Book Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management

Download or read book Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management written by Satyajit Chakrabarti and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2021-09-14 with total page 688 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The conference on ‘Interdisciplinary Research in Technology and Management” was a bold experiment in deviating from the traditional approach of conferences which focus on a specific topic or theme. By attempting to bring diverse inter-related topics on a common platform, the conference has sought to answer a long felt need and give a fillip to interdisciplinary research not only within the technology domain but across domains in the management field as well. The spectrum of topics covered in the research papers is too wide to be singled out for specific mention but it is noteworthy that these papers addressed many important and relevant concerns of the day.

Book Facilitating Interdisciplinary Research

Download or read book Facilitating Interdisciplinary Research written by Institute of Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2005-04-04 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facilitating Interdisciplinary Research examines current interdisciplinary research efforts and recommends ways to stimulate and support such research. Advances in science and engineering increasingly require the collaboration of scholars from various fields. This shift is driven by the need to address complex problems that cut across traditional disciplines, and the capacity of new technologies to both transform existing disciplines and generate new ones. At the same time, however, interdisciplinary research can be impeded by policies on hiring, promotion, tenure, proposal review, and resource allocation that favor traditional disciplines. This report identifies steps that researchers, teachers, students, institutions, funding organizations, and disciplinary societies can take to more effectively conduct, facilitate, and evaluate interdisciplinary research programs and projects. Throughout the report key concepts are illustrated with case studies and results of the committee's surveys of individual researchers and university provosts.

Book Interdisciplinary Research Journeys

Download or read book Interdisciplinary Research Journeys written by Catherine Lyall and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2011-05-01 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Interdisciplinarity' has become a rallying cry among funders and leaders of research. Yet, while the creative potential of interdisciplinary research is great, it poses many challenges. If you don't have disciplinary boundaries, how do you decide what to include or leave out? And what are the parameters for evaluating the research? This book provides a practical guide for researchers and research managers who are seeking to develop interdisciplinary research strategies at a personal, institutional and multi-institutional level. The book draws on examples from across the social and natural sciences but also offers valuable lessons for other combinations of more proximate disciplines. At a time when interdisciplinary research is increasingly centre stage in the research agenda, this book offers a crucial practical guide for researchers, research funders and managers from all backgrounds and contexts.

Book Knowledge Management

Download or read book Knowledge Management written by Shaofeng Liu and published by Kogan Page Publishers. This book was released on 2020-01-03 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As knowledge economies become increasingly important around the world, it is essential that organizations are able to transform their knowledge into a competitive advantage. This textbook offers an interdisciplinary approach to knowledge management written specifically for postgraduate students in business and management schools. Knowledge Management presents classic and advanced concepts, models and frameworks using a clear logical structure, which covers building knowledge competence, the knowledge lifecycle, and integration of knowledge management with business decision making. An overall framework illustrates links between chapters and ensures readers can gain a body of actionable knowledge rather than learning isolated, uncontextualized topics. Based on cutting-edge research findings and covering the most advanced IT and IS technologies, this book emphasises the need for knowledge management to span boundaries across organizations, supply chains and partnerships, rather than being limited to individual learning and sharing within businesses. Knowledge Management is international in scope and includes real world case studies and role play scenarios to show how theories are applied in practice, and "think back" and "critique discussion" questions to encourage reflective learning and critical thinking. This indispensable text provides a dynamic picture of the evolution of knowledge management and demonstrates its full potential to enable better business decisions. Accompanying online resources include PowerPoint slides for lecturers and exercise questions for students.

Book Data to Knowledge

Download or read book Data to Knowledge written by Tofael Ahamed and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a sound understanding for creating new knowledge, which takes three main forms: Exploratory research, which structures and identifies new problems; constructive research, which develops solutions to a problem; and empirical research, which tests the feasibility of a solution using empirical evidence. This book encompasses both qualitative and quantitative research and analysis. The reader should gain an understanding of the skills needed to design and undertake a research project, including legal and ethical requirements in planning research projects, choosing the best experimental design and analytical methods, and how to present data for extension to the wider community and establish the knowledge. Hands-on exercises are provided to improve reasoning skills, emphasising agricultural problems and issues to solve and interpret the experimental data to knowledge. The book covers research methods within these three forms with basic knowledge of research methodology. Design of experiments and significant results are interpreted through the scientific organisation and information in each of the chapters. The inherent discussion should help interdisciplinary graduate students and researchers accomplish their scientific experiments and write research articles. The cognitive writing style to interpret the observed data from experiments and surveys is emphasised in this book. The cognitive summary for each of the chapters is provided in the form of wording and graphics to focus on the chapter highlights as well as the use of analytical tools in the research. The utmost care is taken to present a varied range of research problems along with their solutions in agriculture and its allied fields, which should be of immense use to the readers interested in this topic.
