Le plan de traitement mit en place est un ensemble de compromis, et de décisions prises de concert entre le praticien, le patient et le prothésiste. Le patient de son côté apporte sa demande auprès du praticien, valide les prises de décisions. Le praticien lui, pose l'indication en fonction de l'état fonctionnel et esthétique de la bouche du patient, des souhaits du patient, et propose au patient le meilleur plan de traitement. La réussite de ce traitement réside dans une bonne définition des différents problèmes et dans l'établissement d'un plan de traitement comportant des objectifs globaux et non partiels. La restauration d'une bouche dans son ensemble est complexe, mais pas inaccessible, et devient au combien valorisant lorsque les objectifs initiaux sont atteints.
