Download or read book Iniciaci n al atletismo a trav s del juego written by Emilio Antonio Martín Romero and published by Wanceulen S.L.. This book was released on 2022-02 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Facilitating and responding to the emergence of grass-root needs at the local level is also essential. Support to entrepreneurs and local communities should be primarily provided in matching grant forms to facilitate the mobilization of local resources and ownership. It is of primary importance to pay the greatest attention to country specificities, not only in terms of development level, size, and specialization, but also in terms of administrative and cultural traditions. At the global level, major issues need also to be considered and dealt with by appropriate incentives and regulations: the role of foreign direct investment in developing countries' technological development, conditions of technologies' patenting and licensing, the North-South research asymmetry, and brain drain trends.

Download or read book Skirting the Boundary written by Isabelle Duncan and published by Biteback Publishing. This book was released on 2013-05-28 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For too long, women have been kept beyond the boundary. Now, they are storming the field. This is their story. Cricket is a sport noted for the richness of its literature, yet despite all that has been written on the great game there remains a yawning gap - where are all the women? This omission may have been understandable in the early and middle part of the last century, when women's cricket existed in a twilight world, regarded as a sport for ladies who could perhaps be most tactfully described as 'unconventional'. But times have changed, and Izzy Duncan's groundbreaking book comes on the scene not a moment too soon. We begin in the late eighteenth century, when ladies made their first mark on cricket amid frantic betting and rowdy crowds. Then on to the highs and lows of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, culminating in the contemporary superstars dominating world cricket and on the cusp of going professional. Tracing the history of the ladies' game, delving into its sometimes murky past and revealing its recent explosion in popularity, Skirting the Boundary is a humorous, affectionate and charming portrayal of one of the fastest-growing global sports.

Download or read book Ownership Leadership and Transformation written by Thomas Theisohn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third and final in a series, this text bridges the conceptual foundations of capacity development and the difficulties and practical realities in the field. It demystifies the process of capacity development to make it more user-friendly. The book has two parts. The first shows how long-standing development dilemmas can be turned into opportunities for capacity development and societal transformation. It proposes a set of principles to guide the search for context-specific approaches as the norm, and based on these default principles the authors explore relevant issues in comprehensible stages through a capacity lens. The second part is a compilation of experiences and lessons from around the world, to showcase promising initiatives and innovative solutions. It forms a casebook of insights and good (rather than best) practices on how development stakeholders can turn development dilemmas into opportunities tailored to the needs of their societies.

Book excerpt: The turn of the twentieth century was a time of explosive growth for American cities, a time of nascent hopes and apparently limitless possibilities. In Children of the City, David Nasaw re-creates this period in our social history from the vantage point of the children who grew up then. Drawing on hundreds of memoirs, autobiographies, oral histories and unpublished—and until now unexamined—primary source materials from cities across the country, he provides us with a warm and eloquent portrait of these children, their families, their daily lives, their fears, and their dreams. Illustrated with 68 photographs from the period, many never before published, Children of the City offers a vibrant portrait of a time when our cities and our grandparents were young.
Download or read book Baseball in Nashville written by Skip Nipper and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2007 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nashville's first professional baseball team was organized in 1885, but the city's baseball roots can be traced to 1862, as Union soldiers camped along the Cumberland River taught the Northern game to the citizens. The Seraphs, Blues, Tigers, Americans, and Volunteers made their home in Athletic Park, later renamed Sulphur Dell by Grantland Rice during his tenure as a local sportswriter. Including the Negro League Elite Giants and a two-year existence by the Nashville Xpress in the 1990s, Baseball in Nashville traces those roots from the early teams to Herschel Greer Stadium and the Nashville Sounds' Pacific Coast League Championship in 2005.
