Download or read book Love The Greatest Gift of All written by Pauline DiBenedetto and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-04-19 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pauline Di Benedetto of No. Attleboro, Massachusetts, has won several awards and a few trophies for her poetry. She says that she received her gift of writing at a very young age. Her words began to rhyme while saying her prayers. That was when she knew that writing was her purpose in life. Love, The Greatest Gift of All is a collection of all the poems she has written throughout the years, with the hope of having most of them put to music. These are the songs of her heart; hoping they will touch yours as well. Pauline has written two other books which is available on Amazon and can be ordered in any brick-and-mortar stores. Her first book is called Faith, Through the Eyes of a Child. In this book, she shares her childhood memories of her relationship with God. She says that the purpose of this book is hopefully to inspire others to have the faith of a little child and to lead others to have their own relationship with God, no matter what religion, or background they come from. In this book, she shares her childhood memories of her relationship with God and some hard challenges she had to face. Included in that book, she shared family photos and an inspired poem after each chapter. Quoting a passage from the Bible, "And a little child shall lead them," Pauline believes she has truly fulfilled this need, by leading as a little child. Her second book, that was also published by us, is called Keeping in Touch with the Other Side. This book, Pauline believes, is "the one" that was meant to be written all along. This was also the book that she hesitated to write, fearing that it would be too controversial, and seam to give the impression that she would appear to be holier than thou. On the contrary, she feels the complete opposite. The message she would like to give is "We are all God's children, and we are all special in his eyes." While writing this book, she was forced (spiritually) to reveal some personal events that she would have wanted to keep to herself, but as the quote says, "The truth shall set you free." Pauline believes that she did not write her books alone, for she was guided by the "Divine Spirit Within."

Book excerpt: The book Anointed Inspirational Poems is written to inspire others and point out the time we are now living in and how very crucial it is to seek refuge in the promise for the Promise Land. This book of poems gives an account of her life experiences and recognizes God’s movement throughout through her inspirational poems and sayings. It uplifts and gives a true account of the way things were from her beginnings up until the present. Having encountered a disobedience spirit early on, she believe that one may find some similiarity. It would be understood that others go through the same issues. Learning how to deal with those issues are the key. This book is written in hopes that it will help everyone understand the dynamics of where we are in this day and time and see the importance of taking a true assessment of the way we are living and whether we want to spend eternity with the Lord. Anointed Inspirational Poems is written to encourage the reader to keep pressing forward, looking toward a better tomorrow while never forgetting your past and using it as a learning experience to build a better future for generations to come. Download or read book Atlantic Double Cross written by Robert Weisbuch and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1989-11-14 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this ambitious study of the intense and often adversarial relationship between English and American literature in the nineteenth century, Robert Weisbuch portrays the rise of American literary nationalism as a self-conscious effort to resist and, finally, to transcend the contemporary British influence. Describing the transatlantic "double-cross" of literary influence, Weisbuch documents both the American desire to create a literature distinctly different from English models and the English insistence that any such attempt could only fail. The American response, as he demonstrates, was to make strengths out of national disadvantages by rethinking history, time, and traditional concepts of the self, and by reinterpreting and ridiculing major British texts in mocking allusions and scornful parodies. Weisbuch approaches a precise characterization of this "double-cross" by focusing on paired sets of English and American texts. Investigations of the causes, motives, and literary results of the struggle alternate with detailed analyses of several test cases. Weisbuch considers Melville's challenge to Dickens, Thoreau's response to Coleridge and Wordsworth, Hawthorne's adaptation of Keats and influence on Eliot, Whitman's competition with Arnold, and Poe's reshaping of Shelley. Adding a new dimension to the exploration of an emerging aesthetic consciousness, Atlantic Double-Cross provides important insights into the creation of the American literary canon.

Download or read book The Ruthwell Cross and its Texts written by Kerstin Majewski and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2022-10-24 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ruthwell Cross is one of the finest Anglo-Saxon high crosses that have come down to us. The longest epigraphic text in the Old English Runes Corpus is inscribed on two sides of the monument: it forms an alliterative poem, in which the Cross itself narrates the crucifixion episode. Parts of the inscription are irrevocably lost. This study establishes a historico-cultural context for the Ruthwell Cross’s texts and sculptures. It shows that The Ruthwell Crucifixion Poem is an integral part of a Christian artefact but also an independent text. Although its verses match closely with lines of The Dream of the Rood in the Vercelli Book, a comparative analysis gives new insight into their complex relationship. An annotated transliteration of the runes offers intriguing information for runologists. Detailed linguistic and metrical analyses finally yield a new reconstruction of the lost runes. All in all, this study takes a fresh look at the Ruthwell Cross and provides the first scholarly edition of the reconstructed Ruthwell Crucifixion Poem—one of the earliest religious poems of Anglo-Saxon England. It will be of interest to scholars and students of historical linguistics, medieval English literature and culture, art history, and archaeology.
Download or read book Cross Examining Socrates written by John Beversluis and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2000-01-06 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a rereading of Plato's early dialogues from the point of view of the characters with whom Socrates engages in debate. Socrates' interlocutors are generally acknowledged to play important dialectical and dramatic roles, but no previous book has focused mainly on them. Existing studies are thoroughly dismissive of the interlocutors and reduce them to the status of mere mouthpieces for views which are hopelessly confused or demonstrably false. This book takes interlocutors seriously and treats them as genuine intellectual opponents whose views are often more defensible than commentators have standardly thought. The author's purpose is not to summarise their positions or the arguments of the dialogues in which they appear, much less to produce a series of biographical sketches, but to investigate the phenomenology of philosophical disputation as it manifests itself in the early dialogues.
