Married to the perfect wife, Harrison seems to have it all. Harrison's only concern is an investigation by the F.B.I. for alleged illegal money transfers of millions of dollars of corporate funds held by the bank. Even this does not bother Harrison much as he consider the F.B.I. only a mild irritant. Nor is Harrion bothered by the fact the corporate funds are owned by the mob. Harrison is in control and no one can touch him. Harrison's live takes a dramatic turn during a "business" trip to the Cayman Islands when he is notified that his wife has died. Her death, first appearing to be an accident, turns out to be murder. Harrison's problems increase when his secretary, Elizabeth Blaine, is arrested and placed on trial for the murder. Harrison, while suffering the loss of his wife, now faces a District Attorney who is determined to prove Harrison was involved with his wife's murder, an F.B.I. agent trying to make "grade" on Harrison's arrest, and the syndicate impatiently wanting return of their money before Harrison's world crumbles. Book excerpt: Nebraska: not just a place on a map. It has a heart and it has a voice. It has a Then. It has a Now. Several centuries ago, a young Sioux woman called Lark rebels against her people’s traditions and crosses the plains to save her adopted sister from a bad marriage proposal and return the girl to the Pawnee village from which she was abducted in childhood. At the end of her journey Lark finds herself the center of a mysterious Pawnee ritual that undermines her plan as well as her confidence. In this century, Janet Hinderson runs a small town newspaper and crusades against a proposed meatpacking plant that will destroy the fabric of the town along with its landmark stand of cottonwoods. But Janet’s hard and soft sides must grapple when the meat company’s general counsel comes to town and reveals some cryptic interest in her. These are not two stories. They are connected, told and wound into one—each exploring social issues and themes that are vital and timeless.
Download or read book Walking with God 2 written by Diane Johnson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I began in 2017 to write a year's worth of weekly devotionals. I was totally amazed at how the Holy Spirit worked (and continues to work) in using my life experiences to, hopefully, help others. The first book with twenty-six devotionals was released in May 2018. This book contains devotionals twenty-seven through fifty-two. My prayer is that these devotionals will bless your life and help you as you are "Walking with God." The Holy Spirit continued to guide my heart and my hands with the writing of this second book. I found myself growing more each day as my "walk with God" continued. I pray that I keep the study habits that I have developed over the last year. I have grown in my knowledge that He is an awesome and amazing Heavenly Father. But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or be letter from us. (2 Thessalonians 2:13""17) Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace, comfort and strengthen your hearts in every good work and word.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Miriam Cordell would do anything to protect those closest to her, especially her family if put in a position to do so. Many years would pass before she would be put in such a position. Her thinking of protection would include doing things above the law. She had no qualms of doing what she had to do. Her marriage to Jack Cordell provided her and their children a very comfortable and happy life. This fairy tale existence would abruptly come to an end. After visiting her sister, she started that long drive down a dark road in the Hollywood hills home. Miriam picked up a hitchhiker starting the chain of events that would affect the lives of the Cordell family for the next thirty decades; of world wars, espionage, child ignored by a father, bribery, sibling rivalry, a mother’s mistrust and secrets kept and murder. Even when the Cordell sons grew into men, Jack continued his animosity toward the younger son Trace, while twins Jack Jr., and Al were doted by their father. Miriam knew of her husband’s treatment of their youngest son was because of that night she was attacked. Jack Jr. and Al had blond hair and blue eyes like their father while Trace had dark brown hair and brown eyes like his mother. It just added into Jack Sr.’s belief that Trace was not his son. Miriam would bide her time for the right time and place to make Jack believe differently. It took a murder for the truth of Trace’ conception to finally come out but many years later. After the murder of Miriam’s antagonist, Jack pleaded guilty to manslaughter thus protecting his family from the truth of the true murderer. Once out of prison, Jack kept his secret from Miriam and his sons. The whole sorted story would come out in a letter penned by Jack to his sons after he and Miriam had passed away. At the end, the Cordell sons vowed to help those who suffered in the hands of unscrupulous people, no matter what for love of family.
