Book Key Supply Chain Performance Indicators

Download or read book Key Supply Chain Performance Indicators written by James Tallant and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2011-02-21 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Supply, Production, Logistics, grade: 94.00, University of Phoenix, course: ISCOM 370 Strategic Supply Chain Management, language: English, abstract: Key Supply Chain Performance Indicator Paper Supply chain management through the use of key performance indicators (KPI’s) offers organizations improved profit margins and lower costs. Saxena (2009) comments “KPI initials could stand for “keep players informed” because the right set of key performance indicators can go a long way toward making sure companies and their third party logistics are truly on the same page” (p. 22, para. 3). Measuring key performance indicators in a quantifiable manner is used to evaluate, measure, and compare different organizations in a similar manner for matches in strategic and operational goals. As illustrated below in the hierarchy of supply chain metrics, Miles (2010), a supply chain’s health is measured by foundation blocks or key performance indicators. Failure to identify, measure, or assess, diagnose, and correct through the use of key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, inventory turns, and inventory carry costs prevent the supply chain from reaching its full potential.

Book Supply Chain Management

Download or read book Supply Chain Management written by Ralf Hieber and published by vdf Hochschulverlag AG. This book was released on 2002 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supply chain management is emerging as one of the most powerful logistics management concepts for improving performance across the entire logistics network. Companies that have already streamlined their internal business process are now working to realise further savings by improving the external business relationships within the more and more complex, linked value-adding business processes in logistics networks. Although the benefits of SCM are well-known in industry, until now companies have only put this concept into practice in a limited way. Therefore, the newly developed integral model of collaborative performance measurement in this book will make a contribution towards easing and supporting improvements in supply chain management as well as giving specific guidelines for its implementation. Furthermore, the author provides newly developed key performance indicators that enable the measurement of the performance of co-operation across the extended enterprise in a supply chain environment. Based on case studies, the integral model, in close connection to the SCOR model, was applied and has proven its applicability in industrial practice. This book presents a rich variety of concepts and methods for industrial engineers, business managers, engineers and consultants as well as success stories in supply chain management.

Book Differenziertes Performance Measurement in Supply Chains

Download or read book Differenziertes Performance Measurement in Supply Chains written by Anke Giese and published by Springer-Verlag. This book was released on 2012-02-23 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book A Strategy Based Selection of Key Performance Indicators in the Supply Chain

Download or read book A Strategy Based Selection of Key Performance Indicators in the Supply Chain written by Frédéric Clerc and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In modern supply chain management, the organization's strategic orientation has a major influence on the configuration of its supply chains. Moreover, supply chain management is crucial to the organization's efficiency and profitability. Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are important metrics in this regard. Their analysis enables understanding and rating the performance of the supply chain. It is a major task for an organization to determine which KPIs should be analyzed. Their selection enables the organization to focus on the challenges the supply chain is facing with respect to the specific strategic orientation. The aim of this master thesis is to create a decision-making system framework, in order to select KPIs in the supply chain in regard to the strategic orientation of the organization. The creation of a decision-making framework is generally applicable for every supply chain. Practitioners will be able to use the framework, adapt it to the particularities of their own business and industry, and finally select key performance indicators. The analytical network process (ANP) has been chosen for this purpose. This multi-criteria decision-making system prioritizes multiple and interconnected elements, which enables a more realistic analysis. The literature review section presents literature on both supply chain strategies and performance management. The conceptual framework is the first step for the construction of the decision-making system and is illustrated in a schematic representation of a modern supply chain. It also introduces the central elements for the construction of the ANP The application part presents the developed analytical network process framework and shows through an illustrative example how the framework functions and what kind of outcome can be expected from it.
