The growing application of the (full or modified) accrual basis of accounting in the public and non-profit sectors has extended and reanimated this issue. This book applies the comparative method, in order to provide new information on the analyzed subject. Specifically, after having investigated the different theoretical and technical proposals, it compares the reporting behavior of significant cases of Italian and American public and private organizations, coming from different cultural and management approaches. Proposing a link between the managerial and reporting issues of the organizations involved in the management and maintenance of heritage assets, this book is crucial in the task to optimize the performance of organizations in this sector.

AR is an alternative path of analysis and communication if applied to several fields of research, in particular if related to space and artifacts in it. This happens because the neural network development strengthens the relationship between augmented reality and artificial intelligence, creating processes close to human thought in shorter times. In the last years, the AR/AI expansion and the future scenarios have raised a deep trans-disciplinary speculation. The disciplines of representation (drawing, surveying, visual communication), as a convergence place of multidisciplinary theoretical and applicative studies related to architecture, city, environment, tangible and intangible cultural heritage, are called to contribute to the international debate. The book chapters deal with augmented reality and artificial intelligence, analyzing their connections as research tools for knowing the environment. In particular, the topics focus on the intersection between real and virtual world and on the heuristic role of drawing in the enhancement and management of cultural heritage, in planning and monitoring the architecture, the environment, or the infrastructures. Scientists involved in AR and AI research applied separately or together in the field of cultural heritage, architectural design, urban planning, and infrastructures analysis, as well as members of public and private organizations make up interdisciplinary groups that fuel the discussion focusing on the priorities and aims of the research related to the disciplines of representation.

Book excerpt: Scopo di questo lavorò sarà quindi verificare l’ammissibilità dell’applicazione dell’istituto del trust, oggi utilizzato soprattutto nel diritto societario e nel diritto di famiglia, anche all’ambito culturale, con un occhio rivolto alla legislazione dei beni culturali. Innanzitutto si analizzeranno i suoi aspetti primari, studiandone gli effetti, la natura giuridica e il ruolo dei soggetti coinvolti, con particolare riferimento ai beneficiari, in quanto permettono di distinguere l’applicazione del trust all’ambito culturale rispetto agli altri ambiti più comuni. In un secondo momento si focalizzerà l’attenzione sull’oggetto del trust e sulle caratteristiche che questo può assumere se applicato all’ambito culturale. Pur riconoscendo che in questo settore il trust non può avere una rilevanza importante a livello sociale quanto quella che può avere una fondazione di partecipazione, si ritiene comunque che questo istituto offra alcuni vantaggi, come ad esempio il fatto di poter vincolare il proprio patrimonio culturale ad un determinato scopo, proteggendolo contestualmente da un’eventuale dispersione e favorendo allo stesso tempo i beneficiari, ai quali viene offerta la possibilità di disporre, seppur indirettamente, dei beni vincolati e di avvantaggiarsene. Infine nell’ultima parte del lavoro, verrà svolto un confronto tra il trust e gli istituti tipicamente impiegati nell’ambito no profit, con particolare attenzione alle fondazioni di partecipazione, allo scopo di valutarne somiglianze e differenze. Come precisa il ministro Dario Franceschini nella sua prefazione, è necessario «superare contrapposizioni dogmatiche che sono figlie di una visione ideologica e poco hanno a che vedere con la complessità della realtà: conservazione contro valorizzazione, cultura contro turismo, pubblico contro privato». Giuliano Volpe, con questo "manifesto", offre idee e proposte innovative a tutto campo: dall'affermazione di una concezione olistica del patrimonio culturale e del paesaggio alla formazione dei giovani professionisti, dalla comunicazione alla gestione. L'Autore propone pertanto una "alleanza degli innovatori", dovunque essi siano, prescindendo dalle appartenenze e dalle afferenze. C'è certamente bisogno urgente di risorse adeguate e dell'immissione di nuovo personale qualificato. Serve soprattutto una grande volontà di cambiamento: l'Italia non può più continuare a cullarsi sugli allori del passato, confondendo conservazione con conservatorismo. Deve, al contrario, saper innovare una gloriosa tradizione e affrontare le sfide del nuovo millennio. Solo così potrà affermare un suo nuovo ruolo nel contesto europeo e mondiale. Un obiettivo irraggiungibile senza un patto tra patrimonio culturale e cittadini.
