate the validity of test results. Procedures covered include: Portland Digit Recognition Test Computerized Assessment of Response Bias (CARB) Warrington Recognition Memory Test Halstead-Reitan Battery Rey's strategies for detecting malingering validity scales of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI-2) Victoria Symptom Validity Test (VSVT) Test of Memory Malingering (TOMM) Word Memory Test (WMT) Category Test validity indicators much more!
