Book Introduction to Microprocessor Based Systems Design

Download or read book Introduction to Microprocessor Based Systems Design written by Giuliano Donzellini and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-12-09 with total page 632 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is intended for a first course on microprocessor-based systems design for engineering and computer science students. It starts with an introduction of the fundamental concepts, followed by a practical path that guides readers to developing a basic microprocessor example, using a step-by-step problem-solving approach. Then, a second microprocessor is presented, and readers are guided to the implementation and programming of microcomputer systems based on it. The numerous worked examples and solved exercises allow a better understanding and a more effective learning. All the examples and exercises were developed on Deeds (Digital Electronics Education and Design Suite), which is freely available online on a website developed and maintained by the authors. The discussed examples can be simulated by using Deeds and the solutions to all exercises and examples can be found on that website. Further, in the last part of this book, different microprocessor-based systems, which have been specifically thought for educational purposes, are extensively developed, simulated and implemented on FPGA-based platforms. This textbook draws on the authors’ extensive experience in teaching and developing learning materials for bachelor’s and master’s engineering courses. It can be used for self-study as well, and even independently from the simulator. Thanks to the learning-by-doing approach and the plentiful examples, no prior knowledge in computer programming is required.

Book Fast and Effective Embedded Systems Design

Download or read book Fast and Effective Embedded Systems Design written by Tim Wilmshurst and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-07-03 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fast and Effective Embedded Systems Design is a fast-moving introduction to embedded system design, applying the innovative ARM mbed and its web-based development environment. Each chapter introduces a major topic in embedded systems, and proceeds as a series of practical experiments, adopting a "learning through doing" strategy. Minimal background knowledge is needed. C/C++ programming is applied, with a step-by-step approach which allows the novice to get coding quickly. Once the basics are covered, the book progresses to some "hot" embedded issues – intelligent instrumentation, networked systems, closed loop control, and digital signal processing. Written by two experts in the field, this book reflects on the experimental results, develops and matches theory to practice, evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the technology or technique introduced, and considers applications and the wider context. Numerous exercises and end of chapter questions are included. - A hands-on introduction to the field of embedded systems, with a focus on fast prototyping - Key embedded system concepts covered through simple and effective experimentation - Amazing breadth of coverage, from simple digital i/o, to advanced networking and control - Applies the most accessible tools available in the embedded world - Supported by mbed and book web sites, containing FAQs and all code examples - Deep insights into ARM technology, and aspects of microcontroller architecture - Instructor support available, including power point slides, and solutions to questions and exercises

Book Microcomputers for Process Control

Download or read book Microcomputers for Process Control written by R. C. Holland and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microcomputers for Process Control provides an introduction to microprocessor technology for process monitoring and control. The book begins with an overview of microprocessor applications in areas such as consumer products, factories, and telecommunications. This is followed by separate chapters that discuss microcomputer technology; electrical interface to enable plant monitoring and control by microcomputer; microcomputer system hardware and software; VDU-based plant monitoring systems; and methods of computer control. This book is aimed at practicing engineers in industry who wish to acquire a base of understanding of this technology and also to learn how microcomputers can actually be applied in real plant situations. Considerable emphasis is given to plant measurements, interfacing techniques and applications of microcomputers for plant monitoring and control. No prior knowledge of microprocessor technology is assumed, but some awareness of plant measurement and control problems will assist the reader. Students undertaking engineering courses which include microelectronics or process control studies should also find the text helpful.

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The introduction of the microprocessor in computer and system engineering has motivated the development of many new concepts and has simplified the design of many modern industrial systems. During the first decade of their life. microprocessors have shown a tremendous evolution in all possible directions (technology. power. functionality. I/O handling. etc). Of course putting the microprocessors and their environmental devices into properly operating systems is a complex and difficult task requiring high skills for melding and integrating hardware. and systemic components. software This book was motivated by the editors' feeling that a cohesive reference is needed providing a good coverage of modern industrial applications of microprocessor-based real time control, together with latest advanced methodological issues. Unavoidably a single volume cannot be exhaustive. but the present book contains a sufficient number of important real-time applications. The book is divided in two sections. Section I deals with general hardware. software and systemic topics. and involves six chapters. Chapter 1. by Gupta and Toong. presents an overview of the development of microprocessors during their first twelve years of existence. Chapter 2. by Dasgupta. deals with a number of system software concepts for real time microprocessor-based systems (task scheduling. memory management. input-output aspects. programming language reqUirements.
