Book excerpt: Become Part of a Counterculture of Kindness! Selfishness, pride, and hostility dominate the headlines, social media, and everyday interactions. But what if every Christian did one simple act of kindness each week? What if you could spark a revolution just by bringing someone a meal, offering to carry someone's groceries, or sharing an encouraging word? Or maybe just by listening respectfully to someone you disagree with! With rousing encouragement and biblical insight, Dr. Tony Evans shows how, when we let the kindness of God change us, we can change the world. Through real-life examples and practical teaching, he empowers each of us to · choose honor over hate · recognize everyday opportunities to spread God's love · discover the courage to step out in kindness Kindness is catching. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We live in a polarizing world. People are being pulled in every direction, having their attention veered away from Jesus. When followers of Jesus lose sight of living life on earth as it is in heaven, it can be easy to be swayed into the many tribes of this world, being sidetracked from what matters most. If we allow it, the disunity of this world can make its way into our lives and begin to form and shape us. This leads to a depleting spiritual life. So we long for hope. A hope that cannot be found living for the things this world offers. A hope that is kingdom-minded. If we are going to find hope in a broken and hurting world, then we must not be formed by the things of this world--which suffocate our spiritual vitality. Instead, we must be formed by kingdom life, which is best understood through the person of Jesus. Kingdom Formation: Being Transformed for Life on Earth as It Is in Heaven, helps readers navigate the tension of living for the kingdom of God while residing as pilgrims in a broken and hurting world. This book seeks to bring hope through spiritual restoration and nourishment to those who long to be kingdom people on earth.

Book Different

    Book Details:
  • Author : Simon Ponsonby
  • Publisher : Hodder & Stoughton
  • Release : 2016-03-10
  • ISBN : 1473617804
  • Pages : 224 pages

Download or read book Different written by Simon Ponsonby and published by Hodder & Stoughton. This book was released on 2016-03-10 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simon Ponsonby has been called a 'preacher's preacher' on the one hand, and a 'people's theologian' on the other. He speaks and writes from a passion to see God glorified and people's lives changed - and with an increasing concern that too often, even those who are deeply committed to Christianity and church still don't seem to be much different from anyone else. In this punchy new book Simon sets out the challenge for all of us to look hard at our own lives and think about the life God is calling us to - to deal with the things that prevent us from following in spirit and in truth, and to face up to our failure to be true to the task God has set us. Tackling tough issues from porn to family life and digging deep into Bible stories from classics like Daniel and the Lion's Den to hard passages like those dealing with the Israelites' worship of Baal and Asherah, Simon takes us with him on a wide-ranging journey into the heart of what God wants for his people. Holiness is not always an easy read, but it is an important book that might just shake the church out of its current crisis if we will come together to heed its call to a deeper holiness that the world will see and take notice of.

Book Kingdom of Shadow and Light

Download or read book Kingdom of Shadow and Light written by Karen Marie Moning and published by Dell. This book was released on 2021-02-23 with total page 592 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • MacKayla Lane faces the ultimate threat when war breaks out between the kingdoms of shadow and light, as the Fever series races to an explosive revelation. From the moment MacKayla Lane arrived in Dublin to hunt her sister’s murderer, she’s had to fight one dangerous battle after the next: to survive, to secure power, to keep her city safe, to protect the people she loves. The matter of who’s good and who’s evil can be decided by the answer to a single question: Whose side are you on? Now, as High Queen of the Fae, Mac faces her greatest challenge yet: ruling the very race she was born to hunt and kill—a race that wants her dead yesterday, so they can put a pure-blooded Fae queen on the throne. But challenges with her subjects are the least of her concerns when an ancient, deadly foe resurfaces, changing not only the rules of the game but the very game itself, initiating a catastrophic sequence of events that have devastating consequences and leave Mac questioning everything she’s ever learned and everyone she’s ever loved. Now begins an epic battle between Mortal and Fae, Seelie and Unseelie, would-be kings and would-be queens, with possession of the Unseelie King’s virtually unlimited power and the fate of humanity at stake. From the exquisite, deadly gardens of the High Queen’s court, to long-forgotten truths found in the Sacred Grove of Creation, from the erotic bed of her enigmatic, powerful lover to the darkest, seductive reaches of the Unseelie kingdom, Mac’s final journey takes her places no human has been before, and only one human could possibly survive . . . One who’s willing to sacrifice everything.

