Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is comprised of invocations or supplications (du’aa) that are inspired by various sets of selected stimulating verses from the Qur’an, which, in themselves, are particularly worthy of pondering and reflecting upon. The fundamental concept here is that, while reading the Qur’an, if one recites a verse that elicits a certain thought or emotion, then one should make a corresponding invocation in its reflection. Moreover, the invocations composed in this book are not just based on directly supplicating verses from the Qur’an, but also on various inspirational collection of verses from this Glorious Book that move one’s heart and prompt a heartfelt supplication in response. The reader is encouraged to revisit and ponder and reflect on these verses.

Download or read book Invocations Supplications written by Ghazzālī and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although prayerfulness and the remembrance of God suffuse all the formal practices of Islam, there are times when the Muslim simply 'sits alone with his Lord' to repeat formulas drawn from the Qur'an and the sayings of the Prophet, seeking remission of his sins and the purification of his heart. The present volume is probably the most widely read compendium of such material, popular not only for its comprehensiveness and beauty, but also for the analytical approach of its author, who explores the psychological and spiritual effects of prayer and the celebration of God's name. The original translation by Kojiro Nakamura, now Head of the Islamic Studies Department at the University of Tokyo, has been substantially revised and augmented with 'hadith' identification.

Download or read book The Qur an and the Aramaic Gospel Traditions written by Emran El-Badawi and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-12-17 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a study of related passages found in the Arabic Qur’ān and the Aramaic Gospels, i.e. the Gospels preserved in the Syriac and Christian Palestinian Aramaic dialects. It builds upon the work of traditional Muslim scholars, including al-Biqā‘ī (d. ca. 808/1460) and al-Suyūṭī (d. 911/1505), who wrote books examining connections between the Qur’ān on the one hand, and Biblical passages and Aramaic terminology on the other, as well as modern western scholars, including Sidney Griffith who argue that pre-Islamic Arabs accessed the Bible in Aramaic. The Qur’ān and the Aramaic Gospel Traditions examines the history of religious movements in the Middle East from 180-632 CE, explaining Islam as a response to the disunity of the Aramaic speaking churches. It then compares the Arabic text of the Qur’ān and the Aramaic text of the Gospels under four main themes: the prophets; the clergy; the divine; and the apocalypse. Among the findings of this book are that the articulator as well as audience of the Qur’ān were monotheistic in origin, probably bilingual, culturally sophisticated and accustomed to the theological debates that raged between the Aramaic speaking churches. Arguing that the Qur’ān’s teachings and ethics echo Jewish-Christian conservatism, this book will be of interest to students and scholars of Religion, History, and Literature.

Download or read book The Miraculous Language of the Qur an Evidence of Divine Origin written by Bassam Saeh and published by International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT). This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study illustrates why the language of the Qur'an is miraculous, unique, and evidence of divine authority. The author compares the language of the Qur'an with the language of pre-Islamic poetry, the Prophet's words (hadith), and the language of the Arabs both past and present, to demonstrate that although the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic it was at the same time an Arabic which was entirely new. Original and early Muslim audiences viewed this as miraculous and responded to the Qur'an's words, sounds, rhythms, etc. in a manner consistent with a deeper appreciation of its beauty and majesty which modern ears, trained by familiarity, and despite being surrounded by all manner of dictionaries and studies, are at a loss to capture. The author attempts to remove this veil and present the Qur'an to readers as if hearing it for the first time, to bring to life some of this wonder. In doing so he guides readers to appreciate the beauty of the Qur'an, to become more immersed in it, and to have a clearer understanding of its structure and flow. Devoting special attention to Surah Al Muddaththir, to underpin his analysis, Saeh thus brings the Revelation to life, to demonstrate that each surah has distinct features and characteristics that make it stand out uniquely within the design and sweep of the whole.

Download or read book The Prayer of the Oppressed written by Hamza Yusuf and published by eBooks2go, Inc.. This book was released on 2014-01-10 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Power of this prayer of Imam Muhammad al-Dar’i lies in its simplicity, its purity, and its sincere supplication. It is essentially a plea to God that our transgressions be overlooked, that divine mercy be bestowed upon us, that social justice be restored in spite of us, that wrongs be righted, and that righteousness reign once again in our lands, so that the destitute may no longer be in need, the young may be educated, the animals’ purpose fulfilled, rain restored, and bounties poured forth. It is a plea to be freed from the aggression of foreigners in lands over which they have no right—a plea much needed in our modern world, rampant as it is with invasions and territorial occupations. Ultimately, it asks not that our enemies be destroyed, but simply that their plots, and the harm they cause, be halted. Its essence is mercy, which in turn is the essence of the Messenger of God, Muhammad (peace and blessing of God be upon him): “And We have only sent you as a mercy to all the worlds.”

Download or read book Psychological Foundation of the Qur an Ii written by Muhammad Shoaib Shahid and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-02-05 with total page 263 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My goal is to introduce logical and scientific results and analysis of the observation of the deteriorated state of the Muslim Ummah, which has been dependant over semi-educated, non-Arabic speaking Imams/Mullahs presenting Islam with personal agendas and misinterpretation of the Qur'an due to a foreign language or lack of insight to find solutions to all human issues presented by the Creator for His beloved creature. My sole reference in all the presentation is only the Qur'an to unite the Muslims who have split into various sectarian, political and social divisions through issues like terrorism, Bidaha, misconceptions over human and women's rights, and power struggles, under one umbrella of the Ummah based on One God, one Last Prophet (Muhammad PBUH) with one Holy Book (the Qur'an) for guidance in individual affairs and social justification. Outdated preaching practices (with projection of fear of punishment), mishandling of adolescent anxieties and concerns, intolerant attitudes, and indulging in rituals instead of religious obligations have confused the laypersons and those ignorant of Islam about the original Islmaic intention presented in the Qur'an. I have presented the data for all English-speaking populations settled globally, with logic and observation on scientific tools, at the layperson's mental level to answer the misunderstandings or objection about Islam and the Qur'an. This present publication is a solution to meet this noble mission of Allah for preaching His message to the derailed population, particularly among the Muslims.
