Download or read book Love and the Mystery of Betrayal written by Sandra Lee Dennis and published by . This book was released on 2014-08-19 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is it like to recover from betrayal of trust today in a culture that is blind to the trauma and impatient with grief? When her long-time partner suddenly left her shortly before their wedding, the author found nothing had prepared her for the depth and duration of the pain. Despite having lived through her husband's death years earlier, she was stunned by the intensity of the suffering and could not understand why this shock hit so hard. Her loss of faith in this one person precipitated an existential and spiritual crisis that called her very understanding of human nature into question, and she wanted to know why. As she wrested with what turned out to be a massive trauma, she began to keep careful notes of her inner life-hoping to capture the paradoxes of love, grief and longing mixed with bewilderment and post-traumatic stress. With fearlessness and bracing frankness, she succeeds. "Love and the Mystery of Betrayal" seamlessly blends research and reflection, love and heartbreak, rage and transformation, and the personal with the collective. The deep, engaging writing provides the type of solace only a kindred spirit who has been there can. This achingly moving chronicle and meditation on the mysteries of love and betrayal shows how faith and love can triumph even after the most life-shattering revelations and loss. "This story of heartbreak has a rare quality: it is absolutely honest." -Ginette Paris, PhD, "Heartbreak" ..".a powerful book that will serve many." -Tara Brach, PhD, "Radical Acceptance," "True Refuge" "Sandra Dennis does not sugar-coat the experience of abandonment and betrayal with easy tips on getting over it or with spiritual bypass sleight of hand.... Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the Love of Mary takes the reader on a spiritual journey of tender love that begins with the questions, “How do I fall in love with Mary, the mother of Jesus and my spiritual mother? How do I cultivate a deeper, more intimate and meaningful relationship with her, inviting her into my spiritual life?” Fr. Daniel-Maria Klimek, T.O.R., presents a path of deep spiritual intimacy with Mother Mary that includes practicing the “presence of Mary” in one’s life, consoling her Immaculate Heart through a spirituality of reparation, hearing her voice through her apparitions, and delving into a greater understanding of her sufferings as Mother of Sorrows. For the Love of Mary considers Our Lady’s important identity and role in matters that are seldom mentioned in books about her but are of the utmost importance, such as her role in spiritual warfare and the ministry of exorcism, as well as her role in the renewal of the priesthood in a time when the Church faces so much scandal and confusion. She is the Morning Star that guides the struggling Church—and each one of her children—in the midst of surrounding storms to a purer path.

Download or read book God Betrayed written by Jerald Finney and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2008-08 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God Betrayed explains: (1) the biblical principles concerning government, church, and separation of church and state which one needs to know in order to understand the First Amendment and why it was adopted; (2) the history of the theological warfare in the colonies that eventually resulted in the adoption of the First Amendment; (3) how and why, soon after the ratification of the Constitution and the First Amendment, many churches subjected themselves to the state; (4) how the Supreme Court has used the First Amendment religion clause to remove God from practically all civil government affairs; (5) how civil government entices many churches to abandon their Supernatural and First Amendment freedoms; and (6) how churches in America can operate totally under God and free from any control by civil government. After graduating from college in 1970 and serving as an army officer in the Viet Nam conflict, Jerald Finney worked for the railroad and then started and operated a photography studio in Fort Worth, Texas. He was saved in 1982. God called him to enter the legal profession. He entered the University of Texas School of Law in 1990, and was licensed to practice law in 1993. Since that time, the Lord has guided his career. In 2005, he became lead counsel for the Biblical Law Center. This book is the result of his in depth studies of the issue of separation of church and state, the main issue which is addressed by the Biblical Law Center.

Download or read book Paradise Betrayed written by John Martinkus and published by Quarterly Essay. This book was released on 2002-09-01 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the third Quarterly Essay for 2002 John Martinkus details what is being done to West Papua by its Indonesian overlords. He illustrates how those who seek independence are killed and tortured for their cause. There is now no one like the Papuan leader Theys Eluay, murdered in 2001 by the Indonesian military, and a campaign of death and terror has been launched on those who raise the Morning Star flag. Martinkus shows how the wealth of the Freeport mine underpins a regimen of repression and he reports on the rise of Laskar Jihad, the imported Islamic extremists who spread fear inthe name of Indonesian domination. In a powerful, groundbreaking piece of reportage, Martinkus shows how West Papua is another East Timor waiting to happen and how this is made possible by the indifference of everyone from the United Nations to the Australian government. "John Martinkus' narrative is as engrossing as it is appalling. It is full of menace and madness and the smell of death." —Peter Craven, Introduction "The violence in West Papua today ... is being orchestrated by the same figures in the Indonesian military who were behind the events in East Timor ... the whole repressive network of the Indonesian military that laid [it] waste." —John Martinkus, Paradise Betrayed

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes you on a journey through this little girl's childhood and the abuse and abandonment she endured well into her adulthood--losing her dad at a young age, being catapulted into forty years of trauma through that one event, being emotionally abandoned by her mother and sexually abused by her mother's boyfriend, and then being sent off three thousand miles from her home, because "after all Russell didn't do anything wrong" (according to a paper written by one of her sisters), only to grow up feeling like trash that had been thrown away by the one person she felt should love her the most. She felt unloved, unworthy, hated, and rejected. She also felt betrayed by God and didn't realize it until God gave her the title to this book. Then God came to her one day in her womanhood, and He saw her. He saw her brokenness and began mending the pieces of her soul together. He saw her need for love, and He loved her back to life. He saw her need to feel accepted, and He accepted her into His family. He saw her need to feel valuable, and He gave her pricelessness in Him. He saw her abandonment, and He gave her a relationship with Him. This book paints the beautiful story of a woman completely broken by life and the new life God gave her, turning her from being gloomy, depressed, heartbroken, and empty to being part of His royal family and allowed to sit at the King's table, even in the presence of her enemies. This book is certain to be one you will find amazing and awe-inspiring all the way to the very end. It will leave you feeling full of hope and realizing that you too are not betrayed by God. 2

Download or read book Hospitality and Treachery in Western Literature written by James A. W. Heffernan and published by Yale University Press. This book was released on 2014-05-27 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In works of Western literature ranging from Homer’s Odyssey to Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? the giving and taking of hospitality is sometimes pleasurable, but more often perilous. Heffernan traces this leitmotiv through the history of our greatest writings, including Christ’s Last Supper, Macbeth’s murder of his royal guest, and Camus’s short story on French colonialism in Arab Algeria. By means of such examples and many more, this book considers what literary hosts, hostesses, and guests do to as well as for each other. In doing so, it shows how often treachery rends the fabric of trust that hospitality weaves.
