Download or read book CONTEMPORARY ADIVASI WRITINGS IN INDIA SHIFTING PARADIGMS written by Dr. Rajshree Trivedi, Dr. Rupalee Burke and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2018-11-12 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains scholarly articles by academicians and activists offering meaningful critiques on various aspects of writings by Adivasis, their way of life, and the reception/implications of these writings based on disciplines such as social psychology, cultural studies, political science, sociology, anthropology and cognitive linguistics. The contributors have put in sincere efforts to explain the critical or historical theory which their articles are couched in. While the first few articles offer critical analyses of writings by Adivasi and non-Adivasi writers, inadequate representation of writings by Adivasi writers and activists in university syllabi across Kerala, issues of publication, reception and the importance of translation, comparative analysis of novels by Adivasi and indigenous writers, ethics of reading Adivasi literature, case study of the writings of an independent researcher of Adivasi history, ecocritical analysis of the poems of a poet largely belonging to the oral tradition, the last two articles are empirical observations of activists, who are actively involved in the cultural sphere of the Adivasis in India and outside, on the need for inter-tribal councils and the importance of orality. The book aims to facilitate academicians, scholars, researchers and students by providing fresh and unexplored critical perspectives on subjects related to contemporary Adivasi writings and culture in India.

English language poems are provided with complete summary so, that readers may able to understand the thinking and imagination behind each poem in most simple way. Summary of English poems is explained by me (author itself), but readers are free to have their own point of view. Readers may take out other possible detailed meaning of English poetries. This book is a very good combination of English and Hindi languages reading material. On, one hand it contains English poetries with summary and on another hand it has Hindi poetries plus Shayaria. Some of the Urdu words are also use in Hindi poetries and shayaria. Thinking and imagination that is associated and assorted to build up this book will stimulate you to scream different pictures in your mind. More over this book will inspire readers to go forward in their life as well as to experience different aspects of life and to have big achievements for own self and for the whole world. This book does not get its name at once. In earlier days of my writing it's name was 'My thinking, My writing' but I didn’t found that name much effective therefore later on that name was changed and finally this book got its name as "Kavyanjali". The name 'Kavyanjali' suits perfectly with its inner content reading material. I hope readers will like this book and will appreciate its literary work and if readers are going to do so then in future, they will see few more good collections of "Kavyanjali".

Download or read book Prime Time Soap Operas on Indian Television written by Shoma Munshi and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the phenomenon of prime time soap operas on Indian television. An anthropological insight into social issues and practices of contemporary India through the television, this volume analyzes the production of soaps within India’s cultural fabric. It deconstructs themes and issues surrounding the "everyday" and the "middle class" through the fiction of the "popular". In its second edition, this still remains the only book to examine prime time soap operas on Indian television. Without in any way changing the central arguments of the first edition, it adds an essential introductory chapter tracking the tectonic shifts in the Indian "mediascape" over the past decade – including how the explosion of regional language channels and an era of multiple screens have changed soap viewing forever. Meticulously researched and persuasively argued, the book traces how prime time soaps in India still grab the maximum eyeballs and remain the biggest earners for TV channels. The book will be of interest to students of anthropology and sociology, media and cultural studies, visual culture studies, gender and family studies, and also Asian studies in general. It is also an important resource for media producers, both in content production and television channels, as well as for the general reader.

Download or read book Gotama The Buddha written by Dr. Dhananjay Chavan and published by Embassy Books. This book was released on with total page 550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A book not only for every follower of the Buddha around the world but also for every person who wants to understand the Buddha. This book is a study with a heart but one where reason is allowed to be free. In any study of the historical Buddha there are two major obstacles to confront. Firstly, there are the systematic prejudices that developed against him through the centuries in his own country. Secondly, some of the fantastic myths associated with him can give pause to a modern man of science. As this book shows, however, these hurdles can be readily surmounted. This is done by responding to the Buddha's famous exhortation to "come and see" Rather than accept the Buddha blindly, the book invites readers to simply open their hearts and minds enough to examine him in a fair manner. Though the author uses the Tipitaka as his primary authority, he does not tie himself to any particular tradition. The Buddha's universal teaching came out of the Indian subcontinent's agrarian culture. He was firmly rooted in this world and not in any heavenly realms. The book takes the reader on a journey into the life and the teachings of this son of Earth-an extraordinary human being who offered his fellow humans a timeless road map to a happy life. The book also raises questions that will hopefully help to foster healthy dialogue, in the true spirit in which the Buddha wanted others to look at and follow his teaching.
Download or read book Citizens Participation and Media in Central and Eastern European Nations written by Karolina Koc-Michalska and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-12-02 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries have faced significant political, economic, social, and technological transformations over the last four decades. Democratic processes, after relative stabilisation, have begun to tremble again around polarizing values, populist leaders, or nationalistic ideologies. Online communication, especially social media platforms, play a vital role in shaping how citizens interact with the state, political actors, media, and other citizens. This book focuses on some of the challenges democratic institutions in Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries face in transforming and sustaining civil society and captures how the digital media environments mitigate or exacerbate those challenges. The chapters in this book focus on the role that online platforms play in shaping satisfaction with democracy in the CEE region, the interactions between journalists and political actors, the strategic media coverage of elections, affective polarisation and political antagonism, and discursive attempts to discourage young people from civic engagement. The first section of the book looks at CEE countries from a comparative perspective, and the second section examines specific case studies within different CEE countries such as Albania and Kosovo, Czechia and Hungary, Poland and Ukraine. This volume will be a key resource for scholars and researchers of Communication Studies, Politics, Media Studies, Sociology and Central and Eastern European studies. The chapters in this book were originally published in the Journal of Information, Technology & Politics.