In A Vine-Ripened Life , author Stanley Gale points us to Jesus, the Vine of life of John 15, in whom we, as branches, must live and grow to bear the fruit of a grace-grown life. He explains, “Having begun in Christ we remain in Christ, continuing to draw our life from Him and maturing in grace.” With pastoral sensitivity and an engaging style, Gale teaches readers both about the fruit of Christian character and how to cultivate it. Perhaps you need more than a daily devotional or small group discussion. Perhaps you feel like you’re just going through the motions. What all Christians need for the spiritual journey is a vibrant, life-changing kingdom encounter. Dr. Tony Evans identifies kingdom encounters as powerful moments when we connect with God beyond information and through experience. In Kingdom Encounters, Dr. Evans explores how the faithful characters of Scripture encountered God—and were forever changed. As we see in the lives of these characters, these moments often occur in the middle of conflicts and trials when we least expect it. Dr. Evans’ hope for you is that, “you realize that when things are going left, you feel trapped and God seems absent, that you are probably right where God wants you in order to experience a life-altering kingdom encounter.” Join Dr. Evans as he explores how these moments can bolster your faith, restore your hope, and make clear to you the face of our almighty God.

Book The Identity of Jesus Christ

Download or read book The Identity of Jesus Christ written by Jimmy Griffith and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2007-02 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have an outstanding God; I have a superb Lord; I have an all sufficient King who supplies my every need according to His riches and glory. He is the force that drives me; the power that moves me; the inspiration that motivates me; the strength that upholds me. His name is Jesus Christ; He is God manifested in the flesh. My name is Jim Griffith, and I am an apostolic Christian; born again; sanctified; water baptized; and Holy Ghost filled. Time would not suffice for me to describe my feelings of every Church, but I must say that I love this type: an Apostolic, United, Overcoming, Pentecostal, Holy Church. Currently I am employed by the U.S. military; the service I will not specify, but I will discuss the spiritual government of which I am enrolled. I am enrolled in the Army of the LORD; the Christian-hood of God. As we press forward into the pages of this book, I pray that your heart will be impressed by the Holy Spirit of God; that your soul will be uplifted into the heavens; that your spirit will be ushered into the living presence of God. Jesus Christ is our only hope, only life, and only salvation; may we understand His character, quality, and identity in order to become partakers of His Eternal Spirit & Eternal life. This book is formulated alphabetically in order to institute a new spiritual alphabet founded on diverse titles of Jesus Christ. There is so much we have not discovered about the Lord Jesus Christ, and it is my attempt to present Him to you in a new light and new way. Let's go forth & overcome! Let God Arise! Let His enemies be scattered! This is who I am and what I desire!

Book The Ladies Repository

Download or read book The Ladies Repository written by and published by . This book was released on 1868 with total page 770 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of this women's magazine originated with Samuel Williams, a Cincinnati Methodist, who thought that Christian women needed a magazine less worldly than Godey's Lady's Book and Snowden's Lady's Companion. Written largely by ministers, this exceptionally well-printed little magazine contained well-written essays of a moral character, plenty of poetry, articles on historical and scientific matters, and book reviews. Among western writers were Alice Cary, who contributed over a hundred sketches and poems, her sister Phoebe Cary, Otway Curry, Moncure D. Conway, and Joshua R. Giddings; and New England contributors included Mrs. Lydia Sigourney, Hannah F. Gould, and Julia C.R Dorr. By 1851, each issue published a peice of music and two steel plates, usually landscapes or portraits. When Davis E. Clark took over the editorship in 1853, the magazine became brighter and attained a circulation of 40,000. Unlike his predecessors, Clark included fictional pieces and made the Repository a magazine for the whole family. After the war it began to decline and in 1876 was replaced by the National Repository. The Ladies' Repository was an excellent representative of the Methodist mind and heart. Its essays, sketches, and poems, its good steel engravings, and its moral tone gave it a charm all its own. -- Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
