Book Integrated Flexible Welding System

Download or read book Integrated Flexible Welding System written by Hobart R. Everett and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report discusses the history of requirement for and structure of the Integrated Flexible Welding System (LIFWS), one of the projects in the Naval Sea Systems Command's (NAVSEA) Integrated Robotics Program. This project sponsored by the Navy Manufacturing Technology (MT) Office, is intended to develop a flexible, adaptive gas metal arc welding (GMAW) capability for making high quality, cost effective welds on small batch or single workpiece items in a shipyard environment. The IFWS concept has resulted in the development of separately developed modules which could stand alone if necessary; however the intent is to integrate them into a system tailored to satisfy Navy unique manufacturing and repair needs. Modules discussed in the report include the Robotic Adaptive Welding System (RAWS) the 3D Weld Seam Tracking System (3D WSTS), and the Global Vision System (GVS). Typing all the components together is the Intelligent Communications Interface (ICI), a hierarchical control architecture linking knowledge-bas ed design, planning and control activities to the modules performing the work. The report closes with a statement of the integration plan to be followed when implementing the IFWS. (Author).

Download or read book Design of a Flexible Robotic Arc Welding System Task 3 Volume 1 System Overview written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report represents the 100 percent completion of the technical data package (TDP) for Task III of the Flexible Robotic Arc Welding System. The system design was developed to allow a diverse group of steel weldments to be fixtured, preheated, robotically arc welded manually inspected, repaired, and moved by an automatic guided vehicle throughout the welding system. The system is monitored and operated by a systems computer in a distributed control environment. The two welding robots are individually controlled by their own robotic controller but downloaded from the systems computer depending on the bar coded information that follows the fixtured weldment mounted on universal pallets. The report consists of three volumes of design specifications with a fourth volume of technical supporting information that will be supplied upon specific request only. Welding, Arc welding, Robots, Robotics, Systems engineering, Flexible welding systems, Computer integrated manufacturing.

Book Flexible Manufacturing Systems Recent Developments

Download or read book Flexible Manufacturing Systems Recent Developments written by A. Raouf and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-02-09 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) involve substituting machines capable of performing a wide and redefinable variety of tasks for machines dedicated to the performance of specific tasks. FMS can also be programmed to handle new products, thus extending the machines' life cycles. Thus they represent a change from "standardized goods produced by customized machines" to "customized goods produced by standardized machines". This volume contains new and updated material in this field, and will be of great interest to researchers, managers and students concerned with problems related to flexible manufacturing systems.

Book Systems Analysis and Simulation II

Download or read book Systems Analysis and Simulation II written by Achim Sydow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 423 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume contains the papers which were accepted for presentation at the 3rd International Symposium for Systems Analysis and Simulation held in Berlin (GDR), September 12-:-16, 1988. It is already a tradition to meet a broad international community of experts in systems analysis, modelling and simulation at this symposium. This fact shows the requirements for a forum of presentation and discussion of new developments and applications of modelling and simulation in systems analysis. To realize the great interest in this field one has to take into consideration the developed role of computer simulation as a powerful tool of problem solving. More and more areas in sciences and production have been investigated by mathematical models and computer' simulation. Biological sciences and social sciences are even by now influenced by this trend. The model use on the computer has been very much improved in decision support systems. Parallel simulation will provide drastic shortening of computing time. Parallel simulation and model based decision support systems are brought in the focus of international activities. Numerical mathematics, systems theory and control sciences provide with algorithms supporting the modelling process itself based on simulation or analytic methods. Such simulation systems equipped with tools for modelling and graphics for representing results are real model support systems. A new important impact comes from artificial intelligence by knowledge processing. Expert systems may help decision making in case of missing mathematical models. Expert systems may also support teaching and using simulation systems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has become clear in recent years from such major forums as the various international conferences on flexible manufacruring systems (FMSs) that the computer-controlled and -integrated "factory of the furure" is now being considered as a commercially viable and technically achievable goal. To date, most attention has been given to the design, development, and evalu ation of flexible machining systems. Now, with the essential support of increasing numbers of industrial examples, the general concepts, technical requirements, and cost-effectiveness of responsive, computer-integrated, flexible machining systems are fast becoming established knowledge. There is, of course, much still to be done in the development of modular com puter hardware and software, and the scope for cost-effective developments in pro gramming systems, workpiece handling, and quality control will ensure that contin uing development will occur over the next decade. However, international attention is now increasingly rurning toward the flexible computer control of the assembly process as the next logical step in progressive factory automation. It is here at this very early stage that Tony Owen has bravely set out to encompass the future field of flexible assembly systems (FASs) in his own distinctive, wide-ranging style.
