Somit entscheiden nun die Eltern von Kindern mit Behinderung, ob ihr Kind an einer Sonder- oder einer öffentlichen Grundschule unterrichtet werden soll. Diese Entscheidung stellt für die Gleichberechtigung von Menschen mit Behinderungen einen sehr wichtigen Schritt dar, doch stellt gleichzeitig Schulen und Lehrer vor eine große Herausforderung. Viele Lehrerinnen und Lehrer fühlen sich darauf nicht vorbereitet, geschweige denn dafür ausgebildet. Es gibt nur sehr wenige Handreichungen, wie spezielle Fächer, die inklusiv aufgearbeitet werden können und noch weniger Erfahrungsberichte. Im vorliegenden Buch wurde versucht die wichtigsten Komponenten des inklusiven Unterrichts mit einigen Grundlagen des englischen Fremdsprachenunterrichts in der Grundschule zu vereinen. Dazu wurden zuerst beide Themen separat behandelt und anschließend miteinander verbunden. Den Abschluss bildet eine qualitative Studie in Form dreier Experteninterviews, bei welchen Lehrer unterschiedlicher Schulformen zu ihren Erfahrungen und Meinungen befragt wurden. Diese Interviews wurden sich dann letztlich noch gegenübergestellt und ausgewertet.

The multifaceted forms of translation and interpreting, marked by national struggles and extensive multilingualism, played a crucial role in constructing cultures within the Habsburg space. This book traces translation and interpreting practices in the Empire’s administration, courts and diplomatic service, and takes account of the “habitualized” translation carried out in everyday life. It then details the flows of translation among the Habsburg crownlands and between these and other European languages, with a special focus on Italian–German exchange. Applying a broad concept of “cultural translation” and working with sociological tools, the book addresses the mechanisms by which translation and interpreting constructs cultures, and delineates a model of the Habsburg Monarchy’s “pluricultural space of communication” that is also applicable to other multilingual settings. In PIAAC, for example, there are huge differences between the surveyed variables and the theoretical frameworks on literacies and literacy practices that the New Literacy Studies (NLS) have brought out. This book features eleven articles, which – with the NLS’s theoretical considerations and points of criticism in mind – find new and alternative evaluations and interpretations of the data. Not only can they show effects of marginalization on a large scale, but the data can also provide information about mechanisms of power in relation to literacy and basic competencies.

In 1939-40, the famed Austrian economist Joseph A. Schumpeter and the famous sociologist Talcott Parsons convened a faculty seminar at Harvard University on the topic of rationality. The first part includes their essays as well as papers by the Austrian phenomenologist Alfred Schütz, the sociologist Wilbert Moore, and the economist Rainer Schickele. Several younger economists and sociologists with bright futures also participated, including Alex Gerschenkron, John Dunlop, Paul M. Sweezy, and Wassily W. Leontief, who was later awarded the Nobel Prize for developing input-output analysis. The second part presents essays and commentaries written by today’s internationally noted social scientists and addressing the topic of rationality in social action from a broad range of perspectives. The book’s third and final part shares the recently discovered correspondence between the seminar principals regarding the original but failed plan to publish its proceedings. It also includes letters, not previously published, between Richard Grathoff, Walter M. Sprondel and Talcott Parsons on the rationality seminar and the exchanges between Parsons and Schütz.
