Book excerpt: To cope with industrial interests and technology trends, DELTA 2004 deals with the design and test of electronic products, ranging from integrated circuits through PLDs and printed-circuit boards to full systems, as well as examining the methods and tools (design automation) used in the design of such new developments. To highlight the increasing interest in MicroPhotonics, DELTA includes three special sessions where Photonics and VLSI are coming together in this new promising field.

Book Augmented Reality

    Book Details:
  • Author : Soha Maad
  • Publisher : BoD – Books on Demand
  • Release : 2010-01-01
  • ISBN : 9537619699
  • Pages : 243 pages

Download or read book Augmented Reality written by Soha Maad and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2010-01-01 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) tools and techniques supply virtual environments that have key characteristics in common with our physical environment. Viewing and interacting with 3D objects is closer to reality than abstract mathematical and 2D approaches. Augmented Reality (AR) technology, a more expansive form of VR is emerging as a cutting-edge technology that integrates images of virtual objects into a real world. In that respect Virtual and Augmented reality can potentially serve two objectives: reflecting realism through a closer correspondence with real experience, and extending the power of computer-based technology to better reflect abstract experience. With the growing amount of digital data that can be stored and accessed there is a rising need to harness this data and transform it into an engine capable of developing our view and perception of the world and of boosting the economic activity across domain verticals. Graphs, pie charts and spreadsheet are not anymore the unique medium to convey the world. Advanced interactive patterns of visualization and representations are emerging as a viable alternative with the latest advances in emerging technologies such as AR and VR. And the potential and rewards are tremendous. This book discusses the opportunities and challenges facing the development of this technology.

Book Economics of Electronic Design Manufacture and Test

Download or read book Economics of Electronic Design Manufacture and Test written by M. Abadir and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general understanding of design is that it should lead to a manufacturable product. Neither the design nor the process of manufacturing is perfect. As a result, the product will be faulty, will require testing and fixing. Where does economics enter this scenario? Consider the cost of testing and fixing the product. If a manufactured product is grossly faulty, or too many of the products are faulty, the cost of testing and fixing will be high. Suppose we do not like that. We then ask what is the cause of the faulty product. There must be something wrong in the manufacturing process. We trace this cause and fix it. Suppose we fix all possible causes and have no defective products. We would have eliminated the need for testing. Unfortunately, things are not so perfect. There is a cost involved with finding and eliminating the causes of faults. We thus have two costs: the cost of testing and fixing (we will call it cost-1), and the cost of finding and eliminating causes of faults (call it cost-2). Both costs, in some way, are included in the overall cost of the product. If we try to eliminate cost-1, cost-2 goes up, and vice versa. An economic system of production will minimize the overall cost of the product. Economics of Electronic Design, Manufacture and Test is a collection of research contributions derived from the Second Workshop on Economics of Design, Manufacture and Test, written for inclusion in this book.

Book System Level Design with Net Technology

Download or read book System Level Design with Net Technology written by El Mostapha Aboulhamid and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first book to harness the power of .NET for system design, System Level Design with .NET Technology constitutes a software-based approach to design modeling verification and simulation. World class developers, who have been at the forefront of system design for decades, explain how to tap into the power of this dynamic programming environment for more effective and efficient management of metadata—and introspection and interoperability between tools. Using readily available technology, the text details how to capture constraints and requirements at high levels and describes how to percolate them during the refinement process. Departing from proprietary environments built around System Verilog and VHDL, this cutting-edge reference includes an open source environment (ESys.NET) that readers can use to experiment with new ideas, algorithms, and design methods; and to expand the capabilities of their current tools. It also covers: Modeling and simulation—including requirements specification, IP reuse, and applications of design patterns to hardware/software systems Simulation and validation—including transaction-based models, accurate simulation at cycle and transaction levels, cosimulation and acceleration technique, as well as timing specification and validation Practical use of the ESys.NET environment Worked examples, end of chapter references, and the ESys.NET implementation test bed make this the ideal resource for system engineers and students looking to maximize their embedded system designs.

Book Multicore Technology

    Book Details:
  • Author : Muhammad Yasir Qadri
  • Publisher : CRC Press
  • Release : 2018-10-08
  • ISBN : 1351832735
  • Pages : 446 pages

Download or read book Multicore Technology written by Muhammad Yasir Qadri and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-08 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The saturation of design complexity and clock frequencies for single-core processors has resulted in the emergence of multicore architectures as an alternative design paradigm. Nowadays, multicore/multithreaded computing systems are not only a de-facto standard for high-end applications, they are also gaining popularity in the field of embedded computing. The start of the multicore era has altered the concepts relating to almost all of the areas of computer architecture design, including core design, memory management, thread scheduling, application support, inter-processor communication, debugging, and power management. This book gives readers a holistic overview of the field and guides them to further avenues of research by covering the state of the art in this area. It includes contributions from industry as well as academia.
