Book Integrity in the Business Panorama

Download or read book Integrity in the Business Panorama written by Sebastian Văduva and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-11 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume explores the value of business integrity and ethics as a "best practice" model in business strategy. The authors define business integrity, explore areas in which integrity is often absent or discredited, and provide a framework and tools to help build better business ethics and corporate social responsibility. The volume aims to reveal that beyond the immediate economic effect, corruption can ruin entire countries by destabilizing key economic and political players, warping their vision for state development. Against the backdrop of global financial and ethical crises, the authors argue that integrity in business is a key component for long-term success. Integrity includes the ability to be consistent with one’s moral values and principles and places society’s wishes at the center of business decision-making. The cornerstone upon which a culture of integrity is built within a certain business is the ethics code. It explicitly states the values and principles to which a company adheres. The continuous promotion, support and communication of the ethics code stipulations provide the basis upon which integrity in business is built. Featuring case studies from countries such as Sweden, Great Britain and France and companies such Starbucks, Nike, PSEG, and Anglo-American PLC, this volume provides a comprehensive study of business integrity and social responsibility that will be of interest to students, scholars, professionals and policy-makers from around the world.

Book Corporate Culture Practices of German Corporations in the Host Country Indonesia

Download or read book Corporate Culture Practices of German Corporations in the Host Country Indonesia written by Aang Koswara and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-13 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study addresses the corporate cultural practices of German companies in the host country Indonesia from the perspective of Indonesian employees, managers and German expatriates. The focus is on the intercultural challenges that arise in the practice of daily cooperation between Indonesian and German organizational members. Using qualitative methods, the study examines how these challenges are viewed and managed by organizational members, what cultural differences are evident in them and how these differences can be explained, and finally, what strategies can be used to overcome the challenges in everyday business. This ethnographic study is based on interviews with Indonesian and German organizational members, analysis of internal company journals and newsletters, and observations collected by the author as a "professional stranger" at Indonesian sites of German multinational companies. The study concludes that four cultural issues are fundamental factors in the corporate culture of German companies in the host country Indonesia: first, the implementation of a culture of integrity; second, issues of leadership in a hierarchy-driven social environment; third, the daily use of language and the flow of information in a multilingual professional environment; and finally, the creation and maintenance of harmonious, family-like working relationships.

America's economic and political system has developed mechanisms designed to check and balance such power. Despite these mechanisms, there are chief executives who abuse their power in a fraudulent and self-serving pursuit of wealth and authority. How did this happen? How did the system respond? What can be done to prevent it in the future? Corruption in Corporate America seeks to answer these questions. The analysis is supported by a look ahead at the prospective results of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, the law intended as a corrective response to corporate corruption.
