Book Applied Time Series Analysis

Download or read book Applied Time Series Analysis written by Wayne A. Woodward and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-10-26 with total page 554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Virtually any random process developing chronologically can be viewed as a time series. In economics, closing prices of stocks, the cost of money, the jobless rate, and retail sales are just a few examples of many. Developed from course notes and extensively classroom-tested, Applied Time Series Analysis includes examples across a variety of fields, develops theory, and provides software to address time series problems in a broad spectrum of fields. The authors organize the information in such a format that graduate students in applied science, statistics, and economics can satisfactorily navigate their way through the book while maintaining mathematical rigor. One of the unique features of Applied Time Series Analysis is the associated software, GW-WINKS, designed to help students easily generate realizations from models and explore the associated model and data characteristics. The text explores many important new methodologies that have developed in time series, such as ARCH and GARCH processes, time varying frequencies (TVF), wavelets, and more. Other programs (some written in R and some requiring S-plus) are available on an associated website for performing computations related to the material in the final four chapters.

Book Revisiting Language Learning Resources

Download or read book Revisiting Language Learning Resources written by Carlos Periñán Pascual and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2009-03-26 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human and material resources are two key elements that make up the language learning process. Regarding material resources, nowadays new technologies can be said to play a leading role in most language learning environments. However, we cannot forget that these relatively new tools still coexist with more traditional ones which are still widely used in the foreign language classroom. On the other hand, the progressive emergence of new 'human roles' in language learning means that human resources have also become a key medium through which the learner accesses knowledge and practice towards language acquisition. There is an obvious need to carry out research on these resources in order to assess their potential for an optimum learning experience. This book tries to meet such needs offering the research work that different authors have carried out in this field.

Book Starting Digital Signal Processing in Telecommunication Engineering

Download or read book Starting Digital Signal Processing in Telecommunication Engineering written by Tomasz P. Zieliński and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 874 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This hands-on, laboratory driven textbook helps readers understand principles of digital signal processing (DSP) and basics of software-based digital communication, particularly software-defined networks (SDN) and software-defined radio (SDR). In the book only the most important concepts are presented. Each book chapter is an introduction to computer laboratory and is accompanied by complete laboratory exercises and ready-to-go Matlab programs with figures and comments (available at the book webpage and running also in GNU Octave 5.2 with free software packages), showing all or most details of relevant algorithms. Students are tasked to understand programs, modify them, and apply presented concepts to recorded real RF signal or simulated received signals, with modelled transmission condition and hardware imperfections. Teaching is done by showing examples and their modifications to different real-world telecommunication-like applications. The book consists of three parts: introduction to DSP (spectral analysis and digital filtering), introduction to DSP advanced topics (multi-rate, adaptive, model-based and multimedia - speech, audio, video - signal analysis and processing) and introduction to software-defined modern telecommunication systems (SDR technology, analog and digital modulations, single- and multi-carrier systems, channel estimation and correction as well as synchronization issues). Many real signals are processed in the book, in the first part – mainly speech and audio, while in the second part – mainly RF recordings taken from RTL-SDR USB stick and ADALM-PLUTO module, for example captured IQ data of VOR avionics signal, classical FM radio with RDS, digital DAB/DAB+ radio and 4G-LTE digital telephony. Additionally, modelling and simulation of some transmission scenarios are tested in software in the book, in particular TETRA, ADSL and 5G signals. Provides an introduction to digital signal processing and software-based digital communication; Presents a transition from digital signal processing to software-defined telecommunication; Features a suite of pedagogical materials including a laboratory test-bed and computer exercises/experiments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the Proceedings of the Eighth International Symposium on Acoustical Imaging, held in Key Biscayne, Miami, Florida May 29th to June 2nd, 1978. The title of the Symposium was changed again this year by dropping the word "Holography" to reflect the further emphasis on the general imaging aspects of the Symposium and the de-emphasis on the Holographic aspects. Because of this continued changing nature of the Symposium Series this volume has undergone the title change from ACOUSTICAL HOLOGRAPHY to ACOUSTICAL IMAGING. The 47 papers presented here illustrate the continued growth in this dynamic field. There has been a large emphasis on Array Technology as well as Underwater Applications, Seismic Applications, Transducers, New Methods, Acoustic Microscopy, Non-destructive Testing, Computer Tomography Techniques, Medical Applications as well as Tissue Characterization. The meeting was a great success and a stimulating experience for all concerned due principally to the enthusiasm and contrib utions of all of the authors represented here. The editor wishes to extend his appreciation and thanks to each and everyone of them. The editor also wishes to thank the members of the Program Committee who helped in selecting the papers and giving their able advice on the details of the meeting. Book Instantaneous Morison Equation Force Coefficients Computation

Download or read book Instantaneous Morison Equation Force Coefficients Computation written by J. Dummer and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research hypothesized that the use of conventional time invariant drag and inertia coefficients in the Morison equation for dynamic wave force simulation is incorrect. These coefficients are obtained via period averaging regression analysis techniques that efface the subperiodic fluctuation in the flow and pressure fields adjacent to structural members. Computer programs were written to develop a set of instantaneous drag and inertia coefficients for use in conjunction with the Morison equation to retain this subperiodic information. The results of this effort are inconclusive due to the computation of some negative instantaneous drag coefficients from ostensibly reliable well conditioned wave force experimental data. Keywords: Wave forces; Morison equation; Force coefficients; Drag coefficient; Flow charting; Inertia coefficient; Dynamic loads; Ocean structures. (JHD).

Book Smoothness Priors Analysis of Time Series

Download or read book Smoothness Priors Analysis of Time Series written by Genshiro Kitagawa and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Smoothness Priors Analysis of Time Series addresses some of the problems of modeling stationary and nonstationary time series primarily from a Bayesian stochastic regression "smoothness priors" state space point of view. Prior distributions on model coefficients are parametrized by hyperparameters. Maximizing the likelihood of a small number of hyperparameters permits the robust modeling of a time series with relatively complex structure and a very large number of implicitly inferred parameters. The critical statistical ideas in smoothness priors are the likelihood of the Bayesian model and the use of likelihood as a measure of the goodness of fit of the model. The emphasis is on a general state space approach in which the recursive conditional distributions for prediction, filtering, and smoothing are realized using a variety of nonstandard methods including numerical integration, a Gaussian mixture distribution-two filter smoothing formula, and a Monte Carlo "particle-path tracing" method in which the distributions are approximated by many realizations. The methods are applicable for modeling time series with complex structures.
