Mechanical test such as tensile test and impact test can helps researches to find and study on impact load, and other mechanical properties. So, complete information and proper method on handling the test is important in hoping to get the results.

Book Experimental Investigation of Anisotropy of Fiberglass reinforced Plastics

Download or read book Experimental Investigation of Anisotropy of Fiberglass reinforced Plastics written by Ya S. Sidorin and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results of experimental investigation of properties of a cold-cured fiberglass-reinforced laminate (21 layers per cm) consisting of an ASTT(b)-S sub 2 satin-woven fiberglass cloth and a PN-1 unsaturated polyester resin (50 to 50 ratio by weight) are presented. A regularity pattern in variation of mechanical properties of the laminate was studied in relation to the angle phi between the warp direction and longitudinal axis of the specimen. Tubular (30 mm i.d., 3 mm wall thickness) and flat 20 x 3 mm specimens were tested at phi equals 0 to 90 degrees in 15 degree intervals. The elasticity modulus, Poisson's ratio, ultimate strength, and elongation were measured and compared with theoretical values obtained by applying the relations of the elasticity theory of an orthotropic solid with three planes of elastic symmetry. The results obtained are plotted in diagrams and show that the flat specimens have lower values of all characteristics and give an incorrect idea on performance of structural components made of fiberglass-reinforced plastics within the whole construction. The use of tubular specimens instead of the flat ones is recommended in investigating the mechanical properties of fiberglass-reinforced plastics. (Author).

Book Investigation of the Effect of Temperature on the Mechanical Properties of High strength Glass reinforced Plastics

Download or read book Investigation of the Effect of Temperature on the Mechanical Properties of High strength Glass reinforced Plastics written by V. S. Gumenyuk and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 10 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results from a study of the mechanical properties of certain reinforced plastics are presented. The study was confined to oriented glass plastics and glass plastics in conditions of elevated temperatures (293--573K). Graphs are presented showing: (1) the variation of the relative tensile strength of the glass plastics as a function of temperature; (2) the variation of the tensile modulus of elasticity with temperature; (3) the variation of the relative compressive strength with temperature; and (4) the variation of the relative impact strength with temperature. It was found that the strength characteristics in compression and the impact strength are more temperature dependent than the tensile characteristics. Compression strength becomes stable at about 373K, and tensile strength becomes stable at around 423K.

Book Engineering Materials 2

Download or read book Engineering Materials 2 written by Michael F. Ashby and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides a thorough explanation of the basic properties of materials; of how these can be controlled by processing; of how materials are formed, joined and finished; and of the chain of reasoning that leads to a successful choice of material for a particular application. Book Effect of Different Build Orientation on Mechanical Properties of Fiberglass Reinforced Composite

Download or read book Effect of Different Build Orientation on Mechanical Properties of Fiberglass Reinforced Composite written by Muhamad Khairul Izzat Muhammad Atan and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis deals with effect of different build orientation on mechanical properties of fibreglass reinforced composite. The objective of this thesis is to investigate the mechanical properties of fibreglass reinforced composite with different build orientation, investigate the relation between fibreglass and polyester resin, and to understand on the mechanical behaviour of fibreglass reinforced composite. Fibreglass is refer to a group of products made from individual glass fibres combined into a variety of forms and act as reinforcing agent. The problem of bonding between fibreglass and the matrix resin affect the strength of the fibreglass reinforced composite and this need to be deals with the study on their mechanical properties by using mechanical experiment test. The test is carried out using tensile test, which all are focusing on investigating mechanical properties on the specimens. Fibreglass reinforced composite is made up by using hand lay-up technique, where different laminate of fibreglass made up by different build orientation of fibreglass which result different strength. The aim ofthe test is to study on this fibreglass reinforced composite strength and to observed on the mechanical behaviour of this material. It was found that by arranging the fibreglass properly, the stronger the fibreglass reinforced composite be.
