Download or read book Kinesthetic Vocabulary Activities Your Child Will Love written by Ricki Linksman and published by . This book was released on 2012-05 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kinesthetic Vocabulary Activities Your Child Will Love: In Just 27 Days Improve Your Kinesthetic Child's Vocabulary and Reading Comprehension can help end your frustration as a parent. It provides answers to the burning questions tens of thousands of parents and teachers of kinesthetic children and teens have asked me, including: How do I develop my kinesthetic child or teen's vocabulary when he or she cannot sit still and thinks vocabulary is boring? Kinesthetic learners learn vocabulary using different strategies and activities from learners of other learning styles or brain styles such as visual learners, auditory learners, or tactile learners, whether right brain or left brain preference. Students with a right-brain preference learn differently from those with a left-brain preference. If traditional methods of learning vocabulary words are not working for your kinesthetic child (K-12), it could be that the teaching method does not match your kinesthetic child or teen's method of learning. These techniques have worked for students diagnosed or suspected of having ADHD or ADD also. If you are looking for fun, engaging kinesthetic vocabulary activities for a kinesthetic learner of any age from pre-school, pre-K, or grades K-12, college, or adult, then this book will provide you activities that have made a difference in only 27 days. These kinesthetic vocabulary lessons and activities can accelerate and improve your child or teen's vocabulary and reading comprehension. These tested and proven activities have worked with tens of thousands of children and teens of all ages around the world. These activities will engage your kinesthetic child or teen of any age in fun activities while improving vocabulary and raising reading comprehension. Why wait for an important test, a state reading test, high school entrance exam, or the ACT or SAT college prep tests to try to cram thousands of words into your kinesthetic child or teen's brain in a few weeks? Start today and give your child or teen the competitive edge to have great reading comprehension and a great vocabulary to succeed in any content area subject, reading, or in tests.

Book Reading with Ease an Alternative Method

Download or read book Reading with Ease an Alternative Method written by Elaine Peters and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-15 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I am the mother of a learner with moderately severe autism and an intellectual disability. This first of a series of beginner readers was a labor of love. My child learned to read by combining phonetics (letter sounds and how those sounds combine to make syllables, words, and sentences) and pre-teaching story vocabulary paired with word symbols. As a result, my child surfs the internet for information pertaining to her interests, browses through magazines and newspapers, and reads signs posted in the community. Being a visual-kinesthetic-tactile learner meant I had to find meaningful (i.e. meaningful to her) ways to present a very large variety of words to her in a way that she found comprehensible. I began the reading journey with her by increasing her phonetic awareness using books full of photographs of objects and activities. The words were color coded based on phonetic sounds. Using symbol writing software I combined creative ways to illustrate and/or play out the meaning of words and phrases. I modeled each word's syllable cadence and often tapped out the cadence with her. Sometimes an illustration or photograph was not adequate to portray a word's or phrase's meaning; so, I used video clips and role play, acting out a word's definition when it was helpful. A simple example is the word jump. To scaffold the embedding process (i.e. the meaning of the word) into her mind, assisting representational development, I showed her the word's meaning physically by jumping. Then, I'd have her act out the word's meaning by encouraging her to jump. Practice and rehearsal of various words found in the text she was reading at the time (whether the text was online, from a book, magazine, newspaper, pamphlet, comic book etc.) was instrumental in developing her current ability to read. Note: The facilitator does not always have to be mom or dad. A relative, a friend, a reading buddy from school, even a high school student earning community service hours can make the phonetics plus pre-teaching vocabulary experience fun and memorable for your loved one. Several years of searching and analyzing literacy research, I discovered, when applied with patience, persistence, consistency, and playfulness, guided my daughter's desire to learn to read as well as her ability to read. Consequently, the premise of these very short 20 stories I have created are intended to be entertaining and engaging within a multi-sensory learning experience (that is, visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic) driven by the reading facilitator's knowledge and understanding of the individual learner as well as the facilitator's creativity, flexibility, and responsiveness to the learner. The facilitator assists the learner to create within their mind, each word's meaning; each phrase's meaning; each sentence's meaning.Lastly, I include simple data sheets for reading facilitators interested in tracking learning success over time. This is the first of a series of beginner "Reading With Ease: An Alternative Method." I hope your learner is an engaged in the process of learning to read as my own daughter has been and continues to be.
