Download or read book Handbook of Research on Human Computer Interfaces Developments and Applications written by Rodrigues, João and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2016-06-29 with total page 694 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is easy to define yet difficult to predict. Encompassing the management, study, planning, and design of the ways in which users interact with computers, this field has evolved from using punch cards to force touch in a matter of decades. What was once considered science fiction is now ubiquitous. The future of HCI is mercurial, yet predictions point to the effortless use of high-functioning services. The Handbook of Research on Human-Computer Interfaces, Developments, and Applications is primarily concerned with emerging research regarding gesture interaction, augmented reality, and assistive technologies and their place within HCI. From gaming to rehabilitation systems, these new technologies share the need to interface with humans, and as computers become thoroughly integrated into everyday life, so does the necessity of HCI research. This handbook of research benefits the research needs of programmers, developers, students and educators in computer science, and researchers.
Download or read book The Development of Personal Learning Environments in Higher Education written by Yilin Sun and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-03-08 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Development of Personal Learning Environments in Higher Education explores how today’s knowledge-based, learner-centered virtual platforms, which often limit teaching to a complimentary facilitation role, can compromise with the requirements and regulations of colleges and universities. Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) driven by culturally responsive teaching and learner autonomy represent a shift in the higher education paradigm, but how can scholars, designers, administrators, and faculty ensure effective, institutionally compatible construction and management of these systems? This book offers forward-thinking insights into the variety of student-centered learning interactions, particularly culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogies, that can be integrated into PLEs. Attending to quality assessment rubrics, the nuances of stakeholders’ needs, and theoretically sound frameworks, these cross-cultural, interdisciplinary chapters explore how leaders, instructors, technologists, and learners can form a precise yet flexible ecosystem to fully realize PLEs in which co-created, intercultural narratives yield rich, relevant digital learning experiences.

Download or read book Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management written by Satyajit Chakrabarti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-05-30 with total page 822 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: IRTM 2023 We live in an inter-connected world. In the era of Industry 5.0, technology is getting embedded more and more in the way ‘we learn, live, work and play’. This progression is accelerating at a pace never seen before. Inter disciplinary and collaborative research across disciplines within the Technology domain and Management domain, and across the Technology — Management interface is opening up exciting new possibilities for solving problems whose solutions are beyond the scope of a single discipline, domain or practice, and helping to create a brave, new world. We are living in an incredible time of change. Our effort to hold such an interdisciplinary conference, in the virtual mode, apparently resonated across the academic community, as was evident from the huge response that the first ever conference on “Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management”, (IRTM) held in February 2021 had received from participants across many countries. This has encouraged the organizers to hold the next edition of the conference physically in Kolkata on a larger scale in the online mode. The pandemic unleashed by Covid 19 in the last two years has shaken the socio-economic foundations of countries and societies to a point where the world cannot be the same as before the pandemic. It has re-focused the world’s attention on the priority of healthcare, and healthcare infrastructure and its innovative management. Inevitably, questions have again been raised more vehemently on what kind of a world we want to live in. Environmental concerns are being pursued with renewed vigour, The urgency of developing new, robust infrastructure relevant for the new world is gaining wider consensus. By 2030, as reports suggest, cyber – physical systems, internet of things and wearable technology will be everywhere and in everything, renewable energy will power the world, and digital entertainment will take centre stage among other developments. The third edition of the conference on “Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management” attempts to spotlight the above concerns. The number of tracks on which papers are invited from scholars, researchers, consultants and practitioners to share their interdisciplinary research and consultative work has been enlarged. As before, the papers will be peer reviewed and authors of the selected papers will be invited to present their papers in the IRTM conference. The presentation of papers will be interspersed with Keynote Talks by eminent experts on the theme of the conference or individual domains.

Download or read book Formalized Probability Theory and Applications Using Theorem Proving written by Hasan, Osman and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2015-03-31 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientists and engineers often have to deal with systems that exhibit random or unpredictable elements and must effectively evaluate probabilities in each situation. Computer simulations, while the traditional tool used to solve such problems, are limited in the scale and complexity of the problems they can solve. Formalized Probability Theory and Applications Using Theorem Proving discusses some of the limitations inherent in computer systems when applied to problems of probabilistic analysis, and presents a novel solution to these limitations, combining higher-order logic with computer-based theorem proving. Combining practical application with theoretical discussion, this book is an important reference tool for mathematicians, scientists, engineers, and researchers in all STEM fields.
