Book Human Technology Interaction

Download or read book Human Technology Interaction written by Carsten Röcker and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-12-13 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digitalization and automation are leading to fundamental changes in the industrial landscape. In the German-speaking countries, this development is often summarized under the term Industry 4.0. Simultaneously, interaction technologies have made huge developments in the last decades. The use of mobile devices and touch screens is ubiquitous, augmented and virtual reality technologies have made their way into the market and new interaction concepts have become established. While new interaction technologies offer new possibilities for organizing or executing work in the context of Industry 4.0, the transformation of industrial processes also creates a need for new work practices. This book sheds light on the interplay of Industry 4.0 and new interaction technologies. It presents selected research articles on the topic of Human-Technology Interaction in the context of Industry 4.0. Researchers from various disciplines present the current state of research with regard to future interactions with production environments to develop a common vision of how to design future interactions in the industrial domain. In this context, various topics are covered: a detailed overview on assistive systems for supporting manual work is given, including technological and design aspects as well as implementation strategies. Industrial use-cases for extended reality (XR) technologies such as augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) are presented, also covering aspects of how to author content in XR environments. The role of new work practices is examined, for example, by presenting concepts of gamification and human-machine teamwork for supporting well-being. Finally, topics of trust and technology acceptance are discussed in the context of Industry 4.0. Given this broad perspective, a vision is sketched of how to design future human-technology interactions in a way that realizes their full technical and human potential.

Book Strategic Uses of Social Technology

Download or read book Strategic Uses of Social Technology written by Zachary Birchmeier and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2011-09-22 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On an everyday basis, we communicate with one another using various technological media, such as text messaging, social networking tools, and electronic mail, in work, educational, and personal settings. As a consequence of the increasing frequency of use and importance of computer-supported interaction, social scientists in particular have heeded the call to understand the social processes involved in such interactions. In this volume, the editors explore how aspects of a situation interact with characteristics of a person to help explain our technologically supported social interactions. The person-by-situation interaction perspective recognizes the powerful role of the situation and social forces on behavior, thought, and emotion, but also acknowledges the importance of person variables in explaining social interaction, including power and gender, social influence, truth and deception, ostracism, and leadership. This important study is of great relevance to modern readers, who are more and more frequently using technology to communicate with one another.

Book The Oxford Handbook of the Physiology of Interpersonal Communication

Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of the Physiology of Interpersonal Communication written by Lindsey Aloia and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2020-08-06 with total page 373 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communication scholars have long recognized the importance of understanding associations between our bodies and communication messages and processes. In the past decade, there has been an increased focus on the role of physiology in interpersonal interactions, resulting in a surge of research exploring topics related to communication in close relationships. This growing line of research explores topics such as affectionate communication, forgiveness, communication apprehension, and social support. Contributing to the increase in physiological research on communication processes is a greater recognition of the bi-directional nature of the associations between communication and the body. Researchers study both the physiological outcomes of communication episodes (e.g., stress responses to conflict conversations), as well as the effects of physiology on communication process (e.g., the influence of hormones on post-sex communication). The Oxford Handbook of the Physiology of Interpersonal Communication offers a comprehensive review of the most prolific areas of research investigating both the physiological outcomes of interpersonal communication and the effects of physiology on interpersonal interactions. This volume brings together thirty-three leading scholars in the field and draws on research from communication studies, physiology, psychology, and neuroscience. Based on quantitative research methods, the Handbook serves as a resource for both researchers and students interested in investigating the mutual influence of physiology and communication in close relationships.
