Book A Comparison of the Job Attitudes and Interest Patterns of Air Traffic and Airway Facility Personnel

Download or read book A Comparison of the Job Attitudes and Interest Patterns of Air Traffic and Airway Facility Personnel written by Roger C. Smith and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Air traffic control specialists (ATCSs) and airway facility technicians (AFTs) were compared on measures of job attitudes and interests. A total of 792 ATCSs and 2,366 AFTs completed the Strong Vocational Interest Blank (SVIB) and questionnaires concerning job satisfaction and job attitudes. Both groups indicated high overall job satisfaction and general agreement about areas of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. However, ATCSs reported more satisfaction than AFTs from various aspects of the work itself and from salary, while AFTs were more satisfied with responsibility, working conditions, and Civil Service retirement. The AFTs were more favorable to management than ATCSs. On the SVIB, ATCSs had higher scores than AFTs on scales concerned with interpersonally oriented vocations (e.g., social service, sales) and lower scores on technical-scientific occupational scales. The findings suggest that these two employee groups have much in common with respect to their attitudes toward work while at the same time having certain discriminable characteristics that have implications for both personnel and motivational programs. This book was released on 1986 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Leadership and Management Development Center (LMDC), Maxwell AFB, Alabama, uses a detailed job attitude survey, the Organizational Assessment Package (OAP), to assess the job attitudes of Air Force personnel. This study examines extensive LMDC data (collected through the OAP between 1 October 1981 and 16 September 1985) and compares the job attitudes of Air Training Command (ATC) officers, enlisted members, and civilians to 'other' Air Force officers, enlisted members, and civilians. The study concludes that, while very few demographic differences existed between comparison groups, ATC personnel had more positive job attitudes and higher job satisfaction than their non-ATC counterparts.

Job attitudes were measured using the Leadership and Management Development Center's Organizational Assessment Package survey data base. SAC personnel's attitudes differed significantly from those of the data base in 54 of 63 comparisons. SAC officers and civilians were predominantly more positive than their Air Force counterparts, while SAC enlisted personnel were less positive. Study recommends SAC staff disseminate these results to commanders and continue study in the areas of enlisted personnel attitudes and job related satisfaction scores.

Book A Study of Job Characteristics and Job Attitudes at a Tactical Air Command Fighter Aircraft Maintenance Complex

Download or read book A Study of Job Characteristics and Job Attitudes at a Tactical Air Command Fighter Aircraft Maintenance Complex written by Walter J. Guthrie and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study investigates job attitudes of enlisted maintenance personnel (FMS and OMS) serving in a TAC fighter aircraft maintenance complex. The overall objective was to determine if a job enrichment program might improve individual motivation and organizational effectiveness. Analysis consisted of measuring job satisfaction levels, using the Hoppock job satisfaction measure, and measuring satisfaction with the various dimensions of the work and work environment, using the Hackman/Oldham 'Job Diagnostic Survey'. Compared with sample populations drawn from the total Air Force population, the study group exhibited a 'lower' degree of job satisfaction. Analysis indicates that work environment factors are most highly associated with the dissatisfaction displayed. Overall, growth satisfaction (a measure of how much challenge a job provides, opportunity for accomplishment, potential to exercise responsibility, and potential for personal growth and development) was found to be the primary determinant of job satisfaction for this study group.

Book Job Attitudes of Pacific Air Force Personnel

Download or read book Job Attitudes of Pacific Air Force Personnel written by Joseph C. Menendez and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study uses statistical analyses of data collected by the Leadership and Management Development Center (LMDC) to compare job attitudes of personnel assigned to the Pacific Air Force (PACAF), with those of USAF personnel assigned to other commands and theaters. The data base was arranged according to two major categories, PACAF and other USAF personnel. These were then organized into three personnel categories: officers, enlisted, and civilian personnel. The comparison of these subcategories shows that job attitudes for PACAF personnel differed significantly from other USAF personnel in 15 of 21 measured attitudinal factors. The study finds PACAF personnel generally show greater job satisfaction than USAF personnel assigned elsewhere.

Book Job Attitudes of Medical Personnel

Download or read book Job Attitudes of Medical Personnel written by Gloria M. Hammonds and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research was to determine if there are significant differences between the job attitudes of medical personnel n comparisons of CONUS versus overseas, officers versus enlisted, and male versus female (as measured by the USAF Organizational Assessment Package--OAP). In conclusion, statistically significant differences are found between the three groupings across the three OAP areas examined. The Work Itself, Work Group Process, and Work Group Output. Job attitudes of overseas medical personnel are more positive than the attitudes of CONUS medical personnel in the area of The Work Itself. In the area of Work Group Process and Work Group Output CONUS medical personnel are more positive. The medical officer exhibited more positive attitudes than the medical enlisted in each major area. Also, job attitudes of the medical male are more positive than the attitudes of the medical female. Finally, assignment location seem to impact job attitudes. (Author).

Book Job Attitudes of USAF Contracting and Manufacturing Personnel

Download or read book Job Attitudes of USAF Contracting and Manufacturing Personnel written by John M. Pace and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The analysis of job attitudes can be helpful to commanders and functional managers by highlighting factors where improved leadership and management practices can impact performance and retention. Using the Leadership and Management Development Center's Organizational Assessment Package data base, this project compared the attitudes of contracting and manufacturing personnel to those of personnel in other Air Force career fields. Among its findings are that contracting and manufacturing personnel have a higher degree of general job satisfaction than do personnel in other career fields. However, it also identified less positive 65XX personnel attitudes about performance goals, feedback, training, autonomy, and work repetition for various personnel categories. The report recommends ways to capitalize on strengths and compensate for weakenesses in the 65XX career field. (Author).
