Download or read book Economic Insights from Input Output Tables for Asia and the Pacific written by Asian Development Bank and published by Asian Development Bank. This book was released on 2022-07-01 with total page 481 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication features a broad suite of statistical indicators characterizing the supply-and-use interactions of economic sectors within and across 25 economies of Asia and the Pacific. The indicators include sector- and economy-specific multipliers and linkages, trade orientation and openness, participation in global value chains, patterns of product specialization, and domestic agglomeration, among many others. Supplementing these analyses are special chapters on the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, the contribution of the digital economy, and the significance of activities related to real estate. All analyses and indicators draw on the Multiregional Input–Output database maintained by the Asian Development Bank.
Download or read book Planning with the semi input output method written by A. Kuyenhoven and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The semi-input-output method was introduced by Professor Jan Tinbergen in the early 1960's in fairly obscure places in the economic literature. The basic idea of the method is a very simple one and does not require lengthy and sophisticated exposition to be understood. This fact, together perhaps with Tinbergen's dislike for very formalized and technical analysis, probably explains why he himself has never given a full exposition and elaboration of this method. Nevertheless, the concept did not remain unnoticed and authors such as B. Hansen and some of Tinbergen's collaborators, in particular P. A. Cor nelisse and J. Versluis, have contributed to the elaboration of the method. The present work by Dr. A. Kuyvenhoven, also a long-time collaborator of Tinbergen, has provided us with the first full, and in my opinion definite, exposition of the nature, technique and use of the semi-input output method, now more than 15 years after the launching of the concept.

Download or read book Financing Human Development in Africa Asia and the Middle East written by Rob Vos and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2014-01-09 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is available as open access through the Bloomsbury Open Access programme and is available on bloomsburycollections.com. How much would poor nations need to invest to eliminate poverty, get all children in school and provide adequate basic health care for all? Can they afford it? Financing Human Development in Africa, Asia and the Middle East provides some clear answers to these questions. The contributors assess feasible financing strategies underpinning actions to enhance human development in pursuance of the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The contributors analyse these strategies in the context of broader concerns of economic development in nine countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The assessments stress the importance of redesigning macroeconomic policies so as to make these more supportive of long-term economic growth and employment creation, while ensuring sufficient investments in human development in order to end poverty and overcome deep-rooted inequalities.
Download or read book Beyond the Market written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2005-01-29 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The national income and product accounts that underlie gross domestic product (GDP), together with other key economic dataâ€"price and employment statisticsâ€" are widely used as indicators of how well the nation is doing. GDP, however, is focused on the production of goods and services sold in markets and reveals relatively little about important production in the home and other areas outside of markets. A set of satellite accountsâ€"in areas such as health, education, volunteer and home production, and environmental improvement or pollutionâ€"would contribute to a better understanding of major issues related to economic growth and societal well-being. Beyond the Market: Designing Nonmarket Accounts for the United States hopes to encourage social scientists to make further efforts and contributions in the analysis of nonmarket activities and in corresponding data collection and accounting systems. The book illustrates new data sources and new ideas that have improved the prospects for progress.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Environmental accounting - the modification of the national income accounts to take into consideration the economic role of the environment - has grown in importance over the past ten years. However, many countries have not yet implemented such accounts, and there is much controversy about whether and how to do so. This paper aims to shed light on this situation through nine country case studies: Norway, The Netherlands, Sweden, France, Canada, The Philippines, Namibia, Germany, and the United States.
