Book Leading from Purpose

Download or read book Leading from Purpose written by Nick Craig and published by Hachette Books. This book was released on 2018-06-05 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on ten years of experience working with more than 10,000 executives from companies around the globe, Nick Craig takes you on a revelatory journey to understand your purpose, find clarity and focus, and lead with inspiration. When uncovered, purpose becomes our most fundamental guiding principle. Explaining where true purpose lies and demystifying where it doesn't, Craig offers the methods through which anyone can find their purpose. He identifies three pathways that will assess where you are with your purpose and where you should be going. Illustrated by case studies of leaders from all walks of life and industries, Craig shares their unique stories to show how top leaders are energized by their purpose, finding in it the confidence they need to properly evaluate high-stakes decisions and take the optimal action. The best leaders access their purpose especially when facing the unknown, drawing on the source of it to energize themselves. Purpose also redefines their relationships to stress, allowing them to thrive where others just survived, and to postpone momentary, fleeting rewards in favor of leaving a sustained, meaningful impact. Accessible, methodical, and eminently practical, Leading from Purpose offers the comprehensive toolbox with which everyone -- whether a c-suite executive of behind-the-scenes office worker -- can live out their purpose and achieve success on their own terms. If you find yourself in an organization that is struggling to live its purpose, Craig's insights on how to bring your purpose and the organization's purpose into the same room at the same time is game-changing and will redefine your life and career.

Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • “Next to impossible to put down . . . exciting, mysterious, and totally satisfying.”—STEPHEN KING From the author of The Passage comes a riveting standalone novel about a group of survivors on a hidden island utopia—where the truth isn’t what it seems. A POLYGON BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR The islands of Prospera lie in a vast ocean, in splendid isolation from the rest of humanity—or whatever remains of it. Citizens of the main island enjoy privileged lives. They are attended to by support staff who live on a cramped neighboring island, where whispers of revolt are brewing—but for the Prosperans, life is perfection. And when the end of life approaches, they’re sent to a mysterious third island, where their bodies are refreshed, their memories are wiped away, and they return to start life anew. Proctor Bennett is a ferryman, whose job it is to enforce the retirement process when necessary. He never questions his work, until the day he receives a cryptic message: “The world is not the world.” These simple words unlock something he has secretly suspected. They seep into strange dreams of the stars and the sea. They give him the unshakable feeling that someone is trying to tell him something important. Something no one could possibly imagine, something that could change the fate of humanity itself.

Now he was stranded in another time and entranced by Houston Malloy, the beauty who had taken him in. She had never experienced anything like the sexy stranger who had tumbled into her world. Common sense told Houston he must be lying about who he truly was, yet his eyes, his touch compelled her to believe in something so extraordinary, she could scarcely breathe. Though Quinn had found a peace all his quantum leaps had never granted him, a clock had begun to tick. If Quinn could not find a way back to his own time, he would have no tomorrows to share with Houston...for he would no longer exist.

Book excerpt: Quintus Aurelius has gone by many aliases over the passing centuries. Originating from ancient Rome now to over 2100 years later he's found home in a sleepy little beach town in New Zealand. It's 1986 and the world has changed a lot, being born totally deaf the road has been a hard one to live in with little communication with people over the passing centuries. Being totally estranged from his twin brother for the past millennium he has to cope with accidentally exposing himself as the vampire he is to a human, not just any human an employee that has been working for him for the last six years. With the immortals being a constant threat to vampires and their way of life, what happens when an immortal shows up who Quintus believed was dead from a time when he was still mortal. This book is written in New Zealand English and it is written more to the way New Zealanders speak, if you have never heard a kiwi speak the lingo in this book might not make sense to you. All of my books are written like this and I like to keep with my kiwi roots, in a sense it gives the characters each a character to them that they wouldn't have if they were American. I've based it at Kaiteriteri which is my most favourite beach in the world, it has a golden coarse sand that you don't see anywhere else with the clearest blue sea.

A large overhead mirror breaks loose, falls on Vandersagen and kills him. Kate Cassidy, the show host, is also hurt. The accident is quickly determined to be a murder, since the lashings holding the mirror were deliberately broken with remote-controlled explosive devices. Police also discover an open jar of poisoned chocolate sauce—meant for whom? A number of people are in the studio just before taping, some of whom have motive. All know their way about the JGV studios. Prime suspects are Adele Vandersagen, Jim's jealous wife, and the producer, Rudy Macklin. Also in the studio are Kate's father, Tom, a movie director and, coincidentally, his ex-wife, actress Maureen Cassidy. In the past, before marrying Tom, Maureen and Jim Vandersagen had a brief and steamy love affair. Tom and Maureen were divorced when Kate was twelve, but have remained doting parents to their only child. Kate, having been severely injured when the mirror fell, is concerned that she may have been the real target of the murderer. Later she has another brush with death. As Master Wizard and Prince of New Avon, he ruled scores of outlying herds and commanded North America's most powerful source of magic: Mornwing Upwelling. He was young and handsome and newly life-mated to Alcyon Skydance Galeryon of the Far Isles, the most beautiful Pegasian princess he had ever seen. As we humans say, Bruce had it made. Then, suddenly: Transfer orders! His ancestral dimension was slated to be downsized to dandle fluff by the Great Herdmaster and the Council of Greater Sentient Species. As if that weren't enough, his gorgeous little princess became a headstrong, power-hungry nag, and then Bruce blundered into the arms of a very powerful, very inept witch. The woman most foully Enchanted him, and her polluting touch forced Alcy, her annoying firedrake Maitland, and Bruce into exile in the mundane. Imagine! Pegasian Royalty in a stall! That's where the trio had to take refuge, though, thanks to Laura Hennessey LaCroix whose commands required Bruce to use every last ounce of magic and all his Powers—invisibility, mimicry, flight, telepathy, and Inspiration—to obey her or die. Thrown into the world of men, Bruce became an outlaw, lost his principality, and open a gifted man to dark and dangerous Powers. And, while Alcy and Bruce struggled just to stay alive, an evil, shape-changing monster declared war on them, their humans, and all of mankind!
