Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A major culture war is raging in America. The battleground includes issues such as abortion, homosexuality, and evolution. The debate continues over whether America was established as a Christian nation and what this thing called "separation of church and state" really means. Some even debate the truth and trustworthiness of the greatest book ever written, the Bible. Most Christians instinctively know what is right but are ill equipped to stand for it, because they do not have the facts. This book will give you the facts that support the truth and thus equip you with the tools you need to stand for what's right. It is time to cut through the prevailing barrage of misinformation and stand for truth based upon the facts. It is time to look clearly at the issues that threaten the fabric of American society and to rise up and call a spade a spade. David Walker is a teacher who became a pastor. He pastored the same church for twenty-eight years, during which time the church grew from 55 to over 500 members. He also started a Christian school that grew to over 500 students. He has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree and has completed all the work for his doctorate except for the dissertation. For twelve years, David taught American history, world history, government, and economics in high schools in Indiana, Ohio, and Florida. His doctoral work consisted of a major in American history with cognates in political science and educational psychology. David has traveled extensively preaching crusades and training pastors on four continents. He has conducted crusades and pastor-training seminars in a number of places in India and Nigeria. He has ministered in crusades and churches in Brazil and Benin and written training materials for house church leaders in China.

Book excerpt: “it’s called a spade” is a reference to calling life like it is instead of hiding the tough stuff and pretending like everything is fine. It’s a collection of stories about life, about people and God, recovery and relapse, heartache and brokenness, and the reality that life is hard, even if you believe in God, even if you don’t. But there is also hope and humor and healing that comes without answers. This is a collection of stories from a human who almost disappeared in her efforts to be seen, a girl who called spades hearts and smiled while bluffing.

Download or read book WHAT IS TIME WHAT IS THE ORIGIN OF TIME AND THE SENSE OF DURATION written by Samuel K. K. Blankson and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-03-31 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The cosmos itself is not governed or regulated by time but by chance, so cosmology can never appear consistently logical. Time and regulation are human concepts. The 'points and instants' notion is no longer credible. Points are our basic intellectual tools since the instants arise through moving from point to point, making time discrete. A.N. Whitehead's definition of time as "a sequence of non-interacting moments" is credible. Russell also said "There is no longer a universal time..." And Professor Eddington observed that time does not 'flow'. The Minkowski 4-D geometry is seen as plainly false, and so time travel is impossible. There are no days in nature at all. There is only one constant day. All existence is daylight. The nights are freakish and irrelevant. The earth's rotations are just flippant shadows over reality. Nothing in astronomy happens only by night and not by day. Logically deduced, time appears to be human and we can solve the problem of how it passes by, too."

Download or read book Mutual Aid written by Dean Spade and published by Verso Books. This book was released on 2020-10-27 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mutual aid is the radical act of caring for each other while working to change the world. Around the globe, people are faced with a spiralling succession of crises, from the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change-induced fires, floods, and storms to the ongoing horrors of mass incarceration, racist policing, brutal immigration enforcement, endemic gender violence, and severe wealth inequality. As governments fail to respond to—or actively engineer—each crisis, ordinary people are finding bold and innovative ways to share resources and support the vulnerable. Survival work, when done alongside social movement demands for transformative change, is called mutual aid. This book is about mutual aid: why it is so important, what it looks like, and how to do it. It provides a grassroots theory of mutual aid, describes how mutual aid is a crucial part of powerful movements for social justice, and offers concrete tools for organizing, such as how to work in groups, how to foster a collective decision-making process, how to prevent and address conflict, and how to deal with burnout. Writing for those new to activism as well as those who have been in social movements for a long time, Dean Spade draws on years of organizing to offer a radical vision of community mobilization, social transformation, compassionate activism, and solidarity.

Download or read book Almost Interesting written by David Spade and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2015-10-27 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: David Spade is best known for his harsh “Hollywood” Minute Sketches on SNL, his starring roles in movies like Joe Dirt and Tommy Boy, and his seven-year stint as Dennis Finch on the series Just Shoot Me. Now, with a wit as dry as the weather in his home state of Arizona, the “comic brat extraordinaire” tells his story in Almost Interesting. First Taking fans back to his childhood as a wannabe cool younger brother and recounting his excruciating road-tour to fame—when he was regularly mistaken for a ten year-old, Spade then dishes about his time crisscrossing the country as a comedian, for low-paying gigs and dragging along his mother’s old suitcase full of props. He also covers his years on SNL during the beloved Rock/Sandler/Farley era of the 1990s, including his close working relationship and friendship with Chris Farley and brags about the ridiculous perks that fame has brought into his life, including the constant fear of being fired, a crazy ex-assistant who attacked him while he was sleeping, a run-in with Eddie Murphy on the mean streets of Beverly Hills, and of course an endless supply of hot chicks. Sometimes dirty, always funny, and as sharp as a tack, Almost Interesting reminds you why David Spade is one of our generation’s favorite funny guys.
