Book Intercultural Milestones Towards Transcultural Horizons

Download or read book Intercultural Milestones Towards Transcultural Horizons written by Gebhard Deissler and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2012-06-01 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2012 in the subject Cultural Studies - Miscellaneous, , language: English, abstract: The author develops an innovative five-P-global diversity management formula (based on physics, physiology, psychology, philosophy and metaphysics), culturally empowering expert and layman alike. Science and philosophy across time and space unanimously point to such a capability which evolution has intended from the beginning and which can now be liberated in order to viabilize peaceful change towards a global civilization. This formula is practical and effective because it goes beyond the manifestations of culture to its very roots in consciousness. Thus the cultural is naturally integrated in a superordinate command and control level of human consciousness. The intercultural is thereby redeemed by the transcultural, which constitutes a third millennium universal cultura franca for all members of the human family irrespective of culture and background. An amazing gift of grace, bestowed on man, indeed! The headings “Milestones, Horizons, Language and Compass” represent the roadmap and the travellers’-managers’ toolkit from the present-day intercultural to an emergent transculturally integrated world. The intercultural part of the journey is contributed by the universally known intercultural scholars, while my contribution shows how the diversity of scholarly contributions can be integrated by what I call the emergent transcultural paradigm. Hoping that I have duly referenced the myriads of contributors and intercultural scholars I would like to express them my thanks, for due to their work I can show, how the integration of the heterogeneous intercultural research can be achieved epistemologically and psychologically alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While acknowledging their major debt to Europeans like Freud, Piaget, Erickson, Lewin, and Jung, American psychologists generally concentrated on developments in American psychology. And this tendency prevails in spite of the fact that innovations—in sport psychology and clinical neuropsychology, for example—have continued to come from abroad. International Psychology is a much-needed exposition of the state of psychology in forty-five countries, including the Soviet Union and the United States. Emphasizing the period from 1960 to the present, and surveying the training, research, and practice of psychologists on six continents, this volume introduces a widely dispersed network of occupational kinfolk, many of whom have scant knowledge of one another. The editors provide a panoramic view in the opening chapter, as well as an epilogue and name and subject indexes. The contributors, nearly all distinguished psychologists in their countries, represent Argentina, Armenia, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, the German Democratic Republic, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Iran, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Yugoslavia, and Zimbabwe.

The report proposes a series of ten policy-oriented recommendations, to the attention of States, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, international and regional bodies, national institutions and the private sector on how to invest in cultural diversity. Emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity in different areas (languages, education, communication and new media development, and creativity and the marketplace) based on data and examples collected from around the world, the report is also intended for the general public. It proposes a coherent vision of cultural diversity and clarifies how, far from being a threat, it can become beneficial to the action of the international community.
