Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical Thermodynamics and Statistical Aspects: Questions to Ask in Fundamentals and Principles covers a full range of topics in macroscopic and statistical thermodynamics. Every step in the book is compiled with sharp and precise attention to detail. Derivations cover fundamental relationships and reinforce and extend the knowledge gained form an earlier exposure to thermodynamics. The book is filled with all kinds of physics processes, a variety of quantum mechanics, and calculus problems involving timely mathematical functions. Special emphases is given to fundamental concepts and their chemical interpretations, which are essential to understanding molecular formation and reaction mechanism. This book will be a useful reference source for undergraduates and postgraduates taking courses in chemistry, students in chemical engineering, and those in the materials sciences. It will also be of value to research workers who would like an introduction to the essential principles of physical chemistry. - Includes detailed solutions with the necessary mathematical techniques provided for every problem - Addresses problems incorporating a variety of types of chemical and physical data to illustrate the interdependence of issues - Includes a "Questions and Answers" feature which differentiates this book from competing books in the field

Download or read book Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics written by Jean-Louis Ferrier and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-11-04 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book includes a set of selected papers from the tenth “International Conference on Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics” (ICINCO 2013), held in Reykjavík, Iceland, from 29 to 31 July 2013. The conference was organized in four simultaneous tracks: “Intelligent Control Systems and Optimization”, “Robotics and Automation”, “Signal Processing, Sensors, Systems Modeling and Control” and “Industrial Engineering, Production and Management”. The book is based on the same structure. ICINCO 2013 received 255 paper submissions from 50 countries, in all continents. After a double blind paper review performed by the Program Committee only 30% were published and presented orally. A further refinement was made after the conference, based also on the assessment of presentation quality, so that this book includes the extended and revised versions of the very best papers of ICINCO 2013.
Download or read book Clustering written by Rui Xu and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-11-03 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book to take a truly comprehensive look at clustering. It begins with an introduction to cluster analysis and goes on to explore: proximity measures; hierarchical clustering; partition clustering; neural network-based clustering; kernel-based clustering; sequential data clustering; large-scale data clustering; data visualization and high-dimensional data clustering; and cluster validation. The authors assume no previous background in clustering and their generous inclusion of examples and references help make the subject matter comprehensible for readers of varying levels and backgrounds.

Download or read book Textile Activity and Cultural Identity in Sicily Between the Late Bronze Age and Archaic Period written by Gabriella Longhitano and published by Oxbow Books. This book was released on 2021-06-30 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clothing was an essential part of material culture in ancient societies both as a form of body protection and as house equipment. Besides a practical function, textiles played a crucial role in communicating various aspects of social and personal identity. Based largely on the analysis of textile tools, this book is intended to be the first systematic attempt at reconstructing textile culture in ancient Sicily. Textile implements represent the most abundant category of evidence for textile activity in Sicily and in this book they are used as a means to explore the social dynamics within cultural interactions in the final Bronze–Iron Age and Archaic Sicily. The book begins with an overview of the cultural complexity of communities in Sicily and the Aeolian islands, focusing on two crucial periods of Sicilian history, which are characterised by intense movements of peoples from the Italian peninsula and the establishment of Greek and Phoenician settlements. Through the investigation of textile tools, the book discusses several key aspects, including technological features of textile technology and production, knowledge transfer, networks of weavers, as well as the social significance of textile activity. By employing an interdisciplinary perspective, this book is important not only for textile specialists but also for scholars and students dealing with culturally hybrid frameworks of ancient Sicily and provides a springboard for future studies on textile culture and cultural interactions in the ancient world.
Download or read book The Cosmos of Khnumhotep II at Beni Hasan written by Janice Kamrin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-01-11 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1999. High in a cliff at the remote site of Beni Hasan in Middle Egypt, thirty-nine ancient tombs line a narrow ledge above the Nile River. These tombs were cut into the rock face, with pillars of living rock often left standing inside the echoing chambers. The tomb of Khnumhotep II dates to the early 12th Dynasty, primarily to the reign of Amenemhet II. The owner was a high official of the ancient administrative area in which Beni Hasan was located, the Oryx (XVIth Upper Egyptian) none or province. His primary title was Overseer of the Eastern Desert, a title which he held from Year 19 of Amenemhet II (c. 1910 B.C.) until at least Year 6 of Senwosret II (c. 1891 B.C.). This monument is the latest of the large Beni Hasan tombs, and represents the culmination of the series. The detailed analysis of this complex tomb necessarily comprises most of this volume.
