Book Economic Structure and Maturity Collected Papers in Input output Modelling and Applications

Download or read book Economic Structure and Maturity Collected Papers in Input output Modelling and Applications written by Ranko Bon and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-26 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2000: A collection of Ranko Bon's papers on input-output analysis and its applications. The underlying feature of the papers is a focus on the supply-side input-output model, which better predicts the behaviour of mature economic sectors, such as agriculture and mining, than the demand-sided model. The construction sector is especially relevant in the context of economic stability and maturity issues, as it offers an index of economic maturity for entire economies. This is the main theme that evolves through the papers collected in the book.

Book Input Output Modeling

Download or read book Input Output Modeling written by Anatoli Smyshlyaev and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Input-output modeling has, through the years, provided a consistent and unifying focus for IIASA's economic research. Scientists working in the Institute, first in the economic modeling task of the System and Decision Sciences area and later within the Economic Structural Change project, have cooperated extensively with colleagues throughout the world in advancing and contributing to input-output work. Perhaps the most notable aspect of these efforts has been the joint work with the INFORUM Project to develop linked systems of national models. Experience gained from the INFORUM-IIASA studies has been of great benefit to other members of the I/O community, but this is by no means the end of the story. Contributors not connected with INFORUM have also brought their own very valuable insights and knowledge to bear on the subject, and input-output modeling has moved progressively away from being a purely academic specialization. A number of the methods developed have direct application to economic analysis and policy formulation, and I/O techniques have achieved widespread use in both governmental and commercial environments. This volume presents the results of the fifth in a series of meetings organized by IIASA to promote methodological advances in the subject and to draw on a pool of I/O expertise so as to further the aims of the Institute's in-house economic research.

Book Handbook of Input Output Economics in Industrial Ecology

Download or read book Handbook of Input Output Economics in Industrial Ecology written by Sangwon Suh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-05-13 with total page 885 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Industrial Ecology (IE) is an emerging multidisciplinary field. University departments and higher education programs are being formed on the subject following the lead of Yale University, The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Leiden University, University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Carnegie Mellon University, University of California at Berkeley, Institute for Superior Technology in Lisbon, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich, and The University of Tokyo. IE deals with stocks and flows in interconnected networks of industry and the environment, which relies on a basic framework for analysis. Among others, Input-Output Analysis (IOA) is recognized as a key conceptual and analytical framework for IE. A major challenge is that the field of IOA manifests a long history since the 1930s with two Nobel Prize Laureates in the field and requires considerable analytical rigor. This led many instructors and researchers to call for a high-quality publication on the subject which embraces both state-of-the-art theory and principles as well as practical applications.

Book Wassily Leontief and Input Output Economics

Download or read book Wassily Leontief and Input Output Economics written by Erik Dietzenbacher and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-03-25 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wassily Leontief (1905–1999) was the founding father of input-output economics, for which he received the Nobel Prize in 1973. This book offers a collection of papers in memory of Leontief by his students and close colleagues. The first part, 'Reflections on Input-Output Economics', focuses upon Leontief as a person and scholar as well as his personal contributions to economics. It includes contributions by Nobel Laureate Paul A. Samuelson who shares his memories of a young Professor Leontief at Harvard and ends with the last joint interview with Wassily and his wife, to date previously unpublished. The second part, 'Perspectives of Input-Output Economics', includes theoretical and empirical research inspired by Leontief's work and offers a wide-ranging sample of the state of interindustry economics, a field Leontief founded. This is a strong collection likely to appeal to a wide range of professionals in universities, government, industry and international organizations.

Book Applied General Equilibrium

Download or read book Applied General Equilibrium written by John Piggott and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last 20 years, applied general equilibrium (AGE) modelling has developed from a small academic research program into a routinely used policy assessment tool. Major governments and international agencies maintain AGE research groups, and call for their input to a variety of trade, tax, and other resource allocation issues. This book is a collection of papers representative of recent activity in this field. Contributions have been grouped into a methodological section, a trade section, and a section on energy issues, and this division accurately indicates the focus of the volume. Readers will thus have access to up to date techniques and results currently being used by researchers at the forefront of the research program.

Book Firms and System Competitiveness in Italy

Download or read book Firms and System Competitiveness in Italy written by Alessandro Viviani and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent evolution of the Italian industrial system shows how the concepts of localization/delocalization of economic production processes have very little to do with geographical and administrative borders. In this context, a very important and discussed element of complexity is represented by the evaluation of competitiveness. Problems regarding the concept and its proper measurement require a deep elaboration and regard the context of analysis, the information and the available statistical data sources. This book aims at discussing this complex phenomenon from a critical viewpoint both at a macro (economic systems) and at a micro (firms) level showing that they are intrinsically integrated.

