Book excerpt: From 2nd international conference on elementary particles; Aix-en- Provence, France (6 Sep 1973). The results of an expcriment designed to study the K−p yields LAMBDA /sup o/ i/sup o/ pi /sup o/ and K−p yields SIGMA /sup o/ pi /sup o/ pi /sup o/ formation channels in a heavy l iquid bubble chamber are reported. These channels are impossible to observe directly by the hydrogen bubble chamber technique. Reaction cross sections for the two channels are presented. A comparison is made with cross sections of other relevant experiments. The fraction Y/sup */(1355) pi /sup o/ and LAMBDA (1405) pi /sup o/ is calculated on their respec tive Dalitz plots. (auth).

Book Analysis of the Interaction K p Yields Sigma pi in the 1575 to 1750 MeV Region

Download or read book Analysis of the Interaction K p Yields Sigma pi in the 1575 to 1750 MeV Region written by and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From 2nd internationnl conference on elementary particles; Aix-en- Provence, France (6 Sep 1973). A formation type experiment made in a heavy liquid bubble chamber for the channel K−p yields SIGMA /sup o/ pi /sup o/ in the 1575 to 1750 M eV cm energy range is considered. From the results containing ~2/3 of the statistics, essentially the total and differential cross sections for this channel are presented and compared with the results of a hydrogen BC experiment made by a CHS collaboration, where the SIGMA /sup o/ pi / sup o/ channel was studied indirectly. Book K p Yields Sigma pi Cross Section Between 1575 and 1710 MeV Cm Energy Range with Detection of Gammas

Download or read book K p Yields Sigma pi Cross Section Between 1575 and 1710 MeV Cm Energy Range with Detection of Gammas written by and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From conference on baryon resonances; West Lafayette, Indiana, USA (20 Apr 1973). A study was made, with good gamma detection, of the individual channels that contribute to the reactions K−p yields LAMBDA neutrals in the K− momentum range from 525 to 820 MeV/c. The SIGMA /sup o/ pi /sup o/ cross se ction is considered which is difficult to obtain without gamma detection (e.g. in a H2 bubble chamber). Only events with all decay gammas detected are used for analysis. The results have direct bearing on the SIGMA pi branching ratios of the LAMBDA (1670) and the LAMBDA (1690). (JFP).

Download or read book The Inscriptions 1926 1950 written by John Harvey Kent and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inscriptions found in the excavations at Corinth between 1926 and 1950 are published here which, although fragmentary, provide significant new evidence for the history of Greece in the Roman period. Here the Greek texts before 44 B.C. number only 49; the bulk of the volume deals with 451 texts, both Greek and Latin, of the Roman Imperial period, 220 Greek texts of the Late Roman and Early Byzantine period and 17 after A.D. 800. Text, translation, and commentary are offered for each inscription and a general introduction to each period summarizes the historical information yielded by the texts and includes lists of the names of those who held various Roman offices.

Book Introduction to the Standard Model and Beyond

Download or read book Introduction to the Standard Model and Beyond written by Stuart Raby and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2021-07-08 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Standard Model of particle physics is an amazingly successful theory describing the fundamental particles and forces of nature. This text, written for a two-semester graduate course on the Standard Model, develops a practical understanding of the theoretical concepts it's built upon, to prepare students to enter research. The author takes a historical approach to demonstrate to students the process of discovery which is often overlooked in other textbooks, presenting quantum field theory and symmetries as the necessary tools for describing and understanding the Standard Model. He develops these tools using a basic understanding of quantum mechanics and classical field theory, such as Maxwell's electrodynamics, before discussing the important role that Noether's theorem and conserved charges play in the theory. Worked examples feature throughout the text, while homework exercises are included for the first five parts, with solutions available online for instructors. Inspired by the author's own teaching experience, suggestions for independent research topics have been provided for the second-half of the course, which students can then present to the rest of the class.

  • Pages : 973 pages

Download or read book The CBM Physics Book written by Bengt Friman and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-03-10 with total page 973 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exhaustive survey is the result of a four year effort by many leading researchers in the field to produce both a readable introduction and a yardstick for the many upcoming experiments using heavy ion collisions to examine the properties of nuclear matter. The books falls naturally into five large parts, first examining the bulk properties of strongly interacting matter, including its equation of state and phase structure. Part II discusses elementary hadronic excitations of nuclear matter, Part III addresses the concepts and models regarding the space-time dynamics of nuclear collision experiments, Part IV collects the observables from past and current high-energy heavy-ion facilities in the context of the theoretical predictions specific to compressed baryonic matter. Part V finally gives a brief description of the experimental concepts. The book explicitly addresses everyone working or planning to enter the field of high-energy nuclear physics.

The volume features notable contributors, including a preface by Cees Hamelink, an introduction by David Miller and William Dinan, and chapters from Justin Lewis, Robin Andersen, Henry Giroux, James Winter, Robert Jensen, Stuart Allan, Richard Keeble, Yasmin Jiwani, David Berry, Gerald Sussman, and Andrew Mullen.

Book The Baltic States and Their Region

Download or read book The Baltic States and Their Region written by David James Smith and published by Rodopi. This book was released on 2005 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With EU and NATO membership for the Baltic States now a reality, this volume examines the relationship of the three countries, their constituent peoples and their surrounding region to the wider Europe, both historically and in the period since 1991. In particular, the contributors seek to locate the Baltic area within the manifold debates surrounding the concepts of "new" and "old" Europe, including those occasioned by the current conflict in Iraq. Covering issues of identity, sovereignty, minority rights, security and relations with Russia the work assesses the likely contribution of this region to an enlarged Euro-Atlantic community. It will appeal to specialists and students in the fields of area studies, history, politics and international relations.
