Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all." 1 John 1:5 God is light; He is the source where all light, whether it is physical, moral or spiritual originates. Light in this context denotes luminous clearness; radiant shining . . . glowing, the free and benevolent source from where all light flows. It is absolutely free from any other intermixture since in Him there is no darkness at all. No man has ever seen God, except in the manifestation of His only begotten Son our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the light of the world . . . He is the bright and the morning star, Revelation 22:16 states: "I, Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and the morning star." Just as the morning star rises before dawn . . . Christ is the day star that arises in our hearts. His light dispels all darkness. He is the truth and the life, the eternal life of salvation. He is the only potentate and in Him all things consist. He is our provider, sustainer, healer, comforter and Sovereign Lord. We have unspeakable joy because of His abiding love. Jesus is the messianic deliverer that ushered in the gospel and reconciled us back to our heavenly Father; AND He is the sure prophecy that will usher in the dawn of a new day . . . a brighter day . . . "And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband." Revelation 21:2 Prayerfully, if you do not know Jesus Christ in the pardon of your sins, that you will be compelled to come to the light and accept eternal salvation after reading these short messages that point you to the scriptures from the word of God . . . and if you're a Christian, then hopefully, you will be inspired to witness to some lost soul, read words that will comfort you in times of turmoil, sickness or indecision;

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neither a commentary on the book of Revelation nor a devotional work -- though it offers aspects of both -- Joy in Our Weakness is instead a theological and practical guide that ushers readers into the very presence of Christ and His Lordship over the powers of evil. Marva Dawn writes compassionately for those who suffer, for this book was born out of her own struggles with physical limitations and chronic illness, and it is intended to help the whole Church learn how to find Joy in every circumstance of life, especially in trials and sufferings. After outlining some important foundational principles in three introductory chapters, Dawn guides readers through the whole book of Revelation, pointing out the errors of those who try to calendarize the end of the world and instead delineating how The Revelation reveals Christ's Lordship, exposes the workings of the powers, and sustains those who suffer until evil is ultimately defeated. Now thoroughly revised for a wider readership, Joy in Our Weakness highlights The Revelation's original purpose -- to comfort afflicted, suffering believers -- and spells out a biblically grounded "theology of weakness," offering a rare gift to the Church today. A wealth of insight and encouragement truly awaits the reader of these pages. Book jacket.

Is it possible to sing the Lord's song in a foreign land? Christians today find themselves caught up in the massive sweep of secularizing culture. Do we have a joyful song to sing anymore? Do we know what our song has been throughout history? Could we possibly sing as a mighty choir, just perhaps igniting spiritual renewal for our world--and for each one of us as well? This book proposes the possibility of finding a new song for our time.

It honors the Mother of God as the exemplar of the Christian life by presenting an anthology of Marian reflections grounded in Scripture texts, litanies, and catechetical teaching about Mary. This book is designed to be used by individuals for private study and prayer and by ministers for study, prayer, and preaching. The goal of this book is to foster ordinary Marian spirituality as it flows from the Bible. An eight-part exercise is offered for each of the entries: (1) a title; (2) a footnote listing where a specific Scripture passage is used in Marian masses; (3) a text giving the notation for the biblical passage; (4) a few verses from the biblical text; (5) a two-paragraph reflection on the biblical text and its application to the Blessed Virgin Mary; (6) a second footnote identifying references to various post-Vatican II documents about Mary; (7) a journal/meditation question for personal appropriation of Mariology; and (8) a concluding prayer.

Download or read book Joy To The World written by Delois Hill and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2019-06-05 with total page 114 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Joy to the World is a book of poems that represent the manifestation of the spirit in poetry as heard and seen through the eyes of the writer. These poems were given to illuminate, to strength and encourage, to pull down strongholds as we meditate on what is being said. The title Joy to the World was given to me at the end of this book by the Holy Spirit to echo the intent of the poems for all who will read them, joy to the soul. Joy to the World expresses the glory of God in His creation, the hosts of heaven and earth, the seen and unseen, the sun, the moon the stars and people, and the beauty in every season. There are poems describing the beauty in our surroundings as we pass through each given day, if we only look and see. There are other poems given to help us avoid one of life's strongest issues, and that is pride; it's that thing that blind us to the beauty of what's around us. Little Minds was written to put to death pride. In the back of the book, you will find thirty topics for meditation; each topic has a scripture reference for guidance as you read to write what was given you by the spirit. God deposited something great in each of us. If it's writing, be inspired to write the vision and make it plain, and whoever reads it will tell another. The intent of this book of poetry is to bring ‘Joy' to the soul and inspire a move of action for others to write, if a desire is there.

Book Faith   Joy

Download or read book Faith Joy written by Fernando Cardenal, S.J. and published by Orbis Books. This book was released on 2015-09-15 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Hope is necessary in our lives. . . . . We have lost some battles but I believe that our cause is invincible because it is the cause of justice, the cause of love."--Fernando Cardenal. Fernando Cardenal, a Nicaraguan Jesuit priest, oversaw a national literacy campaign and served as Minister of Education in the revolutionary Sandinista government in the 1980s. The Sandinista revolution was unusual for the wide participation of Christians in the struggle. However, the role of priests in the revolutionary government (including Fernando's brother, Ernesto Cardenal, a famous poet), was a source of bitter controversy with the Vatican. When he declined to resign his government post (judging that it would be "a grave sin if I were to abandon my priestly option for the poor"), Cardenal was suspended from the priesthood and expelled from the Society of Jesus. Underlying this dramatic story is the deep sense of vocation, which inspired Cardenal's commitment to the poor, his decision to join the revolutionary struggle, and his work within the revolution to instill values of self-sacrifice, generosity, and love. When he later became disillusioned by the corruption of certain party leaders, these same values prompted his break with the Sandinistas. Moving and inspiring, Faith and Joy--which ends with Cardenal's unprecedented readmission to the Society of Jesus--relates the journey of a priest who consistently followed his faith and conscience to serve the poor and to live out the revolutionary implications of the Gospel.
