Book Jet Single Time Lagrange Geometry and Its Applications

Download or read book Jet Single Time Lagrange Geometry and Its Applications written by Vladimir Balan and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-09-23 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Develops the theory of jet single-time Lagrange geometry and presents modern-day applications Jet Single-Time Lagrange Geometry and Its Applications guides readers through the advantages of jet single-time Lagrange geometry for geometrical modeling. With comprehensive chapters that outline topics ranging in complexity from basic to advanced, the book explores current and emerging applications across a broad range of fields, including mathematics, theoretical and atmospheric physics, economics, and theoretical biology. The authors begin by presenting basic theoretical concepts that serve as the foundation for understanding how and why the discussed theory works. Subusequent chapters compare the geometrical and physical aspects of jet relativistic time-dependent Lagrange geometry to the classical time-dependent Lagrange geometry. A collection of jet geometrical objects are also examined such as d-tensors, relativistic time-dependent semisprays, harmonic curves, and nonlinear connections. Numerous applications, including the gravitational theory developed by both the Berwald-Moór metric and the Chernov metric, are also presented. Throughout the book, the authors offer numerous examples that illustrate how the theory is put into practice, and they also present numerous applications in which the solutions of first-order ordinary differential equation systems are regarded as harmonic curves on 1-jet spaces. In addition, numerous opportunities are provided for readers to gain skill in applying jet single-time Lagrange geometry to solve a wide range of problems. Extensively classroom-tested to ensure an accessible presentation, Jet Single-Time Lagrange Geometry and Its Applications is an excellent book for courses on differential geometry, relativity theory, and mathematical models at the graduate level. The book also serves as an excellent reference for researchers, professionals, and academics in physics, biology, mathematics, and economics who would like to learn more about model-providing geometric structures.

Book Dual Jet Geometrization for Time Dependent Hamiltonians and Applications

Download or read book Dual Jet Geometrization for Time Dependent Hamiltonians and Applications written by Mircea Neagu and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-31 with total page 91 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book studies a category of mathematical objects called Hamiltonians, which are dependent on both time and momenta. The authors address the development of the distinguished geometrization on dual 1-jet spaces for time-dependent Hamiltonians, in contrast with the time-independent variant on cotangent bundles. Two parts are presented to include both geometrical theory and the applicative models: Part One: Time-dependent Hamilton Geometry and Part Two: Applications to Dynamical Systems, Economy and Theoretical Physics. The authors present 1-jet spaces and their duals as appropriate fundamental ambient mathematical spaces used to model classical and quantum field theories. In addition, the authors present dual jet Hamilton geometry as a distinct metrical approach to various interdisciplinary problems.

Book The Convenient Setting of Global Analysis

Download or read book The Convenient Setting of Global Analysis written by Andreas Kriegl and published by American Mathematical Society. This book was released on 2024-08-15 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book lays the foundations of differential calculus in infinite dimensions and discusses those applications in infinite dimensional differential geometry and global analysis not involving Sobolev completions and fixed point theory. The approach is simple: a mapping is called smooth if it maps smooth curves to smooth curves. Up to Fr‚chet spaces, this notion of smoothness coincides with all known reasonable concepts. In the same spirit, calculus of holomorphic mappings (including Hartogs' theorem and holomorphic uniform boundedness theorems) and calculus of real analytic mappings are developed. Existence of smooth partitions of unity, the foundations of manifold theory in infinite dimensions, the relation between tangent vectors and derivations, and differential forms are discussed thoroughly. Special emphasis is given to the notion of regular infinite dimensional Lie groups. Many applications of this theory are included: manifolds of smooth mappings, groups of diffeomorphisms, geodesics on spaces of Riemannian metrics, direct limit manifolds, perturbation theory of operators, and differentiability questions of infinite dimensional representations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes a snapshot of the mathematical foundations of classical and quantum mechanics from a contemporary mathematical viewpoint. It covers a number of important recent developments in dynamical systems and mathematical physics and places them in the framework of the more classical approaches; the presentation is enhanced by many illustrative examples concerning topics which have been of especial interest to workers in the field, and by sketches of the proofs of the major results. The comprehensive bibliographies are designed to permit the interested reader to retrace the major stages in the development of the field if he wishes. Not so much a detailed textbook for plodding students, this volume, like the others in the series, is intended to lead researchers in other fields and advanced students quickly to an understanding of the 'state of the art' in this area of mathematics. As such it will serve both as a basic reference work on important areas of mathematical physics as they stand today, and as a good starting point for further, more detailed study for people new to this field.

  • Pages : 376 pages

Download or read book Gauge Mechanics written by L. Mangiarotti and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents in a unified way modern geometric methods in analytical mechanics based on the application of fibre bundles, jet manifold formalism and the related concept of connection. Non-relativistic mechanics is seen as a particular field theory over a one-dimensional base. In fact, the concept of connection is the major link throughout the book. In the gauge scheme of mechanics, connections appear as reference frames, dynamic equations, and in Lagrangian and Hamiltonian formalisms. Non-inertial forces, energy conservation laws and other phenomena related to reference frames are analyzed; that leads us to observable physics. The gauge formulation of classical mechanics is extended to quantum mechanics under different reference frames. Special topics on geometric BRST mechanics, relativistic mechanics and others, together with many examples, are also dealt with.

Book Exterior Differential Systems

Download or read book Exterior Differential Systems written by Robert L. Bryant and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives a treatment of exterior differential systems. It will in clude both the general theory and various applications. An exterior differential system is a system of equations on a manifold defined by equating to zero a number of exterior differential forms. When all the forms are linear, it is called a pfaffian system. Our object is to study its integral manifolds, i. e. , submanifolds satisfying all the equations of the system. A fundamental fact is that every equation implies the one obtained by exterior differentiation, so that the complete set of equations associated to an exterior differential system constitutes a differential ideal in the algebra of all smooth forms. Thus the theory is coordinate-free and computations typically have an algebraic character; however, even when coordinates are used in intermediate steps, the use of exterior algebra helps to efficiently guide the computations, and as a consequence the treatment adapts well to geometrical and physical problems. A system of partial differential equations, with any number of inde pendent and dependent variables and involving partial derivatives of any order, can be written as an exterior differential system. In this case we are interested in integral manifolds on which certain coordinates remain independent. The corresponding notion in exterior differential systems is the independence condition: certain pfaffian forms remain linearly indepen dent. Partial differential equations and exterior differential systems with an independence condition are essentially the same object.
