Book Harmonic Analysis On Hypergroups Approximation And Stochastic Sequences

Download or read book Harmonic Analysis On Hypergroups Approximation And Stochastic Sequences written by Rupert Lasser and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2022-12-06 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book aims at giving a monographic presentation of the abstract harmonic analysis of hypergroups, while combining it with applied topics of spectral analysis, approximation by orthogonal expansions and stochastic sequences. Hypergroups are locally compact Hausdorff spaces equipped with a convolution, an involution and a unit element. Related algebraic structures had already been studied by Frobenius around 1900. Their axiomatic characterisation in harmonic analysis was later developed in the 1970s. Hypergoups naturally emerge in seemingly different application areas as time series analysis, probability theory and theoretical physics. The book presents harmonic analysis on commutative and polynomial hypergroups as well as weakly stationary random fields and sequences thereon. For polynomial hypergroups also difference equations and stationary sequences are considered. At greater extent than in the existing literature, the book compiles a rather comprehensive list of hypergroups, in particular of polynomial hypergroups. With an eye on readers at advanced undergraduate and graduate level, the proofs are generally worked out in careful detail. The bibliography is extensive.

Book Harmonic Analysis of Probability Measures on Hypergroups

Download or read book Harmonic Analysis of Probability Measures on Hypergroups written by Walter R. Bloom and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2011-04-20 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The series is devoted to the publication of monographs and high-level textbooks in mathematics, mathematical methods and their applications. Apart from covering important areas of current interest, a major aim is to make topics of an interdisciplinary nature accessible to the non-specialist. The works in this series are addressed to advanced students and researchers in mathematics and theoretical physics. In addition, it can serve as a guide for lectures and seminars on a graduate level. The series de Gruyter Studies in Mathematics was founded ca. 30 years ago by the late Professor Heinz Bauer and Professor Peter Gabriel with the aim to establish a series of monographs and textbooks of high standard, written by scholars with an international reputation presenting current fields of research in pure and applied mathematics. While the editorial board of the Studies has changed with the years, the aspirations of the Studies are unchanged. In times of rapid growth of mathematical knowledge carefully written monographs and textbooks written by experts are needed more than ever, not least to pave the way for the next generation of mathematicians. In this sense the editorial board and the publisher of the Studies are devoted to continue the Studies as a service to the mathematical community. Please submit any book proposals to Niels Jacob.

Book An Introduction to Riemann Surfaces

Download or read book An Introduction to Riemann Surfaces written by Terrence Napier and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-08 with total page 563 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook presents a unified approach to compact and noncompact Riemann surfaces from the point of view of the so-called L2 $\bar{\delta}$-method. This method is a powerful technique from the theory of several complex variables, and provides for a unique approach to the fundamentally different characteristics of compact and noncompact Riemann surfaces. The inclusion of continuing exercises running throughout the book, which lead to generalizations of the main theorems, as well as the exercises included in each chapter make this text ideal for a one- or two-semester graduate course.

Book Introduction to Banach Spaces Analysis and Probability Volume 2

Download or read book Introduction to Banach Spaces Analysis and Probability Volume 2 written by Daniel Li and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-11-02 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume text provides a complete overview of the theory of Banach spaces, emphasising its interplay with classical and harmonic analysis (particularly Sidon sets) and probability. The authors give a full exposition of all results, as well as numerous exercises and comments to complement the text and aid graduate students in functional analysis. Book The Development of Prime Number Theory

Download or read book The Development of Prime Number Theory written by Wladyslaw Narkiewicz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. People were already interested in prime numbers in ancient times, and the first result concerning the distribution of primes appears in Euclid's Elemen ta, where we find a proof of their infinitude, now regarded as canonical. One feels that Euclid's argument has its place in The Book, often quoted by the late Paul ErdOs, where the ultimate forms of mathematical arguments are preserved. Proofs of most other results on prime number distribution seem to be still far away from their optimal form and the aim of this book is to present the development of methods with which such problems were attacked in the course of time. This is not a historical book since we refrain from giving biographical details of the people who have played a role in this development and we do not discuss the questions concerning why each particular person became in terested in primes, because, usually, exact answers to them are impossible to obtain. Our idea is to present the development of the theory of the distribu tion of prime numbers in the period starting in antiquity and concluding at the end of the first decade of the 20th century. We shall also present some later developments, mostly in short comments, although the reader will find certain exceptions to that rule. The period of the last 80 years was full of new ideas (we mention only the applications of trigonometrical sums or the advent of various sieve methods) and certainly demands a separate book.

Book Twentieth Century Harmonic Analysis

Download or read book Twentieth Century Harmonic Analysis written by J.S. Byrnes and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost a century ago, harmonic analysis entered a (still continuing) Golden Age, with the emergence of many great masters throughout Europe. They created a wealth of profound analytic methods, to be successfully exploited and further developed by succeeding generations. This flourishing of harmonic analysis is today as lively as ever, as the papers presented here demonstrate. In addition to its own ongoing internal development and its basic role in other areas of mathematics, physics and chemistry, financial analysis, medicine, and biological signal processing, harmonic analysis has made fundamental contributions to essentially all twentieth century technology-based human endeavours, including telephone, radio, television, radar, sonar, satellite communications, medical imaging, the Internet, and multimedia. This ubiquitous nature of the subject is amply illustrated. The book not only promotes the infusion of new mathematical tools into applied harmonic analysis, but also to fuel the development of applied mathematics by providing opportunities for young engineers, mathematicians and other scientists to learn more about problem areas in today's technology that might benefit from new mathematical insights.
