Download or read book Physical Constants written by G.W. Childs and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Time changes most things, and physical constants are seem ingly not immune from this contingency. The publishers' suggestion for a new edition has provided an opportunity for a thorough scrutiny of the contents of this book and for the adjustment to some fourteen years of changes since the last edition. At the same time the contents have been increased by the addition of one or two new tables, and current moves towards the adoption of an international system of units ex plain the appearance in the book, wherever it is practicable, of S. 1. units. However, the habits of a lifetime are not easily changed, and it is too much to expect that despite careful proofreading the change of units has been carried through without errors. I shall be grateful for intimation of such mis takes. I wish moreover to thank all those who in the past have taken the trouble to draw my attention to errors, or to superior determinations, or simply to offer advice or criticism. For those who do not find what they seek in this collection, more complete compilations of physical constants are to be found in: Tables of Physical and Chemical Constants, G. W. C. Kaye and T. H. Laby, 13th edition 1966, Longman. Handbook of Chemistry and Physics, 52nd edition 1971, Chemical Rubber Company. International Critical Tables. National Research Council, McGraw-Hill. Book International Compendium of Numerical Data Projects

Download or read book International Compendium of Numerical Data Projects written by CODATA (The Committee on Data for Science and Technology ofthe International Council of Scientific Unions) and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the time of its establishment in 1966, by the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), the Committee on Data for Science and Technol ogy (CODATA) was given the basic mission of promoting and encouraging, on a worldwide basis, the production and distribution of compendia and of collections of critically selected numerical data on substances other forms of interest and importance to science and technology. To accomplish this aim, the following tasks were assigned to CODATA: (1) To ascertain, on a worldwide basis, what work on compilation of numerical data is being carried on in each country and under each union, and from this information, to prepare and distribute a Directory or Com pendium of the Data-Compiling Projects and Related Publications of the World; (2) To achieve coordination of existing programs and to recommend new programs; (3) To encourage, from all appropriate sources, financial support for work on compilation; (4) To encourage the use of internationally approved symbols, units, constants, terminology, and nomenclature; (5) To encourage and coordinate research on new methods for preparing and disseminating data for science and technology. In its first two years of operation, 1966 to 1968, in Washington, D. c. , U. S. A. , CODATA fortunately had as its Director Dr. GUY WADDINGTON, who was also Director of the Office of Critical Tables of the National Research Council (NRC), U. S. A. Dr.

Book Selected Constants Relative to Semi Conductors

Download or read book Selected Constants Relative to Semi Conductors written by P Aigrain and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-02 with total page 81 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Selected Constants Relative to Semi-Conductors presents the physical constants of semiconductors in Table form. The values of the electronic properties of semiconductors presented in the Table are parameters intended for use in theoretical and phenomenological equations relative to the band theory for these materials. In addition to data specific to band structure, the Table also includes mobilities of electrons and holes and their variation with temperature. Data of a general physical character are also presented, since the researcher very often finds use for values of this type. The following quantities are given when available: symmetry group and crystal parameters, refractive index, dielectric constant, effective ionic charge, work function, photoemission work function, piezoresistance coefficient, elastic coefficients, phonon temperature, Debye temperature, magnetic susceptibility, coefficient of linear expansion, fusion temperature, sublimation temperature, specific heat at constant pressure, latent heat of fusion, latent heat of sublimation, thermal conductivity, disorder factor, and density.

Book International Tables for Crystallography Volume C

Download or read book International Tables for Crystallography Volume C written by E. Prince and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-01-31 with total page 1033 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Tables for Crystallography are no longer available for purchase from Springer. For further information please contact Wiley Inc. (follow the link on the right hand side of this page). The purpose of Volume C is to provide the mathematical, physical and chemical information needed for experimental studies in structural crystallography. The volume covers all aspects of experimental techniques, using all three principal radiation types, from the selection and mounting of crystals and production of radiation, through data collection and analysis, to interpretation of results. As such, it is an essential source of information for all workers using crystallographic techniques in physics, chemistry, metallurgy, earth sciences and molecular biology.

Book Spectrophysics

    Book Details:
  • Author : Anne P. Thorne
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9400911939
  • Pages : 405 pages

Download or read book Spectrophysics written by Anne P. Thorne and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the methods of experimental spectroscopy and their use in the study of physical phenomena. The applications of optical spectroscopy may be grouped under three broad headings: chemical analysis, elucidation of atomic and molecular structure, and investigations of the interactions of radiating atoms and molecules with their environment. I have used the word 'Spectro physics' for the third of these by analogy with spectrochemistry for the first and in preference to 'quantitative spectroscopy'. A number of textbooks treat atomic and molecular structure at varying levels of profundity, but elementary spectrophysics is not, so far as I am aware, covered in anyone existing book. There is moreover a lack of up-to-date books on experimental techniques that treat in a fairly elementary fashion interfero metric, Fourier transform and radiofrequency methods as well as prism and grating spectroscopy. In view of the importance of spectrophysics in astrophys ics and plasma physics as well as in atomic and molecular spectroscopy there seemed a place for a book describing both the experimental methods and their spectrophysical applications.

Book Spectroscopic Data Relative to Diatomic Molecules

Download or read book Spectroscopic Data Relative to Diatomic Molecules written by B. Rosen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-24 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectroscopic Data Relative to Diatomic Molecules provides information pertinent to the electronic spectrum and spectroscopic properties of diatomic molecules. This book consists of a collection of tables that mainly deal with electronic spectra located in the infrared, the visible and the ultraviolet. Thermochemical data have been used in this book to make estimates of dissociation energies while results from electron diffraction experiments have been used to determine internuclear distances. This text provides information regarding potential energy curves, ionization potential, correlations with atomic states, electronic configuration, lifetimes, transition probabilities, astrophysical applications, and chemical physics. This book is a valuable resource for spectroscopists.
