Book Isaac God S Final Mercy

Download or read book Isaac God S Final Mercy written by Wyatt Allen and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2017-12-20 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible warns us of things to comeand things that are even happening now. There will be wars and rumors of wars, earthquakes, storms, violence, bigotry, famine, and more horrors. Because God loves us, he will show mercy upon those who have goodness, love, and understanding in their hearts. But what about in a world without God? Isaac, Gods Final Mercy is a story of Gods mercy just after the rapture, when suddenly in a flash of light all true believers are taken to safety. But in this time, the world is consumed by all the remaining evil, and the Antichrist takes his reign over the earth. God sends a powerful supreme being, Isaac, back to the world during these last days, and his task is to find those who were left behind and see if they are worthy of Gods love and mercyand to destroy those who are not. Throughout the Bible and even since the beginning of time, God has always shown his mercy upon the world. Without God there would be no love or understanding, and the world would be filled with hatred, murder, mayhem, and suffering. This is not unlike our world today, but we can be hopeful because we know God is here for us, and in his mercy he will show us the way to eternity.

Book The Spiritual World Of Isaac The Syrian

Download or read book The Spiritual World Of Isaac The Syrian written by Hilarion Alfeyev and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2016-03-24 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the Foreword by Kallistos Ware, Bishop of Diokleia— Isaac the Syrian, also called Isaac of Nineveh, lived and wrote during "the golden age of Syriac Christian literature" in the seventh century. Cut off by language and politics from the Churches of the Roman Empire and branded "Nestorian," the Church of the East produced in isolation a rich theological literature which is only now becoming known to outsiders. Yet over the centuries and in all parts of Christendom, Isaac's works have been read and recommended as unquestionably orthodox. Now, at last, to my great delight, we have at our disposal a single book in English, offering us a balanced and comprehensive overview of Isaac's life, background and teaching. Wisely, Fr. Hilarion Alfeyev has allowed Isaac to speak for himself. The book is full of well-chosen quotations, in which Isaac's true voice can be heard. Saint Isaac of Syria was an ascetic, a mountain solitary, but his writings are universal in scope. They are addressed not just to the desert but to the city, not just to monastics but to all the baptized. With sharp vividness he speaks about themes relevant to every Christian: about repentance and humility, about prayer in its many forms, both outer and inner, about solitude and community, about silence, wonder, and ecstasy. Along with the emphasis that he places upon "luminous love"—to use his own phrase—two things above all mark his spiritual theology: his sense of God as living mystery; and his warm devotion to the Saviour Christ.

  • Author : J. Richard Middleton
  • Publisher : Baker Academic
  • Release : 2021-11-16
  • ISBN : 1493430882

Download or read book Abraham s Silence written by J. Richard Middleton and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is traditional to think we should praise Abraham for his willingness to sacrifice his son as proof of his love for God. But have we misread the point of the story? Is it possible that a careful reading of Genesis 22 could reveal that God was not pleased with Abraham's silent obedience? Widely respected biblical theologian, creative thinker, and public speaker J. Richard Middleton suggests we have misread and misapplied the story of the binding of Isaac and shows that God desires something other than silent obedience in difficult times. Middleton focuses on the ethical and theological problem of Abraham's silence and explores the rich biblical tradition of vigorous prayer, including the lament psalms, as a resource for faith. Middleton also examines the book of Job in terms of God validating Job's lament as "right speech," showing how the vocal Job provides an alternative to the silent Abraham. This book provides a fresh interpretation of Genesis 22 and reinforces the church's resurgent interest in lament as an appropriate response to God.

Book excerpt: When it comes to having a desire to see things change, it is obvious that most Christians are ready for it! The problem is that churches have tried every program available, and yet they still feel that there is something missing from their ministry. This book takes a fresh look at ministry and challenges us to consider that we may have actually left God out of the ministry equation, by not realizing how desperately we need for God's Spirit to set us on "fire!" Take a journey through the Bible and discover for yourself, how God's fire is present when God is on the move! Discover how God's fire reveals his character as well as our calling to be transformed into the image of Christ! You will also discover how being one of God's Fire Starters can be one of the most exciting adventures of anyone's life! Donald A. Broadwater was born in Roanoke, Virginia and spent most of his early life growing up around the Blue Ridge Mountains. He graduated from Covenant College and Westminster Theological Seminary, and for the past three decades, Don and his family have been on an adventure that has taken them from America to Australia. He is married to Gloria and has two grown children from their 37-year marriage. God has unfolded a unique ministry of discipleship that has sought to encourage people to take their next step on a Journey in Jesus. This ministry is needed because our journeys are as unique as God who is fashioning them for us. He has also spoken for church camps and seminars, which have included the international conference, "Fire on the Mountain," on Mt. Tambourine in Queensland, Australia.
