Download or read book Instrument Equipment of Electric Test Car Classic Reprint written by Leonard Vaughan James and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Instrument Equipment of Electric Test-Car The Electrical Engineering department of the University of Illinois has recently added to its laboratory equipment, an interurban car. This car, equipped with four 50 horse - power Westinghouse direct-current motors, is intended for use prin cipally as a test car for obtaining reliable data in operating under various conditions, found or prescribed. The installation of suitable testing instruments for determining and recording this desired data was assigned to us as a promising subject for thesis work. This instrument equipment is in part supplied from the market and in part of original design, those instruments consid ered as original being the speed indicator and accelerometer, the curve indicator, and the recording apparatus, each of which are described somewhat in detail in this thesis. Of the more common apparatus, such as the meters, time and distance markers, and so on, that in use is substantially as described below. This book was released on 2017-09-13 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Shop Tests Electric Car Equipment, for Inspectors and Foremen This book is the first of two books designed to cover in a practical manner the testing of electric car equipment with such instruments and other facilities as may be available or obtainable in a car house. An effort is made to so present the subject that the instructions and information given can be profitably used even if not entirely under stood. To this end simple explanations, illustra tions and practical examples are freely used. The appended questions, it is believed, will efficiently rehearse the readers' knowledge of the informa tion contained in the text. In the methods given refinement is at times sacrificed to practicability with the object of showing how results are obtained rather than how they might be. As the subject covers new ground, at least in the method of presentation, the writers feel that suggestions from readers would be especially valuable and in vite the readers' cooperation. Book Miscellaneous Tests of Electric Car Equipment Classic Reprint

Download or read book Miscellaneous Tests of Electric Car Equipment Classic Reprint written by Eugene C. Parham and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-21 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Miscellaneous Tests of Electric Car Equipment The present volume is the second of two, the first being entitled Shop Tests on Electric Car Equipment. In the first volume many of the more common and some less common, but useful, equipment tests were so described as to be readily available to men of limited testing facilities and experience. The second volume continues this effort to present the testing subject in a simple and direct manner and embodies tests and explanations that could not well be included in the first book. It is believed that the two books cover a large part of the equipment-testing field in a way not previously attempted, both in the manner of presentation and in that, information hitherto scattered, has been brought within the scope of two comparatively small books. In giving numerous rules, examples, solutions, directions, notes and rehearsing ques tions, the authors have tried to treat the subject in a practical manner; the purpose being not only to reach nonmathematical readers, but to give mathe matical readers of limited experience a line on how such tests are actually made with the facilities usually available, rather than how they might or should be made under ideal conditions. If these objects have been accomplished we feel that the mission of the book has been attained. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Electric and Magnetic Measurements and Measuring Instruments Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electric and Magnetic Measurements and Measuring Instruments Classic Reprint written by Frank W. Roller and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-15 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric and Magnetic Measurements and Measuring Instruments The following volume has been written for the use of those who have to do with electrical and magnetic measurements in one form or another, and as these must be made in practically all branches of the profession, from the simple testing out of lines and resistances to the most elaborate determination of designs, it is hoped that its Sphere of usefulness will be quite large. The subjects have, throughout, been approached with a View toward their use by users, not manufacturers, of measuring apparatus, that is to say the book is in no sense intended as a treatise on the design and construction of instruments, the circle interested being decidedly limited. Descriptions are, however, given of apparatus as well as of methods of test, because knowl edge of the manner in which a principle is utilized in concrete instruments often suggests, to one having a determination to make but is at the same time without the particular form of appliance ordinarily employed for that purpose, means of adap ing thereto some other device which is at hand. Further, in illustrating examples of instruments for different kinds of work, there has been in mind the idea that these will enable engineers to decide, with the aid of their general engineering knowledge, which are the best suited to their particular requirements. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Laboratory and Factory Tests: In Electrical Engineering Instruments should not be used in close proximity to dynamos, motors or conductors carrying large currents, for readings are affected by magnetic leakage from these sources, and the steel magnets in the instruments are liable to be permanently changed. A certain method of detecting this trouble is to note whether the instrument reads the same when it is turned around into different angular positions. Download or read book Electrical Engineering Measuring Instruments for Commercial and Laboratory Classic Reprint written by George Dudley Aspinall Parr and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-16 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Engineering Measuring Instruments for Commercial and Laboratory Since the electrical engineering industry began to show signs of rapid development, numerous types and forms of measuring instruments have been devised by different inventors. Many of these are now obsolete, having given place to instruments with greater refinements and on better principles. Though several of these obsolete types are extremely interesting. And, indeed, instructive, they have not been described in the present work. If information regarding them is required, it will be found in the abridged patent specifications since about 1880. Only those instruments in actual and extensive use at the present day are here considered. And these form so large a body that it seems better not to try to deal with the historical portion of the subject. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Industrial Electrical Measuring Instruments IN the interval which has elapsed since the publication of the First Edition, there has been considerable development 111 nearly all directions. Of epoch making innovations there has been none, but progress has been continuous. As a result, it has been necessary to rewrite the whole, and the expansion of all sections has been so great that in order to keep Within reasonable limits some have had to be abandoned. For this reason, the subject of Fault Localisa tion, as distinguished from Fault Detection, has been omitted, as have also Relays and Over Pressure Devices. Pyrometers, on the other hand, have again been dealt with at some length. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