Book CasaPound Italia

    Book Details:
  • Author : Caterina Froio
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2020-01-24
  • ISBN : 1000765032
  • Pages : 144 pages

Download or read book CasaPound Italia written by Caterina Froio and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-01-24 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2003, the occupation of a state-owned building in Rome led to the emergence of a new extreme-right youth movement: CasaPound Italia (CPI). Its members described themselves as 'Fascists of the Third Millennium', and were unabashed about their admiration for Benito Mussolini. Over the next 15 years, they would take to the street, contest national elections, open over a hundred centres across Italy, and capture the attention of the Italian public. While CPI can count only on a few thousands votes, it enjoys disproportionate attention in public debates from the media. So what exactly is CasaPound? How can we explain the high profile achieved by such a nostalgic group with no electoral support? In this book, Caterina Froio, Pietro Castelli Gattinara, Giorgia Bulli and Matteo Albanese explore CasaPound Italia and its particular political strategy combining the organization and style of both political parties and social movements and bringing together extreme-right ideas and pop-culture symbols. They contend that this strategy of hybridization allowed a fringe organization like CasaPound to consolidate its position within the Italian far-right milieu, but also, crucially, to make extreme-right ideas routine in public debates. The authors illustrate this argument drawing on unique empirical material gathered during five years of research, including several months of overt observation at concerts and events, face-to-face interviews, and the qualitative and quantitative analysis of online and offline campaigns. By describing how hybridization grants extremist groups the leeway to expand their reach and penetrate mainstream political debates, this book is core reading for anyone concerned about the nature and growth of far-right politics in contemporary democracies. Providing a fresh insight as to how contemporary extreme-right groups organize to capture public attention, this study will also be of interest to students, scholars and activists interested in the complex relationship between party competition and street protest more generally.

Book Industrialization in Developing and Peripheral Regions

Download or read book Industrialization in Developing and Peripheral Regions written by F. E. Ian Hamilton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ten years before this book was originally published in 1986 saw major restructuring in the economies of the developed world. This was often closely related to industrial development in newly industrializing and third world countries. This book examines the performance of these developing countries and includes studies of 'peripheral regions' – less developed regions within more advanced economies. The overall findings are that whilst some areas and countries have success stories to tell (such as Korea), many so-called newly industrializing countries and regions have had serious problems.

Book Economic Multisectoral Modelling Between Past and Future

Download or read book Economic Multisectoral Modelling Between Past and Future written by Rossella Bardazzi and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2013 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a tribute to the work of Maurizio Grassini, econometrician and model builder. The selection of his works in the first part of the volume is mainly devoted to research issues of multisectoral modelling. In fact, M. Grassini has dedicated a large part of his professional life to building and developing the INTIMO model for the Italian economy within the INFORUM research project. The book does not aim to be a celebration of the past but takes a look at the future of the multisectoral modelling which M. Grassini has contributed so much to. In the second part of the book, colleagues and friends who have encountered M. Grassini in the professional sphere on matters of quantitative economic analysis or still working with him on interindustry models have given their contribution to look at the future prospects of a research field firmly based on the experience of what has been done so far.

Book Macroeconomic Modelling for Policy Analysis

Download or read book Macroeconomic Modelling for Policy Analysis written by Rossella Bardazzi and published by Firenze University Press. This book was released on 2013 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last 30 years, the Inforum approach to macro modelling has been shared by economists worldwide. Researchers have focussed much of their efforts to developing a linked system of international interindustry models with a consistent methodology. A world-wide network of research associates use the same methods and software obtaining comparable results. The XXth Inforum World Conference was held in Florence in September 2012 and this book contains a selection of papers presented during that Conference. All these contributions are aimed at policymakers, stakeholders, and applied economists. Some papers are devoted to specific topics (total factor productivity, energy issues, external linkages, demographic changes) and some others are oriented to macro model building and simulations.

Book The Programming Approach and the Demise of Economics

Download or read book The Programming Approach and the Demise of Economics written by Franco Archibugi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This trilogy deals with an epistemology of economics, arguing for a radical overturning of conventional analysis and providing an alternative to political economy and social sciences, based not on positivism, but on a normative and programming paradigm. Volume III furthers and concludes work presented in Volume I and Volume II, and introduces a concrete and practical example of how to build a Planning Accounting Framework (PAF), as associated with Frisch's 'plan-frame' (explored in Volume II), to demonstrate the extent to which decisions and negotiations can be routed in the social sciences. The PAF is an instrument of the programming approach that can be used to verify the compatibility of decisions and their effects. The author builds on Frisch's classical PAF to maximise the phenomenology of economic systems, and assure a consistent and effective implementation of decision making.
