Book excerpt: "Closures" is a story of laughter, adventure, cold cases, and life. KC is an investigator who uses her Law Enforcement background along with her life experiences to assist others in finding missing people that no one has been able to find. Her goal is to do more than just give her clients a location. She works to help them find true closure to the hardships of missing loved ones, broken relationships, or business deals gone wrong. KC is also taking on new adventures in her personal life through traveling, hunting, and romance. She feels the strong bond of friendship and learns the meaning of being home. This is the first in many adventures for KC. I am married to my soulmate, Ti Neff. We have seven adult children, ten grandchildren, and one on the way! Family is very important to us. We live in the beautiful northern community of Great Falls, MT, with the Bob Wilderness to our west and the beautiful Belt Mountains to the east. Our lab, El, is the greatest of companions, along with our horses and cats. Hunting and writing are my passions. I enjoy putting them together with adventurous hunting in my writing. These adventures are based on true hunts and the ongoing movies in my head. My goal is to write it as accurately and quickly as I see it. I have written my entire life, but Closures is the first of my novels I have wanted to share with the world. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. I look forward to sharing the next of KC's adventures with you!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PULITZER PRIZE FINALIST • The gripping true story of a murder on an Indian reservation, and the unforgettable Arikara woman who becomes obsessed with solving it—an urgent work of literary journalism. “I don’t know a more complicated, original protagonist in literature than Lissa Yellow Bird, or a more dogged reporter in American journalism than Sierra Crane Murdoch.”—William Finnegan, Pulitzer Prize–winning author of Barbarian Days In development as a Paramount+ original series WINNER OF THE OREGON BOOK AWARD • NOMINATED FOR THE EDGAR® AWARD • NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR BY The New York Times Book Review • NPR • Publishers Weekly When Lissa Yellow Bird was released from prison in 2009, she found her home, the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota, transformed by the Bakken oil boom. In her absence, the landscape had been altered beyond recognition, her tribal government swayed by corporate interests, and her community burdened by a surge in violence and addiction. Three years later, when Lissa learned that a young white oil worker, Kristopher “KC” Clarke, had disappeared from his reservation worksite, she became particularly concerned. No one knew where Clarke had gone, and few people were actively looking for him. Yellow Bird traces Lissa’s steps as she obsessively hunts for clues to Clarke’s disappearance. She navigates two worlds—that of her own tribe, changed by its newfound wealth, and that of the non-Native oilmen, down on their luck, who have come to find work on the heels of the economic recession. Her pursuit of Clarke is also a pursuit of redemption, as Lissa atones for her own crimes and reckons with generations of trauma. Yellow Bird is an exquisitely written, masterfully reported story about a search for justice and a remarkable portrait of a complex woman who is smart, funny, eloquent, compassionate, and—when it serves her cause—manipulative. Drawing on eight years of immersive investigation, Sierra Crane Murdoch has produced a profound examination of the legacy of systematic violence inflicted on a tribal nation and a tale of extraordinary healing.

Book This Family Sucks Sincerely Yours Peter Frazier

Download or read book This Family Sucks Sincerely Yours Peter Frazier written by Leigh M. Hall and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-02 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Have you ever thought that maybe you didn't belong? Have you ever looked around at your family members and thought, there is no way I am related to these people? Both Peter Frazier and Trent Lockley thought this about the families they were born into. Two boys, the same age, miles apart. They are both from small Texas towns, born in the same hospital on the same day. However, their lives turned out to be nothing alike. The Frazier family is a large, lively bunch. The fact that they are close-knit and share every detail of their lives with each other always seemed a little strange to Peter. Although he loves every one of his six siblings and his overly affectionate parents, he couldn't help but feel out of place around them. Trent Lockley is an only child born to abusive parents and spent most of his life posing as a punching bag for the town drunks. As he grew into a young man, his anger grew with him. Trent got in a lot of trouble as an adolescent. He would start fights at school frequently, and once he grew up and got even bigger than his drug addict father, he started fights at home. It is the summer of 1996; the Frazier family is preparing for Peter's High School graduation, and Peter is a little nervous because he has yet to make any plans for his future. He always figured that once he turned eighteen, he would hit the road and never look back, but now that the day is here, he isn't so sure. The idea of leaving his family, mainly his baby sister Tallulah behind now scares him. Right before the two strangers turn eighteen, they cross paths. Trent has somehow managed to wiggle his way into the Fraziers life, and Peter becomes suspicious of this newcomer and starts to question everything about him. The rest of the Frazier family seem to be blinded by Trent's charm and simply adore him. A dark cloud is hovering over the once perfect household. At every turn, the Frazier family get nothing but devastating news. Peter is not sure what this Trent character is capable of, but everything has gone wrong since his arrival, so he must have something to do with it. Little by little, the truth is discovered, and Peter starts to realize that his family doesn't actually suck as much as he initially thought.
