Book excerpt: The e-book guide for publishers: how to publish, EPUB format, ebook readers and suppliers. An electronic book (also e-book, ebook, electronic book, digital book) is a book-length publication in digital form, consisting of text, images, or both, and produced on, published through, and readable on computers or other electronic devices. An e-book can be purchased/borrowed, downloaded, and used immediately, whereas when one buys or borrows a book, one must go to a bookshop, a home library, or public library during limited hours, or wait for a delivery. Electronic publishing or ePublishing includes the digital publication of e-books and electronic articles, and the development of digital libraries and catalogues. EPUB (short for electronic publication; alternatively capitalized as ePub, ePUB, EPub, or epub, with "EPUB" preferred by the vendor) is a free and open e-book standard by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF). Self-publishing is the publication of any book or other media by the author of the work, without the involvement of an established third-party publisher. One of the greatest benefits brought about by ebooks software is the ability for anyone to create professional ebooks without having to fork out thousands of dollars to design and publish a book. Download or read book Girls in Contemporary Vampire Fiction written by Agnieszka Stasiewicz-Bieńkowska and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-05-08 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the narratives of girlhood in contemporary YA vampire fiction, bringing into the spotlight the genre’s radical, ambivalent, and contradictory visions of young femininity. Agnieszka Stasiewicz-Bieńkowska considers less-explored popular vampire series for girls, particularly those by P.C. and Kristin Cast and Richelle Mead, tracing the ways in which they engage in larger cultural conversations on girlhood in the Western world. Mapping the interactions between girl and vampire corporealities, delving into the unconventional tales of vampire romance and girl sexual expressions, examining the narratives of women and violence, and venturing into the uncanny vampire classroom to unmask its critique of present-day schooling, the volume offers a new perspective on the vampire genre and an engaging insight into the complexities of growing up a girl.
Download or read book Ball of Lies written by James Dayboch and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-10-12 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why would respected and famous Americans risk their reputations to create a web of deceit to fabricate, promote, and defend the myth that Abner Doubleday invented baseball in Cooperstown, New York? Further, if not Doubleday, then who did invent baseball? Contrary to what many people still believe, the Doubleday myth is completely false. Based on a true story, this book describes the circumstances leading up to the creation of the myth by influential figures and the efforts of a librarian to expose the truth. Although major league baseball serves as a portion of the backdrop, this incredible story has little to do with understanding how to play the game. Rather, it reports on the inconsistencies inherent within the American psyche. People associated with this tale include nationally prominent politicians, previous major figures from baseball and other sport, royalty from abroad, leaders of industry, and other historical figures of note, such as Thomas Edison, Mark Twain, and Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. Whether you’re a history buff, sports fan, bibliophile, student of business strategy, or enjoy reading some fun stories from international destinations and any of several places across America, ranging in size from Cedar Rapids to St. Paul to Washington DC, Chicago, and New York City, this book is for you. In novel form, the telling of the story places circumstances and related events into a striking historical perspective, where much of what is contained herein appears in print for the first time. Being a knowledgeable sports fan won’t help you here, and the reader who thinks Americans, in general, are philosophically superior to people of other nations in all ways may wish to reconsider that perspective. As to the importance and prevalence of truth—that question is left for the reader to determine. This book only addresses the mystery associated with the Ball of Lies.
Download or read book Books Bytes and Business written by Bill Martin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-08 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How are businesses responding to global changes in markets driven by changes in technology? Whatever the industry, the trends are familiar: globalization and the rise of industrial conglomerates, mergers and acquisitions, the networking of businesses and markets, outsourcing and shifts in the distribution of resources and production, all reflected in the emergence of new players, new products and services and new forms of competition. As arguably the first knowledge-based business, book publishing provides an ideal setting for the study of challenge and opportunity. The industry is currently experiencing fierce levels of competition, extreme financial pressures, restructuring and the threat of technology-induced obsolescence. Added to these are the challenges posed by new and potential entrants to the market, the emergence of new products and services, new ways of doing business, including trading in virtual markets, and the vulnerability of traditional business models. The suitability of book publishing as a context for researching the emergence of knowledge-based business becomes all too apparent. Through combining primary research with secondary analysis drawn from the relevant literatures, Books, Bytes and Business is both a readable and informative account of business in the knowledge-based economy.

