Download or read book Molecular Rays written by Ronald G. J. Fraser and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2015-12-03 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1931, this book is concerned with the task of furthering the development of the physical method of molecular rays and was intended for the general reader. Written from an experimental standpoint, the book is a user-friendly survey, which could only be otherwise obtained by extensive reading of original papers. Chapters are broad in scope and range from 'The Diffraction of molecular rays' to 'Chemical equilibria, ionisation and spectroscopic applications'. Notably, chapter one, which deals with the technique of the production and measurement of the rays, has been written in more detail and serves as a laboratory manual for beginners in experimental work in molecular rays. Diagrams and plate sections are included for reference. This book includes almost every problem of surface chemistry and will be of great value to scholars in the field as well as to anyone with an interest in the history of physical chemistry.
Download or read book Chemistry for Sustainable Development written by Minu Gupta Bhowon and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-02-23 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemistry for Sustainable Development is a collection of selected papers by the participants of the International Conference on Pure and Applied Chemistry (ICPAC 2010) on the theme of “Chemistry for Sustainable Development” held in Mauritius in July 2010. In light of the significant progresses and challenges in the development and implementation of green and sustainable chemistry, this volume reviews the recent results generated by a more efficient use of resources to minimize carbon footprints, to foster the eradication or minimisation of solvent use in chemistry, and to deliver processes which lead to increased harmony between chemistry and the environment. Chemistry for Sustainable Development is written for graduates, postgraduates, researchers in industry and academia who have an interest in the fields ranging from fundamental to applied chemistry.

Download or read book Modern Techniques of Spectroscopy written by Dheeraj Kumar Singh and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-04-01 with total page 663 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book highlights recent developments in the field of spectroscopy by providing the readers with an updated and high-level of overview. The focus of this book is on the introduction to concepts of modern spectroscopic techniques, recent technological innovations in this field, and current examples of applications to molecules and materials relevant for academia and industry. The book will be beneficial to researchers from various branches of science and technology, and is intended to point them to modern techniques, which might be useful for their specific problems. Spectroscopic techniques, that are discussed include, UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, SERS, TERS, CARS, IR absorption spectroscopy, SFG, LIBS, Quantum cascade laser (QCL) spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, ellipsometry, cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy, such as cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) and evanescent wave-CRDS both in gas and condensed phases, time-resolved spectroscopy etc. Applications introduced in the different chapters demonstrates the usefulness of the spectroscopic techniques for the characterization of fundamental properties of molecules, e.g. in connection with environmental impact, bio-activity, or usefulness for pharmaceutical drugs, and materials important e.g. for nano-science, nuclear chemistry, or bio-applications. The book presents how spectroscopic techniques can help to better understand substances, which have also great impact on questions of social and economic relevance (environment, alternative energy, etc.).
Download or read book Rydberg States of Atoms and Molecules written by R. F. Stebbings and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1983-04-29 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After the development of the tunable laser, experimental studies in Rydberg states of atoms and molecules grew at a remarkable rate. Fundamental questions were resolved, opening doors for more experimental activity and theoretical inquiry. In this comprehensive summary of knowledge of Rydberg states, which was originally published in 1983, Professors Stebbings and Dunning brought together a select collection of experimental and theoretical discussions. Composed of works by the acknowledged leaders in the field, this volume will be of value for anyone with an interest in molecular physics.
Download or read book Modeling Marvels written by Errol G. Lewars and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-05 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this highly original book is to survey a number of chemical compounds that some chemists, theoretical and experimental, find fascinating. This is the first book to feature compounds/classes of compounds of theoretical interest that have been studied theoretically but have defied synthesis. It is hoped that this collection of idiosyncratic molecules will appeal to chemists who find the study of chemical oddities interesting and, on occasion, even rewarding.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soot Formation in Combustion represents an up-to-date overview. The contributions trace back to the 1991 Heidelberg symposium entitled "Mechanism and Models of Soot Formation" and have all been reedited by Prof. Bockhorn in close contact with the original authors. The book gives an easy introduction to the field for newcomers, and provides detailed treatments for the specialists. The following list of contents illustrates the topics under review:
Download or read book Crystal Growth written by A.W. Vere and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1988-05-31 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the second in a series of scientific textbooks designed to cover advances in selected research fields from a basic and general viewpoint, so that only limited knowledge is required to understand the significance of recent developments. Further assistance for the non-specialist is provided by the summary of abstracts in Part 2, which includes many of the major papers published in the research field. Crystal Growth of Semiconductor Materials has been the subject of numerous books and reviews and the fundamental principles are now well-established. We are concerned chiefly with the deposition of atoms onto a suitable surface - crystal growth - and the generation of faults in the atomic structure during growth and subsequent cooling to room temperature - crystal defect structure. In this book I have attempted to show that whilst the fundamentals of these processes are relatively simple, the complexities of the interactions involved and the individuality of different materials systems and growth processes have ensured that experimentally verifiable predictions from scientific principles have met with only limited success - good crystal growth remains an art. However, recent advances, which include the reduction of growth temperatures, the reduction or elimination of reactant transport variables and the use of better-controlled energy sources to promote specific reactions, are leading to simplified growth systems.
