Download or read book Key to Parasitic Nematodes Volume 1 Spirurata and Filariata written by Skryabin and published by BRILL. This book was released on 1991-11 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first in a series which forms a part of the rich Soviet helminthological literature published in recent years. It deals with 197 species of nematodes belonging to suborders Spirurata and Filariata, re-examining and revising earlier descriptions and concepts related to them. A historical survey of the taxonomy of worms is given first, with keys to the various major groups and diagnoses of the nematode subclasses and orders. Even at this stage, certain new and interesting ideas are put forward. After a general account of the morphology and anatomy of each suborder, a diagnosis of each genius is given, together with an outline and drawing of its type species.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years the Keys have provided a working tool to those within the field and laboratory needing to know "what is this worm?" They have also helped to establish a classification, using associations of characters, that gives real insight into nematode relationships across the group and their lines of evolution. This supplementary volume is designed to complement the original CIH Keys, now reprinted as one volume, with the additional convenience of reordering into superfamily. The supplement includes revised and redescribed taxa and draws attention to new taxa, to generic level, published by many authors after the original Keys were complete. It also identifies the current position of some of the older genera not included in the original Keys.

Download or read book Parasites of North American Freshwater Fishes written by Glenn L. Hoffman and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2019-06-07 with total page 570 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A remarkable accomplishment.... [This volume] has been and will continue to be a major force advancing freshwater fish parasitology."—Ernest H. Williams Jr., from the ForewordThis thoroughly revised and updated edition of a classic reference work is the definitive guide to the identification of the parasites of freshwater fishes of North America. The book provides information on public health concerns about fish parasites, the methods used to examine fish for parasites, and those parasites found only in very selective organs or tissues. It lists the known species of each genus, along with reference citations that enable readers to find literature pertinent to species identification, life cycles, and in some cases, control. In the heart of the book, each chapter opens with a description of a phylum and its relevant families and genera, followed by a species list for those genera. Drawings illustrate a representative of each genus, and are supplemented by photographic examples. Many new parasites of North American freshwater fishes have been discovered since the publication of the first edition thirty years ago. For this new edition, the author has added new species accounts and revised the taxonomy, expanded descriptions and discussion of the most important fish parasites, provided a glossary to aid nonspecialists, and updated the reference list through 1992. The volume features twice as many illustrations as the first edition, including the addition of 33 color photographs.

Download or read book Annotated Bibliography of Helminths of Waterfowl Anatidae written by Malcolm Edwin McDonald and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This bibliography is an attempt to list all the publications dealing with helminth of waterfowl (Anatidae) -- reports of their occurrence, descriptions, classification, life history, and pathological effects. It brings up-to-date and revises the work published on microfilm in 1965 (Wildlife Disease, No. 45). Studies on prophylaxis and treatment and on physiology, and general manuals and texts on poultry diseases are omitted. Publications issued before 1890 (numbering about 120) are also omitted as the information in many of these is incomplete and the identification dubious.
