Download or read book The Use of Plane Parallel Ionization Chambers in High Energy Electron and Photon Beams written by International Atomic Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report both complements and extends Technical Reports Series No. 277/2, Absorbed Dose Determination in Photon and Electron Beams - An International Code of Practice, IAEA Technical Reports Series No. 277/2. It describes options and how to calibrate plane parallel ionization chambers, against air kerma or absorbed dose to water standards at cobalt-60 gamma ray energies. The use of these chambers to calibrate therapy electron beams, as well as relative dose measurements for photon and electron beams, is presented. This publication also updates some of the data and concepts used in Technical Reports Series No. 277/2. It fills gaps in the latter report with respect to plane parallel chambers with a view to improve accuracy in radiotherapy when these chambers are used.

Download or read book Principles of Radiation Interaction in Matter and Detection written by Claude Leroy and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2009 with total page 951 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, like its first edition, addresses the fundamental principles of interaction between radiation and matter and the principle of particle detectors in a wide scope of fields, from low to high energy, including space physics and the medical environment. It provides abundant information about the processes of electromagnetic and hadronic energy deposition in matter, detecting systems, and performance and optimization of detectors. In this second edition, new sections dedicated to the following topics are included: space and high-energy physics radiation environment, non-ionizing energy loss (NIEL), displacement damage in silicon devices and detectors, single event effects, detection of slow and fast neutrons with silicon detectors, solar cells, pixel detectors, and additional material for dark matter detectors. This book will benefit graduate students and final-year undergraduates as a reference and supplement for courses in particle, astroparticle, and space physics and instrumentation. A part of it is directed toward courses in medical physics. The book can also be used by researchers in experimental particle physics at low, medium, and high energy who are dealing with instrumentation.

Download or read book Radiation Dosimetry Instrumentation and Methods written by Gad Shani and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-28 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiation dosimetry has made great progress in the last decade, mainly because radiation therapy is much more widely used. Since the first edition, many new developments have been made in the basic methods for dosimetry, i.e. ionization chambers, TLD, chemical dosimeters, and photographic films. Radiation Dosimetry: Instrumentation and Methods, Second Edition brings to the reader these latest developments. Written at a high level for medical physicists, engineers, and advanced dosimetrists, it concentrates only on evolvement during the last decade, relying on the first edition to provide the basics.
Download or read book Determination of Total X ray Beam Energy with a Calibrated Ionization Chamber written by John S. Pruitt and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes the use of an air-filled aluminum-alloy ionization chamber to determine the energy transported by a bremsstrahlung beam with maximum photon energy in the range 6 to 170 Mev. The experimental calibrations of this chamber over this energy range are given, as well as the results of calibration experiments made with a 250-kv constant-potential X-ray tube and with Cs137 and Co60 gamma-rays. Information is presented about the change in calibration when the chamber is used with different experimental conditions, and when either its dimensions or its alloy composition are changed slightly. This report can be used to construct a replica chamber and to determine its absolute calibration between 6 and 170 Mev under a variety of experimental conditions.
