Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared Absorption Spectra: Index for 1945 -1957 contains 16,000 references to published infrared absorption spectra in 33 American and European journals and book. This index aims to provide a means for the location of published absorption spectra from 1945 to 1957, compiling references that consist of an abbreviated symbol of the journal, volume number, and page where an actual spectrum of the compound is reproduced. This book is arranged according to the compounds whose spectra are given, which is roughly similar to that used in Chemical Abstracts. This text is suitable for chemistry students and professionals conducting work on infrared absorption spectra.

Book Infrared Absorption Spectra 1964

Download or read book Infrared Absorption Spectra 1964 written by Herbert Hershenson and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Infrared Absorption Spectra: Index for 1958-1962 provides a five-year supplement to the original "Infrared Absorption Spectra: Index for 1945-1957. The chief aim of this index is to provide a means for the location of published absorption spectra and the listing has been kept as simple as possible. This index includes 66 journals and one collection of spectra in book form as compared with 33 journals and one book in the original. It contains approximately 20,000 references to infrared absorption spectra published during 1958-1962. The index is arranged according to the compounds whose spectra are given. The indexing arrangement is roughly similar to that used in Chemical Abstracts, although it has not been practical to conform to Chemical Abstracts nomenclature throughout. Listings are made based on the parent substance, while in the case of inorganic compounds, solution spectra are normally indexed according to the ionic species, which contributes the significant absorption. The spectra of polymeric materials are listed in proper alphabetical order according to the parent compound. The provided tables give a complete list of the volumes and corresponding years of the journals covered and also a list of the abbreviations used. Each reference consists of an abbreviated symbol for the journal, the volume number, and the page.

Book Applications of Infrared Spectroscopy in Biochemistry Biology and Medicine

Download or read book Applications of Infrared Spectroscopy in Biochemistry Biology and Medicine written by Frank Parker and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is not intended to be a basic text in infrared spectroscopy. Many such books exist and I have referred to them in the text. Rather, I have tried to find applications that would be interesting to a variety of people: advanced undergraduate chemistry students, graduate students and research workers in several disciplines, spectros copists, and physicians active in research or in the practice of medicine. With this aim in mind there was no intent to have exhaustive coverage of the literature. I should like to acknowledge my use of several books and reviews, which were invaluable in my search for material: G. H. Beaven, E. A. Johnson, H. A. Willis and R. G. 1. Miller, Molecular Spec troscopy, Heywood and Company, Ltd., London, 1961. J. A. Schell man and Charlotte Schellman, 'The Conformation of Polypeptide Chains in Proteins," in The Proteins, Vol. II, 2nd Ed. (H. Neurath, ed.), Academic Press, New York, 1964. R. T. O'Connor, "Application of Infrared Spectrophotometry to Fatty Acid Derivatives," J. Am. Oil Chemists' Soc. 33, 1 (1956). F. L. Kauffman, "Infrared Spectroscopy of Fats and Oils," J. Am. Oil Chemists' Soc. 41,4 (1964). W. J. Potts, Jr., Chemical Infrared Spectroscopy, Vol. I, Techniques, Wiley, New York, 1963. R. S. Tipson, Infrared Spectroscopy of Carbohydrates, National Bureau of Standards Monograph llO, Washington, D.C., 1968. C. N. R. Book Steroids and their Medicinal Potential

Download or read book Steroids and their Medicinal Potential written by Abid Hussain Banday and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2023-07-18 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Steroids are an important class of biomolecules with diverse roles and functions. Besides being important as structural and signaling molecules, these molecules hold promise against numerous disorders, including cardiovascular conditions, cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune disorders. Many investigations have demonstrated that steroidal frameworks may provide lipid solubility, receptor selectivity, or membrane binding properties to non-steroidal pharmacophores. However, the therapeutic use of steroids can be dangerous when they're used incorrectly. Additionally, misconceptions about steroids among athletes or recreational users can lead to steroid abuse and poor health outcomes. Steroids and their MedicinalPotential discusses the classification, distribution, biosynthesis, chemical synthesis, and semi-synthesis of different steroids. The medicinal potential of each class is exhaustively discussed in different chapters. The latest advances and developments in steroid-based drug discovery are also discussed thoroughly. The book aims to address general questions and concerns about steroids, providing readers with a useful resource on the subject. Key Features -Provides comprehensive coverage on all aspects of steroids including steroid chemistry, biochemistry, medicinal potential, drug discovery, and advances in target-binding interactions of steroid-based drugs -Includes chapters dedicated to anabolic steroids and their abuse -Designed as an accessible source of information for understanding steroidal drugs with structured chapters-Includes references for advanced readers.

Book Microbial Transformations of Steroids

Download or read book Microbial Transformations of Steroids written by M. Capek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamental studies of steroid compounds have begun approximately thirty years ago with the solution of structures of cholesterol and bile acids. This field has been receiving more attention when the structures of the principal steroid hormones, aglycones of heart glycosides, sapogenins, steroid alkaloids, toad poisons have been established. An intensive interest in these derivatives of cyc1opentanoperhydrophe nanthrene was determined especially by practical viewpoints, notably by attempts to prepare by synthetical economical procedures a series of steroid hormones and their biologically active derivatives, further by theoretical viewpoints. Biochemistry of steroids was developing in its beginnings by studies of meta bolites of steroid hormones in animal organism and soon has brought a number of practical results that could be used also in medical diagnostics. Considerably later, the metabolism of steroid compounds was followed also in microorganisms, again in connection with the practical problem to aid to economical syntheses of some steroid hormones. Two names are of primary importance for the pioneer works in microbial transformations of steroids, that of the Italian worker L. MAMOLI who first realized the microbial biosynthesis of testosterone from dehydroepiandro sterone, and of the American chemist and microbiologist D. H. PETERSON, who has contributed by his fundamental experiments in microbial hydroxylation of steroids to the position eleven, especially to the synthesis of cortisone. Microbial transforma tions of steroids nowadays offer a valuable tool in the preparation of series otherwise difficultly accessible steroid compounds.