Download or read book Legal Issues in Global Contexts written by Kirk St. Amant and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-12-05 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today, it has been said, the world is "flat," as online media allow information to move easily from point to point across the earth. International legal differences, however, are increasingly affecting the ease with which data and ideas can be shared across nations. Copyright law, for example, affects the international flow of materials by stipulating who has the right to replicate or to share certain kinds of content. Similarly, perspectives on privacy rights can differ from nation to nation and affect how personal information is shared globally. Moreover, national laws can affect the exchange of ideas by stipulating the language in which information must be presented in different geopolitical regions. Today's technical communicators need to understand how legal factors can affect communication practices if they wish to work effectively in global contexts. This collection provides an overview of different legal aspects that technical communicators might encounter when creating materials or sharing information in international environments. Through addressing topics ranging from privacy rights and information exchange to the legalities of business practices in virtual worlds and perspectives on authorship and ownership, the contributors to this volume examine a variety of communication-based legal issues that can cause problems or miscommunication in international interactions. Reviewing such topics from different perspectives, the authors collectively provide ideas that could serve as a foundation for creating best practices on or for engaging in future research in the area of legal issues in international settings.
Download or read book Why Did Yahweh and His Son Yahshuah Say What They Said written by Dr. Justin G. Prock and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2020-05-07 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: YAHWEH (The LORD God) and His Son YAHSHUAH (Jesus Christ) made statements with regard to Eschatology that have been “Spiritualized” for over a Millennium, which has led to the belief in Universalism, the belief that YAHSHUAH died for EVERYONE. Well, after one studies the original languages of the Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek, the message of the Kingdom of God was preached to and accepted by a certain House in the Bible. The other House rejected this message, and YAHSHUAH punished that House by taking the Kingdom away from them and giving It to another nation bringing forth fruit. There are only the House of Israel, the House of Judah, and the House of David, mentioned in the Bible. All three existed then, as they do today. However, most of today’s Babylonian Priesthood/Churchianity refuses to accept the secular historical position with regard to the House of Israel, and who they are today. The people groups, which YAHWEH and YAHSHUAH addressed, still exist today. However, these people are all mixed-up, and known by different names, but they DO exist. This book goes back to the origin of these people groups in the Bible, and brings them forward to the present using their old names, in order to understand Eschatology. This brings us to the major question of, “Is the Bible only about Israel?” And, if so, how does it affect our Eschatology today? This book answers these hard questions...
Download or read book The Home Sweet Home Collection A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet Home Is Where My People Are written by Sophie Hudson and published by NavPress. This book was released on 2016-05-20 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection bundles two of popular author Sophie Hudson’s books together in one e-book, for a great value! A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet There’s nothing quite like family—for good or bad. But in a world where we sometimes know more about the Kardashians than we do the people sleeping right down the hall, it’s easy to forget that walking through life with our family offers all sorts of joy wrapped up in the seemingly mundane. There’s even a little bit of sacred sitting smack-dab in the middle of the ordinary. And since time’s-a-wastin’, we need to be careful that we don’t take our people—and their stories—for granted. Whether it’s a marathon bacon-frying session, a road trip gone hysterically wrong, or a mother-in-law who makes every trip to the grocery store an adventure, author Sophie Hudson reminds us how important it is to slow down and treasure the day-to-day encounters with the people we love the most. Written in the same witty style as Sophie’s BooMama blog, A Little Salty to Cut the Sweet is a cheerful, funny, and tender account of Sophie’s very Southern family. It’s a look into the real lives of real people—and a real, loving God right in the middle of it all. Home Is Where My People Are All roads lead to home. It’s easy to go through life believing that we can satisfy our longing for home with a three-bedroom, two-bath slice of the American dream that we mortgage at 4 percent and pay for over the course of thirty years. But ultimately, in our deepest places, we’re really looking to belong and to be known. And what we sometimes miss in our search for the perfect spot to set up camp is that wherever we are on the long and winding road of life, God is at work in the journey, teaching us, shaping us, and refining us—sometimes through the most unlikely people and circumstances. In Home Is Where My People Are, Sophie Hudson takes readers on a delightfully quirky journey through the South, introducing them to an unforgettable cast of characters, places, and experiences. Along the way, she reflects on how God has used each of the stops along the road to impart timeless spiritual wisdom and truth. Nobody embodies the South like Sophie Hudson, and this nostalgic celebration of home is sure to make even those north of the Mason-Dixon line long to settle in on the front porch with a glass of sweet tea and reflect on all of the people in our lives who—related or not—have come to represent home. Because at the end of the day, it’s not the address on the front door or even the name on the mailbox that says home, but the people who live and laugh and love there, wherever there might happen to be.
