Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: VI spectrum of potential applications is outlined by T. W. HANSCH, who also touches briefly on the exciting field of laser spectroscopy, a most important application to which a forthcoming volume is devoted. The treatment, being tutorial in nature, is suitable both for graduate students and for scientists working in the dye-laser field or applying a dye laser in another research discipline. The book will also prove to be an indispensable and handy source of information for the specialist. The literature is reviewed up to spring 1973, and the list of additional references (which cites the titles of articles) extends to summer 1973. This is proof of an amazingly short publication period for a 300-page book. Heidelberg, October 1973 HELMUT K. V. LOTSCH Contents 1. Principles of Dye Laser Operation. By FRITZ P. Book Comprehensive Study of Diode Pumped Dye Lasers Phase 1

Download or read book Comprehensive Study of Diode Pumped Dye Lasers Phase 1 written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report covers progress since the second periodic report of May 31, 1991 through completion. Previously in this program, two laser dyes were selected as candidates for diode pumping. These were a visible dye, LD-800, and a near infrared (NIR) dye, IR-26. Under a subcontract to Physical Sciences, Inc. (PSI), these two dyes were characterized to provide critical parameters necessary for laser design/optimization. Having completed these characterization experiments, we have achieved Technical Objective 3 of the proposed program, having analyzed and optimized the design of the two dye lasers. These analyses are presented in detail in this report. To summarize our results, it appears quite feasible to produce both CW and pulsed diode-pumped dye lasers using currently available components and technology. Download or read book Dye Lasers 25 Years written by Michael Stuke and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-08-05 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Dye Lasers: 25 years, the pioneers and leading experts in the field of dye lasers present the current status and bright future perspectives of dye lasers and their applications in physics and chemistry. Particular topics covered include: new sources of ultrashort pulses, novel aspects of resonator design and imaging for femtosecond lasers, amplification schemes to terawatt intensity regimes, optics and high-resolution spectroscopy of atoms and molecules, and electro-optic and plasma physics applications of ultrashort and ultra-intense laser pulses. Since its invention in 1966, the dye laser has revolutionized many fields of science and technology. Questions of fundamental interest in physics and chemistry can now be answered: it is possible to test fundamental quantum physics in single-atom experiments and regioselective photochemistry in complexes can be monitored directlyusing dye-laser diagnostic methods. In this book the latest results (and most recent references) are presented for new sources of ultrashort pulses from the visible to the VUV, together with experimental details of ultrahigh-resolution spectroscopy of atoms and molecules, laser diagnostics of the dynamics of elementary chemical reactions, and ultrahigh intensity sources for laser target interaction.

Book An Investigation for Improving Life of a High Power Short Pulse Dye Laser Pump Lamp

Download or read book An Investigation for Improving Life of a High Power Short Pulse Dye Laser Pump Lamp written by Robert A. Eckel and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of the program was to improve the useful life of a linear pulsed light source for pumping dye lasers. The lamp arc length was 2 inches. The operating conditions were as follows: pulse length 2 microsec pulse energy 4 J, pulse repetition rate 220 pps, desired useful life 8,000,000 pulses. Performance data for a 'standard' lamp was established. The cathode and the method of operating the lamp appear to be the most important factors in extending lamp life. It was also found that a higher lamp fill pressure and a smaller diameter lamp bore improved the lamp output.

Book Flashlamp Pumped Organic Dye Lasers

Download or read book Flashlamp Pumped Organic Dye Lasers written by Bernard G. Huth and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes an experimental program directed at investigating the potential of visible, organic dye lasers. The dye Rhodamine 6G was chosen for the most intense study, and solutions to a mathematical model of a dye laser were compared to the experimental results obtained with a laboratory device. This analysis combined with triplet lifetime measurements on anthracene show that dissolved oxygen in air-equilibrated solutions probably limits the triplet lifetime to approximately 0.0000001 seconds. Several lasers with linear flashlamps were investigated which operated in both single-shot and repetitive modes. Single-shot efficiencies as high as 0.35% were observed, and reliable operation at repetition rates up to 50 Hz was achieved. Two coaxial lamps were also tested with rhodamine 6G. The smaller of these lamps gave an efficiency of 0.48% and the larger yielded output energies in excess of 6 Joules. Cavity dumping experiments resulted in single pulses 5 nsec in duration, and we have observed laser emission at 8575 A from the dye 1,3,3,1',3',3'-hexamethyl-2,2'-indotricarbocyanine iodide. (Author).
