Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In June 1863, the Southern army was hungry and in need of supplies. So its leader, General Robert E. Lee, sets his sights northward into Pennsylvania. While the abundant farmlands and ripening orchards will make the tiny town of Gettysburg an idyllic destination for the soldiers, General Lee sees it as a most strategic location. As small and inconsequential the town may have seemed, its main roads led to several important northern cities--Harrisburg, the state capital, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. So his army began its march, which the people in Gettysburg heard about and watched with great trepidation. They led their livestock into hiding, moved their merchandise to other locations, and buried their money and other valuables in their yards. But some of the teens were excited about the possibility of a battle being fought right in their sleepy rural hometown. So we see Daniel eager to join the cause, Tillie happily greeting the arriving Union soldiers with song, and Albertus following the Union soldiers through town with his friends. But they were ill-prepared for the real experience and all-too-tragic consequences of men brutally fighting each other. Guided by strong parents, the teens are "transformed" into people who are able to extend compassion to their enemies.

They’ve lived an idyllic existence on their man-made island over the decades. For Acharon, these have been good times, quiet times. Life, though, has other plans. Murphy’s suicide and Sovelet’s medical diagnosis have shattered the illusion Acharon has so carefully crafted. There is no more sitting and watching sunsets while humanity winds down to extinction. Not if he wants to save Sovelet’s life. To do so, Acharon and Sovelet must face a city gone wild. A city that hasn’t seen a human in decades and has no fear of them. It is a city filled with dangers and bad memories. But Acharon will face everything to keep Sovelet alive and safe. Death will come in time, but not without a fight. Not if Acharon has any say in the matter. In the tradition of Earth Abides, Dog Stars, and On The Beach, Last Wave explores what it is to be human and what it means to be alive. Start reading now!

Book excerpt: "Read R.R. Virdi!"―Jim Butcher, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Dresden Files Myths begin, and a storyteller's tale deepens, in the essential sequel to R.R. Virdi's breakout Silk Road-inspired epic fantasy debut, The First Binding. Some stories are hidden for a reason. All tales have a price. And every debt must be paid. I killed three men as a child and earned the name Bloodletter. Then I set fire to the fabled Ashram. I've been a bird and robbed a merchant king of a ransom of gold. And I have crossed desert sands and cutthroat alleys to repay my debt. I’ve stood before the eyes of god, faced his judgement, and cast aside the thousand arrows that came with it. And I have passed through the Doors of Midnight and lived to tell the tale. I have traded one hundred and one stories with a creature as old as time, and survived with only my cleverness, a candle, and a broken promise. And most recently of all, I have killed a prince, though the stories say I have killed more than one. My name is Ari. These are my legends. And these are my lies.
